Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Recruited as Special Talent: Permanent Position, Housing Subsidy, and Settling-in Allowance Secured

The production team for *Path to Health* was also tracking real-time data. In the end, all the metrics for Wu Ting’s episode were far ahead of the competition.

The production team seized the opportunity, editing many of Wu Ting’s highlight moments into a compilation and posting it on the TV station’s social media account.

The TV station had also filmed some segments at the Fan City Medical Summit. They had originally planned to just briefly mention it, but because of Wu Ting, they expanded the coverage, highlighted the key points, and broadcast it on the news.

This fantastic crossover sent Wu Ting’s fame soaring. Along with him, the City First Hospital’s Emergency Surgery Department became known as Fan City’s number one choice for cosmetic appendicitis treatment.

Non-invasive, fast, and more affordable—any patient who learned about it would choose to come to City First Hospital for their appendectomy.

Furthermore, with endorsements from the *Path to Health* program and the Fan City Medical Summit, Wu’s Umbilical Hole Laparoscopic Appendectomy received no negative reviews whatsoever, whether from within the medical field or from the general public. The praise was overwhelming!

Many hospitals on good terms with City First Hospital began making plans to send their doctors for advanced training to learn the surgical technique.

In Fan City, Wu’s Umbilical Hole Laparoscopic Appendectomy had already become the new gold standard!

The success of Wu’s Umbilical Hole Laparoscopic Appendectomy also led to the smooth approval of Huo Yun’s plan to establish the Emergency Surgery Department as a key specialty for minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques.

The hospital’s leadership was also paying close attention!

「Another hospital-wide meeting.」

This time, aside from the routine work summaries, there were two special items on the agenda.

Both items were on the agenda due to Wu Ting’s direct or indirect influence.

Dean Tang Long was now one of Wu Ting’s staunchest supporters, and he was the one driving and leading these next two plans.

During the meeting, Dean Tang directly announced the first plan to all the department directors and heads of various divisions:

”Recently, in light of the Emergency Department’s exceptional performance under the leadership of Director Huo, Director Jiang, and Dr. Wu Ting, they have pioneered two mature surgical techniques.”

”This has put our hospital’s laparoscopic appendectomies at the forefront in Fan City, Jin Province, and even among our peers nationwide.”

”Wu’s Umbilical Appendectomy holds immense clinical significance and value for widespread adoption. Originating from our hospital, it is already beginning to set a new standard within the industry. Given time, Wu’s Umbilical Appendectomy will become the new standard for all laparoscopic appendectomies.”

”This represents a major opportunity for our hospital. Director Huo has therefore proposed a five-year plan.”

”The goal is to establish our Emergency Surgery Department as a provincial-level key specialty for Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology within five years!”

Hearing Dean Tang’s bold declaration, all the senior directors were stunned. They were also astonished by Huo Yun’s grand plan.

A provincial-level key specialty!

This required meeting incredibly stringent criteria, including a certain number of publications in national journals, the implementation of a significant number of new surgical techniques, as well as personnel, funding, equipment, and more...

Amid the directors’ mixed feelings of envy, admiration, and doubt, Dean Tang announced the five-year plan.

”During this five-year development period, the Emergency Department will focus on the following key tasks:”

”First, we will expand the range of laparoscopic surgical procedures. In addition to Wu Ting’s pioneered Wu’s Umbilical Hole Laparoscopic Appendectomy and the Suspended Gasless Abdominal Laparoscopic Appendectomy, we must actively develop other procedures in areas such as gallbladder, abdominal wall hernia, and gastrointestinal surgery.”

”Second, the hospital will support and coordinate personnel training while also purchasing the relevant equipment. We will strive to gradually roll this out within the current year...”

”Third, we will begin performing ERCP, EST, and EPBD. We will aim to send a young doctor for external advanced training within the year and progressively acquire the necessary equipment...”

...

”Of course, accelerating this development requires financial support. Therefore, given the Emergency Department’s current outstanding performance, the hospital will provide an annual research fund of 500,000 yuan. If the Emergency Surgery Department can develop relevant projects and successfully apply for municipal-level funding, this will increase to 800,000 yuan. If they secure provincial-level project funding, it will be raised to 1,000,000 yuan.”

”And if they can obtain grants from higher-level health authorities, the hospital will match those funds 1:1.”

Hearing Dean Tang’s incredibly generous financial support, the other department directors were in an uproar.

The Emergency Department was just too lucky. All because of this Dr. Wu Ting, they were getting to experience such rapid development.

Those who were well-acquainted with Wu Ting, like Lu Xiong, Lin Hu, and Huang Hong, were so envious they wanted to poach him for their own departments.

Of course, some department directors were unconvinced. After all, the hospital’s total budget was fixed. If the Emergency Department got more, it meant their own departments would get less.

Dean Tang naturally understood what some of the directors were thinking and stated directly:

”The rest of you have no need to be envious. If you want the hospital’s full support, all you have to do is deliver the same results as the Emergency Department.”

”Of course, future contributions are even more important than past achievements. The hospital’s funds aren’t just a free handout.”

”To receive this level of support, the Emergency Department must produce corresponding results. According to the current plan, during the development period, the department must formulate at least five research projects and publish five or more papers in national journals each year, all centered on the procedures they are developing.”

”They must complete the advanced training for their personnel as soon as possible and master the operational techniques for ERCP, EST, and EPBD within the development period.”

Hearing Dean Tang’s demands, the other department directors drew a sharp breath.

’Huo Yun is ruthless. Not just anyone would dare to apply under such stringent conditions.’

”Next, the hospital will establish a special steering committee for the Emergency Department. Chairman: Dean Sun. Vice-Chairmen: Dean Tang, Dean Liu. Members: Director Lu Xiong, Director Lin Hu... Deputy Director Huang Hong...”

”Committee responsibilities will include: ensuring the project proceeds according to plan, reviewing project phase reports, assessing project progress, and overseeing resource allocation...”

”As for performance evaluation: improvement in diagnosis and treatment levels, the proportion of patients referred from other regions, and analysis of the department’s influence...”

Hearing Dean Tang’s plan for the steering committee, all the department directors finally quieted down. There were no more objections. This was, as they say, a matter of earning one’s keep through skill.

’If you want to compete, then come up with an equivalent plan!’

The directors present couldn’t help but admire Huo Yun’s boldness. If he succeeded, the position of the next vice dean was practically his. If he failed, his career would end in disgrace.

Seeing that everyone was convinced, Dean Tang turned to Huo Yun.

”Director Huo, the hospital’s official project launch announcement will be issued after the meeting. Please submit your budget proposal promptly.”

”Include a detailed budget for necessary equipment purchases, personnel training, and research commercialization.”

At this point, the entire five-year plan was set in stone.

Huo Yun replied with conviction:

”Yes, Dean Tang. I’ll submit it after the meeting.”

”However, there is one more thing I need to bring up at this meeting, and I’d like everyone to vote on it. For this five-year plan, I have designated core figures for two generations. The backbone of our current generation is undoubtedly our department’s Deputy Director Jiang Ming. As for the third generation of young doctors, I plan to give my full support to Dr. Wu Ting.”

Hearing Huo Yun’s words, Tang Long also felt this was only natural.

The directors present also voiced their agreement. Wu Ting’s current influence and professional reputation were on a completely different level now. Every director there wished they had a Wu Ting in their own department.

”It’s embarrassing to say, but Dr. Wu Ting is still just a privately-funded resident in our department. He hasn’t even signed a contract, let alone been given a permanent position.”

”According to the resolution from our previous meeting, now that Dr. Wu Ting’s paper has been published in the latest issue of the *Jin Country Critical Care Medicine Journal*, we can officially offer him a permanent position.”

Hearing Huo Yun’s statement, Dean Tang and the other directors present had no objections.

”We should give Wu Ting a formal position immediately, that’s without a doubt. However, I’d like to talk about *how* we do it.”

”Dr. Wu Ting suggested to me that he would like to be brought in under the ’Distinguished Talent Recruitment’ program, in the name of our key specialty in minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques, so as not to take up one of the Emergency Surgery Department’s regular residency retention slots.”

”I think this is an excellent suggestion. It fully demonstrates our hospital’s commitment to valuing talent.”

”And according to the talent recruitment policy, Dr. Wu can be classified as a Class-B talent. As part of a key discipline, he would be eligible for a one-time housing subsidy of 1.2 million yuan and a settling-in allowance of 150,000 yuan!”

”I believe that by doing this, we can better secure a talent like Wu Ting for our hospital and bind him more deeply to our department.”

”I’m confident that with the foresight of our hospital leadership and all the directors here, everyone can see Dr. Wu Ting’s potential. If we don’t make a significant investment, the Military Hospital, the City Second Hospital, and even the emergency department of Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital are all watching him like hawks...”

Listening to Huo Yun’s righteous-sounding speech, it was clear he was securing the greatest possible benefits for the Emergency Department and his subordinate. Yet, it was all framed as being in the best interest of City First Hospital. The other directors wanted to object, but they couldn’t find the words.

Given the skill Wu Ting had demonstrated and the two surgical techniques he had already pioneered, retaining him with such a package almost seemed like *he* was the one showing deep loyalty to City First Hospital.

Besides, who could guarantee that their own department wouldn’t want to use the same talent recruitment policy to retain some top-tier talent in the future?

Even Dean Tang hadn’t expected Huo Yun to fight this hard for Wu Ting, but upon reflection, it was perfectly reasonable.

”What do you all think, directors? I personally support retaining Dr. Wu Ting at such a small cost.”

”I agree.”

”Agreed!”

Lu Xiong, Lin Hu, Zheng Duqing, Huang Hong, and the others were the first to voice their support.

The remaining directors, of course, had no reason to object.

Seeing his proposal pass, Huo Yun was thrilled. He could finally relax.

’I’ve managed to keep Wu Ting, and now the original residency slot can be used to keep Cheng Feng. It couldn’t be any better.’

This was an idea that Wu Ting had specifically proposed in order to help Cheng Feng stay.

”Next is the second item: an announcement regarding the dissolution of our hospital’s Thoracic Surgery Department.”

”Given that the former Director of Thoracic Surgery, Shi Ming, was poached by Xiao City Hospital, the department’s capabilities have been severely diminished. The current team of physicians is insufficient to support a complete department, so we are preparing to dissolve it.”

Many of Fan City First Hospital’s departments existed merely to meet the requirements for its Class A Grade 3 comprehensive hospital status. Thoracic Surgery was one such marginal department. With the departure of its star director, Shi Ming, it no longer had a reason to exist independently.

”The remaining doctors from Thoracic Surgery will be absorbed into the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department.”

”With the dissolution of Thoracic Surgery, its operating room will become vacant. Given that the Emergency Department is now performing Wu’s Umbilical Hole Laparoscopic Appendectomy, a unique surgical technique in the province, they are expected to admit a massive number of patients.”

”Therefore, this vacant operating room will be allocated to the Emergency Surgery Department!”
