[Looking for Subscriptions]_1 183: Chapter 18: Home, and the Feeling of Family!

[Looking for Subscriptions]_1 Jia Yan was flying in the sky.

Below him were unsightly ruins of various buildings!

At this moment, the Big Mosquito was totally bewildered; it seemed like he was the only one excluded from the changes going on in the world.

It had only been a week’s time, he had become considerably stronger while in the deep sea.

But Jia Yan had never thought that the world could change even more drastically than him in just a week’s time!

It gave Jia Yan a strange feeling, as if his own change could not keep up with the pace of the world’s changes.

But now, after observing the area below for a while, something in Jia Yan’s heart stirs slightly.

“If this is the current state of the coastal villages and cities, what would my hometown look like now?

It couldn’t have changed to this extent, could it?”

At that thought, Jia Yan became a bit nervous.

If his hometown had turned into this, what about his family?

Could something have happened to them?

“Well, I’m not far from my hometown anyway.

I need to go back and check!”

The wings of the Big Mosquito move and start to flap energetically in the air.

His speed involuntarily increased, creating a certain amount of noise in the night sky.

If anyone were to look up, they would be surprised to see a large creature flying overhead!

His wingspan was over four meters long, and his six long legs covered a range of over ten meters.

It was nothing short of terrifying!

Jia Yan had indeed become stronger, and his improvement was not just limited to what was currently visible!

He had yet to fully appreciate his true strength, and what he had shown so far was just the tip of the iceberg!

The Giant Mosquito kept flying.

In the night sky above, stars were dotting the sky.

The stars seemed like mysterious pearl agates, beckoning with temptation, very conspicuous.

Due to the ongoing catastrophe, light pollution wasn’t a problem.

The moon and stars above could be seen clearly.

Jia Yan noticed that the night sky at this time was the most beautiful he had ever seen.

However, the allure of the night sky only distracted the Big Mosquito momentarily, before he gave up watching it!

For the Big Mosquito, his soul was still human.

Despite having been reborn for so long, he still retained a human’s wisdom and experience, and believed that his family from his time as a human were still his kin.

So, he didn’t entertain the idea that ‘this scenery would be better preserved without humans’.

Although for some earthlings, humans indeed pose the greatest threat, even becoming the major perpetrators of their species demise, but isn’t this just the survival of the fittest?

The strong survive while the weak are eliminated.

This rule even applies to humans themselves.

After all, humans are social creatures, there are excellent ones and unexceptional ones.

Eventually, the excellent ones procreate, while the less exceptional ones are eliminated.

Reproduce and pass on the excellent genes!

Look, the matter is that simple: in the end, humans are nothing more than another species!

As for Jia Yan, it was different.

He was excellent, but he didn’t really belong to any species.

Want to pass on genes?

First, find a female Giant Mosquito like him!

And even if he finds one, would Jia Yan agree to mate with a female mosquito?

It’s simply ludicrous.

“Ahem!

Thinking too much here.” Jia Yan disrupted his line of thought.

Actually, with Jia Yan’s flight speed, he didn’t need much time to get to his hometown.

After all, Fujian Province isn’t that big.

For Jia Yan, his speed is beyond anything a provincial territory could hinder!

While in flight, Jia Yan’s anxiety gradually subsided.

After passing those war-torn coastal cities, the other cities along the way seemed to be doing well.

It seemed that there might not be many of the metal monsters, or they haven’t been attacking humans for long, so the war hasn’t extended far into the country yet!

However, the sights on the way weren’t all good news.

Perhaps the war ongoing near the coast had scared the nearby cities, so there was some chaos among the civilians below!

There were sporadic fires and screams; clearly, the number of thugs had increased!

Countless tragic stories were taking place!

“I hope my hometown isn’t in this kind of chaos!”

Looking down at the city almost in a state of anarchy, Jia Yan felt a bit heavy-hearted!

Where there are humans coming together in a disaster, there are certainly those who would take advantage of the situation.

This has been the case since ancient times!

Jia Yan had no intention of being some great hero.

After all, he couldn’t really be considered human anymore.

If he did step in now, he wouldn’t be welcomed, but feared and attacked, right?

Furthermore, he didn’t have any plans to be a hero.

All he wanted to do was to protect his own family.

He had no concern for the lives and deaths of the others!

A journey of over two hundred kilometers was just about half an hour for him now!

Soon, Jia Yan crossed the entirety of Fujian province and arrived at the county-level city located to the north of the province, his hometown – Tan City!

It had been only one short week since he had last returned, but to Jia Yan it felt like a long time had passed.

Bathed in the darkness of the night, Tan City felt a little different from the brightly lit city in Jia Yan’s memory.

He spread his wings and took a glide.

Which is why he was approaching the small city quietly.

High up in the sky, at an altitude of two thousand meters, the Giant Mosquito’s wings covered a large portion of the night sky.

The faint light from the moon overhead illuminated the Giant Mosquito’s body!

If anyone looked up at the sky at this time, they would surely notice this giant mosquito monster.

However, humans below were no longer the sort who would be frightened at the sight of strange things!

Monster?

Now, monsters were not things that would catch people’s eye, monsters were everywhere across the land of China.

It was very easy to see a monster, as long as you weren’t afraid of death, you can see one anytime!

So now, Jia Yan didn’t have to fear radar detection, and neither did he have to worry about being detected by humans due to his size!

Even if he was seen, it would be nothing more than a sight, humans might be surprised, but no one would think of taking videos and showing off on the internet anymore!

“Wasn’t that a public square?

What’s happening there, why are many people setting up tents?”

“Eh, wasn’t that building still under construction?

Why are there so many people gathering at this place?”

Flying along the way, Jia Yan found the city below, his hometown, to be somewhat different from the one in his memory.

Because of the metal monster, Tan City now was no more the place appearing at a slower pace than the big city, where everyone seemed kinder.

Instead, it seemed violent, with crimes happening incessantly in the dark of night!

Jia Yan flew over the city center and quickly arrived above his home!

The building was pitch black.

It was only about nine o’clock in the evening, why did they turn off the light so early?

Jia Yan remembered that when he was at home, it was usually past eleven before his family went to rest.

Now the lights are out so early, is something wrong?!

Thinking of the many crimes he heard and saw earlier, Jia Yan couldn’t help but feel a tightening in his chest!

The figure of the Big Mosquito started to descend.

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

Whoosh!!-

His massive body couldn’t be concealed, but the night gave him great camouflage, at this time, few people would observe the strange things in the sky, right?!

So Jia Yan managed to descend quickly, only lightly flapping his wings when he was once again hovering on his own rooftop, allowing his six legs to step on the concrete floor.

Click.

A slight sound came from the ground.

But no one noticed the sound on the rooftop.

Back here again!

Jia Yan looked at the surroundings.

Compared to last time, his mood was not so surging, after all, he had already come back once, and a week was not enough to raise any long-lost feeling.

But compared to his somewhat irrational state last time, this time Jia Yan could observe the surroundings more rationally.

For example, although the rooftop still had no tiles or anything, the surrounding protective walls were painted a new white.

This was probably the handy work of his hardworking father, Jia.

Jia Yan wiggled his forefoot a little.

He was hesitant whether he should go downstairs to check.

If something really happened to his family, he wouldn’t know.

But at this moment, a series of coughing sounds came from below, which made Jia Yan give up the idea.

Jia Yan could tell, that was his father’s voice.

He remembered that his father, Jia Sheng, because he was hurt by those mercenaries, his legs and feet should not be healed by now, so it is normal for his family to go to bed early considering his injury, right?!

Jia Yan thought for a moment, then went back to lying down again.

This night, he planned to stay close to his family like this, this was the first time after being reincarnated that he was so close to his family.

The feeling of home and family was very warm.

Jia Yan’s heart was filled with warmth, he knew, tonight, there would be no confusion and worry in his heart, because he was accompanied by his family, he could comfortably get through!

But this feeling didn’t last long!

Just as Jia Yan was thinking about whether or not to sleep again.

Boom!

Suddenly, a violent explosion not far from this suburban area, brought him back from his comfortable feeling!

“What is that…”

Jia Yan lifted his head, the fire in the distance reflected in his compound eyes.

The place where the fire and explosion came from was not far away, about three kilometers from Tan City.

Jia Yan remembered that place, it was a tourist project under development in Tan City, it seemed that a lot of money was invested, but not many tourists were seen.

Why would there be an explosion there in the middle of the night?!

“Let’s hope it’s not something bad, after all, if something dangerous happens there, it might endanger this place!”

Light flickered in Jia Yan’s compound eyes, then, he shook his body and stood up from the concrete floor!

Since he was back, it was his duty to guard the safety of his family!

The Big Mosquito spread its wings!

Doing his best not to make any sound, he flew towards the sky!
