Chapter 803:- Disappointment

Just a few hours later, Garrick, along with others, returned to the Royal Palace. As soon as he returned, he requested an audience with the Emperor through his butler. Shortly after, his butler returned to let Garrick know that the Emperor was waiting for him in his study room. ”Your Royal Highness, are you sure you want to do this?” Alfred was worried. As a servant, he did not want his Master to go down this path. After all, Charles was his father. Not only this whole situation would ruin the reputation of the Royal Family but it would also change Garrick. Besides, before serving Garrick, Alfred served Charles. Alfred still had deep respect and admiration for this current Emperor. Alfred felt that because Garrick was too rushed with his judgment, he wasnʼt ready for the Emperor. So, he supported the Emperorʼs decision not to make Garrick the Next Emperor. Unfortunately, Garrick saw things in a twisted way. But as his butler, Alfred couldnʼt even complain. Garrick stopped walking and looked at Alfred, who was behind him. ”Alfred, do you think what I am doing is wrong?”

Hearing this, Alfred became nervous. This kind of question put him in a very difficult spot. If he said yes, then this would displease his Master. If he said no, then his initial question would have no meaning to it. ”Your Royal Highness, I do think that His Majesty has been unfair to you, but I also feel that youʼre rushing things.” Alfred tried his best to remain neutral. ”Alfred, I am not rushing things.”

”Now that Prime Minister Eldric is under my control, itʼs a matter of time before the Emperor learns of my act. I need to act before that happens. I need to strike while the Emperor has lowered his guard against me.” Fortunately, there was no other servant in the hallway to hear their conversation. ”Understood!! I guess my thinking was wrong. Please forgive me!!!!” Seeing that he cannot change Garrickʼs mind, Alfred apologizes to end this matter here. ʼIf His Royal Highness were to fail, then not only him but also I would be severely punished. There is over 80% chance that I will be publicly executed.ʼ But there was nothing that he could do about it. Despite knowing that his master was wrong and was walking on a very dangerous path, Alfred continued to be loyal to his master. A butler must always remain loyal to his master no matter what happens. He has been by Garrickʼs side for over 500 years. Even if his decision would lead him to die, he was still determined to follow Garrick. ”By the way, is Lady Emma not coming with us?” Alfred asked as they began walking again. ”His Majesty forbade her from even coming to the Royal Palace. But I still brought her with me.” The truth was that Garrick had become reliant on Emma. He loved having her around him. Whenever he found himself in some complex situation, she was there to help him. ”For now, she is going to stay in my Bedroom.” Alfred nodded and said nothing else. As they were walking down the hallway, they saw Soraya entering from the other side, the same direction Garrick and Alfred were headed.

Seeing Soraya, Garrick, and Aflred stopped to talk to her. It has been a while since he last saw his sister. It has been over a week. Garrick, who was regularly used to seeing her, felt that a long time had passed since he hadnʼt seen his sister. These days, Soraya lives as if she doesnʼt even exist. She very rarely comes out of her bedroom. The only place that she visits is the library. These days, instead of going there herself, she always sends her maids to pick various books from the library that she is interested in reading. ”So you finally decided to come out of your bedroom?” Garrick crossed his arms on his chest and asked his sister with an arrogant smirk. ”Good Morning, Brother!!” She totally ignored his words and calmly greeted her. ”Good morning!!” ”Have you had breakfast?” Garrick asked. Hearing this, Soraya looked puzzled. Normally, her brother would always find some kind of topic to taunt her, but now, he was just asking her normal questions. However, his arrogant tone hasnʼt changed. ”Yes!!” ”Brother, I will be on my way. There is a matter that needs my urgent attention.” With this excuse, Soraya began walking away. ”This urgent matter better not be a man. Otherwise, you wonʼt be able to bear the consequences.” She heard his sentence from behind. Hearing this Soraya stopped walking for a second before she continued walking as if she did not hear his warning. ”Once I have become the Emperor, I will find a suitable person and get her married.” •••

”Garrick, come in!!!” Charles was sitting on a chair. There was a table in front of him. After entering the room, Garrick thought that he would see the Emperor working on something but unexpectedly, the Emperor was looking at him. There was no paper or pen on the table in front of him. Garrick also felt that Charlesʼs gaze was somewhat different today. ʼDid he change?ʼ Garrick asked himself. But after a second, he pushed those thoughts way. Now that he was here, there was no need for him to hesitate. ʼCome on, Son!! I have taught you to be better than this.ʼ As long as Garrick admitted his mistakes, then Charles was willing to forgive Garrick and work on a solution together. Charles still held some hopes that the child that he personally taught since his birth would not kill him. At the last second, he would change his mind. This is the reason why Charles waited while pretending that he knew nothing. ”Your Majesty!!!” Garrick greeted the Emperor just like he usually does. ”Garrick, sit down!! I heard there was something that you wanted to talk about.” Garrick nodded his head. After he sat down, he signaled his butler to pour them some tea. ”I wanted to talk about the topic of me becoming the Next Emperor.” Hearing this, Charles narrowed his eyes. He was displeased that his son was here to talk about this. Charles always thought that regardless of what choice he made, it was enough, and Garrick would accept his decision without uttering even a single word of complaint. Charles suppressed his emotions to not appear displeased in front of Garrick.

”I planned to step down very soon. But the sudden rise of the Istarin Empire has changed all of our plans.” In reality, Charles was unwilling to step down.

He loved being on top of millions of people. He loved being in control. And even if he did step down, he would still retain almost all of the powers. Garrick, at most, would end up becoming a puppet that is controlled by Charles. ”Why canʼt I become the Emperor now?” Garrick asked while gritting his teeth. Hearing the change in his sonʼs tone, Charles frowned in displeasure. ”Youʼre always like this.” Garrick increased his voice. ”Since I was young, you constantly fed me the dream of becoming the Emperor. But now that itʼs time for me to fulfill my destiny, youʼre being my biggest obstacle. Why is that?” Garrick no longer concealed his anger. ʼIt seems I was wrong for expecting a change from this idiot.ʼ Charles was equally pissed as Garrick. At that moment, Alfred gently pushed a teacup filled with herbal tea toward Charles. Seeing this tea cup, Charlesʼs gaze became really cold. ”Garrick, I will ask you one last time.”

”If you do not step down and fall in line, you will face the consequences of your action.” However, after coming this far, Garrick wasnʼt afraid. ”I am not afraid. I will stubbornly hold my ground.” ”Thatʼs it!!” Charles stood up. ”You are more than 500 years old. You are old enough to understand what you are doing and the consequences of your actions.” Till this moment, Garrick did not realize that Charles knew their plan. ”Arrest them!!!” Hearing these two sentences, Garrick was stunned. Even Alfred looked very stunned. Swoosh...!!!

Before Garrick or Aflred could react, they found two leather collars around their necks. ”Your Majesty, I expect a satisfactory payment for this extra job.” It was Robert who did that. ”Who are you?”

”How dare you put this collar on my neck?” Garrick glared at Robert, but he just ignored the former Crown Prince. But Alfred, who was calmer, instantly understood that the Emperor had known their plan. Realizing this, he got to his knees and lowered his head. Silence!!!!

Now that Garrickʼs cultivation is suppressed, he cannot bear Charlesʼs aura and falls from the chair. He was also on his knees. Charles walked up to Garrick and then slapped his face. Garrick held his burning cheek and looked at Charles in a mix of anger and shock. This was the first time that Charles had actually hit Garrick. ”I did not expect this from you.”

”To think that you would not only harm Eldricʼs family but also try to kill me so that you can become the Emperor........you truly disappoint me, Garrick.”
