[Subscription Requested]_1 After turning on his laptop, Jia Yan didn’t dive right into work.

He wasn’t as frantic as he used to be, so he decided to check his messages first.

Since he arrived back in Huaxia, he hadn’t had a glance at the online news.

After all, he had no idea about both the situation with the metal monsters and the current state of war in Huaxia.

If the area in Qingzang had already been completely invaded by the metal monsters, it would be dangerous for him to go there.

He had to consider whether it was worth going!

Jia Yan efficiently opened the webpage and began searching for information about the metal monsters.

Sure enough, the Internet was full of news about the metal monsters.

And most of these news stories were positive.

Some said that the metal monsters could bring about a technological leap for humanity that would last a century.

Some claimed that the metal monsters weren’t a threat, and that humans just needed to do more research to completely eradicate them.

As for the war situation, there wasn’t too much concealment, as there were so many refugees everywhere that it would have been impossible to hide the reality.

However, under the government’s message that the metal monsters were not to be feared, the news of various cities falling didn’t seem as shocking.

It was as if humans were destined to win this war and gain something from the metal monsters.

At this time, people indeed needed some good news to boost their spirits.

Jia Yan didn’t find anything wrong with what the Huaxia government was doing.

After all, he remembered how, during the previous war with the Wa Kingdom, exaggeration was common.

If a commander on the frontline killed a thousand enemies, the rear command would report it as three thousand, and by the time it was reported to the national level, it would become an impressive national achievement of slaughtering ten thousand enemies!

That’s how war is.

It’s not a wrong approach, since the morale of the public and the rank-and-file soldiers is essential.

Actually, there were also quite a few clear-minded individuals online.

These netizens discussed and analyzed the battles, ending their posts with depressing conclusions.

The metal monsters, despite coming in just one type, had left Huaxia in such a state.

It was said that although the metal monsters appearing in other countries were also basically of one model, they differed greatly from those in Huaxia and on the American continent.

Did this imply that there were actually many types of metal monsters?

And were there others that hadn’t shown up yet?

What would happen if even more powerful metal monsters showed up?

Such speculations and topics were all over the Internet, as it concerned the entire war.

Even expert scholars joined the discussion.

For them, it wasn’t necessarily about the topic’s attractiveness, but a way to make themselves famous.

Consequently, the Internet was flooded with videos of various experts and professors, along with an abundance of analysis posts from relevant individuals.

Reading all of this was impossible, so Jia Yan chose some of the more popular articles and posts to browse through.

The first thing Jia Yan learned was that the metal monsters had indeed caused widespread panic in the world, and they had spread to all corners of the Earth!

He looked a bit hesitant.

This development was somewhat beyond Jia Yan’s expectation.

Although he had a vague suspicion about this when he first saw the metal monsters in Huaxia, he couldn’t quite believe that his suspicion was correct.

Now, with the truth right in front of him, it was as if the world was suddenly plunged into crisis due to the metal monsters, a development that left Jia Yan completely taken aback!

Could it be that my luring of the metal monster out at Mount Fuji was merely the trigger for all of this, and that such a large number of metal monsters were going to appear sooner or later!” Jia Yan always felt a bit guilty for luring the metal monsters out to the Surface World.

But now, upon seeing the posts online, this feeling subsided a bit.

After all, if the appearance of these metal monsters was just a result of his accidental release, the number shouldn’t be so huge.

This indicated that these metal monsters must have long planned an invasion of the Surface World, otherwise, how could such a massive army suddenly appear!

But what exactly are these metal monsters?

Where do they come from?

Could there be an even larger space beneath the surface, similar to or even bigger than the Underground World in the north of Huaxia?

As Jia Yan pondered these issues, his mind seemed to drift.

“Huh, there are posts discussing me here!”

As Jia Yan was scrolling, he noticed that some posts were actually about his giant mosquito monster!

He was somewhat curious to see what the humans were saying about him.

“The Big Mosquito monster is highly combative.

Witnesses report that a giant never-before-seen mosquito monster single-handedly waged a fierce battle against a metal monster army with thousands of units in Fujian Province.

After killing over 300 metal monsters, it left.”

“That’s nonsense, right?

Everyone online is saying it’s impossible.

Giant mosquito monsters have appeared before, but their combat ability is only in close-range fights.

How could they possibly engage with metal monsters in battle?

It simply can’t be true!”

“The above commentators are all idiots.

The one who battled them was me, and I am a god!”

“All hail the commenter above, please kindly accept my total admiration!”

“Third and fourth commenter are idiots.

But as for the main post, I have to say, it’s true.

I contacted a friend who escaped from that place this morning.

He said that he saw the battle between the giant mosquito and the metal monsters with his own eyes.

And this giant mosquito, unlike other mosquito monsters, seemed to have the ability for long-range attacks, which is why it could slaughter so many metal monsters!”

“The fifth commenter actually knows people in the conflict zone.

What’s the situation there now?

It’s said that all living beings in the conflict zone are extinct now, is that true?

Did many people die?”

“I’m telling you, metal monsters are creatures that kill whoever they see.

I managed to escape from the warzone, my hometown was wiped out by the metal monsters.

I’ve seen hundreds of people die right before my eyes, all killed by these creatures.”

Bits of such news trickled by Jia Yan’s eyes, in which he gathered many pieces of information.

Although he had earlier speculated that the metal monsters could potentially be carrying out military actions on a large scale, he couldn’t believe that within such a short span of time, Huaxia and other countries around the world had turned into such a terrifying state.

In just a week, the rough estimate of deaths worldwide had exceeded three million!

Moreover, this number was growing at a daily minimum rate of five hundred thousand!

The death toll in the Wa Kingdom alone exceeded one million.

While other countries also had serious casualties, they appeared relatively better due to the late appearance of the metal monsters there.

However, the situation was clearly far from optimistic.

Jia Yan, aware of the true combat power of the metal monsters, could sense a degree of tension – fright even – present in the government’s released reports.

Jia Yan wasn’t quite sure what the human higher-ups were nervous about.

Although humans were currently disadvantaged, the metal monsters had plentiful weaknesses.

Once these weaknesses got exploited, it wouldn’t be hard to defeat them!

Could there be something else, undisclosed to the public?

As this thought sprung up, Jia Yan seemed to have caught onto an inspiration.

But it was a fleeting spur that evaporated as quickly as it arrived – by the time he wished to further analyze it, nothing could be grasped anymore!

At this point, Jia Yan had almost obtained all the intelligence he needed.

He glanced at the region that hosted a supposed secret research institution.

As luck would have it, that vast land was yet unaffected by the metal monsters.

Big Mosquito shut down his computer, realizing that his once mild addiction to the device was all gone.

After all, he, now a giant mosquito monster embedded in a life filled with gaming mysteries, found his current endeavours a hundred times more exciting than anything an old set of bytes could offer!

He hardly even looked at his computer now – to Big Mosquito, it was nothing more than a simple tool.

After shutting down his computer, Jia Yan noticed it would take quite a while to recharge.

Thus, he strode with his massive figure to the living room’s couch, completely disregarding the protests that might soon follow, and settled himself onto it.

Comfort!

Jia Yan realized that humans knew how to pamper themselves.

This comforting sensation was something he hadn’t experienced since his reincarnation.

And it seemed, this family had a decent income as even the couch was genuine leather – providing Jia Yan a brief taste of satisfaction!

Big Mosquito bent down, his body slightly sinking into the plush cushions.

It had been a long while since he experienced such a feeling, and he relished the rare moment of relaxation.

Normally, Big Mosquito would rest only when he was worn out and quite unable to go on, and since his reincarnation, he hadn’t needed much sleep.

This moment of tranquillity was a long-lost feeling.

Big Mosquito was falling asleep.

The shine in his compound eyes dimmed, and finally, Jia Yan began to slowly drift into a state of dormancy.

Days of relentless fighting had worn him out.

Mentally tired, physically tired.

He needed a proper rest.

And so, Big Mosquito gently dozed off on the couch of the fairly well-maintained house.

The couch was not small, yet it could at best accommodate only a little more than half of Jia Yan’s body.

But even so, Big Mosquito was satisfied.

Compared to the stony and bothersome ground, it felt like heaven on this couch.

The computer sat on the floor charging, gentle wind blew in, rustling the curtains.

Big Mosquito’s sleeping posture appeared utterly peaceful.

What a pleasant dream!
