[Request Collection] _1 44: Chapter 5: Outdoor Adventure!

[Request Collection] _1 Jia Yan felt as if he was being shrouded by a massive shadow.

He immediately didn’t care about the CHr-379 virus antidote falling onto the ground, flipping in mid-air straightaway!

Like a diving athlete, he executed an elegant front somersault!

But as a nocturnal hunter, the bat was naturally not inferior in movement.

Its claws almost touched on top of Jia Yan’s wings in a flash of lightning, yet missed by a hair’s breadth, brushing past Jia Yan’s body!

“Still chasing!” After Jia Yan dodged its fatal attacks twice, he saw the bat unwaveringly and swiftly pursuing him.

Jia Yan saw a tree as thick as a bowl in front of him and fiercely charged towards it!

Just when he was about to hit the tree trunk, he flapped his wings suddenly.

Immediately a powerful airflow was emitted from its wings, making Jia Yan evade the tree trunk and fly past it within a split second!

But how could the bat chasing from behind anticipate such a move from Jia Yan?

It chased too eagerly and as a result, it directly hit the tree trunk!

With a ‘crack’ sound, it hit with utter certainty!

The bat’s fluttering on the ground indicated that it wouldn’t be able to get up for a while.

Jia Yan hastily took this opportunity to flutter his wings and fly into the darkness!

He hid behind some leaves.

The bat quickly flew off the ground.

It seemed that it was slightly dizzy from hitting the tree.

It flew strangely into the bushes and disappeared.

“Fortunately, it didn’t think to seek revenge on me.” Jia Yan carefully flew out from behind the leaves, being more cautious this time.

He checked his back.

During his previous dodge, the small capsule bottle containing the CHr-379 virus antidote had fallen somewhere onto the ground…

“Never mind, I roughly remember this place, I will come back to get it next time!”

“Otherwise, searching for it on the ground now is not only dangerous due to the bats but also predators like frogs, which could put me in riskier situations!”

Moreover, even though that capsule-like small bottle is not big for humans, it is almost as big as Jia Yan’s mosquito body, carrying it would only slow him down!

I will take it next time when I need it, or when I am leaving!

If it gets damaged or carried away by animals in the forest, then there’s nothing I can do.

I really can’t take it with me right now.

Jia Yan took off again.

This time, he traveled a distance of about one to two hundred meters.

There was no danger encountered on the way!

As he flew towards the estimated location of the circle while discerning the direction of the moon, Jia Yan suddenly felt his front feet touch something!

He was instantly stuck!

Damn it, it’s spider silk!

Jia Yan was anxious and instinctively wanted to struggle!

But in that moment, Jia Yan’s human wisdom and emergency response skills kicked in.

“I can’t struggle, the more I struggle, the tighter the silk will stick.

Right now, only a little bit of my front foot is stuck on the web.

If I struggle, I will definitely end up getting my whole body stuck!”

The situation was exactly as how Jia Yan analyzed.

He, the giant Chinese Anopheles Mosquito, was fluttering his wings in the dark sky, but the movement was not extensive.

Instead, it was strong enough to ensure his suspension in the air!

The tip of one of his front legs accidentally stuck on the edge of a spider web.

The spider web vibrated, but he stayed very calm and didn’t choose to struggle.

Instead, he maintained balance and continued to fly in the sky!

“I am only stuck to a strand of spider web, there’s still a possibility to break free with my current strength!”

“Fly back in the opposite direction with force!”

Jia Yan flapped his wings, flying backwards carefully, ensuring that other parts of his body won’t get stuck in the web!

Instead of choosing to fly up or forward, as that would only make the situation worse.

An orb-weaver spider, round and fat-bellied, holding a large belly, quickly crawled out from a leaf at the corner of the web!

It seemed like it was the master of this web!

This big orb-weaver spider was similar in length to Jia Yan, around one and a half centimeters long, but it was bulky and probably weighed three to five times more than Jia Yan.

Spiders can catch preys several times bigger than them on their webs.

Jia Yan believed if he got stuck in the web, he would definitely end up being a late-night snack.

“Hurry up!” He quickly increased the speed of flying backward.

The spider web sticking to his front leg twisted sharply upon being pulled!

It looked like it could break any time, but Jia Yan didn’t hold any hope for that.

The rigidity and elasticity of a spider web is something human technology has always wanted to crack and mimic, but has always been unsuccessful.

If magnified to a certain extent, it can surpass any human world rope.

Instead of expecting the spider silk to be broken by him, it’s better to hope that the part sticking to his front feet isn’t too solid, and he could break free with a extra bit of force!

The big orb-weaver spider was very fast and had already come very close by the time Jia Yan was struggling to fly backward!

Its icy eyes were fixed on Jia Yan’s body.

Such a big mosquito, it could be enough for a full meal!

Jia Yan seemed to read this information from its eyes.

The big-bellied orb weaver spider was quickly crawling up the silk thread wrapped around Jia Yan.

Then its two front legs, meant for predation, were about to hook Jia Yan’s front legs that were ensnared!

‘Bang.’ At the very same moment, Jia Yan only felt a lightness in his body, and he was thrown backward!

His front leg had come loose from the silk thread it had been adhered to!

The big-bellied orb weaver spider, which was on the web, stared coldly at the escaping prey, and its compound eyes were filled only with a chilling sense.

Jia Yan didn’t linger at all, he quickly flew off in another direction!

“I was too careless, I must pay attention to the spider web next time!

Even if I have to slow down, safety should be the priority.”

He encouraged himself in his mind, reminding himself to be very careful, the wilderness was too dangerous, and if you are careless, you can easily lose your life!

There are too many dangers in the wilderness that he still doesn’t understand, and there are too many creatures that can kill him!

Of course, Jia Yan would not belittle himself, the advantages he mentioned before entering the forest were not false.

His speed was indeed fast, his body was indeed strong, at least stronger than an average mosquito by a huge margin!

And these points are not his biggest advantage now, his biggest advantage now is having human intelligence!

If he didn’t have human intelligence, he wouldn’t have been able to escape the bat hunt and the spider web crisis just now.

You ask an ordinary mosquito, do they know how to take advantage of sharp turns in the air, judge the movements of the bat, and avoid them?

The same is true when facing a spider web, normal mosquitoes would struggle as soon as they hit a spider web, and the result is the more they struggle, the tighter they get wrapped, and they would just have to wait to become the big-bellied orb weaver spider’s food.

Several combined conditions are the source of Jia Yan’s confidence!

“The two dangers just now, although they happened in a very short time, gave the illusion that the forest is indeed too dangerous.

But in fact, this is only because I am not yet familiar with the wilderness.

Now that I’ve experienced these two dangers, as long as I learn from the experience, the risk of similar situations in the future would naturally be much less.”

“I can do it!

I’m the one who killed humans with a mosquito body, I’ll definitely be able to do it!”

Jia Yan was cheering himself on!

He started to avoid the spider webs in the forest.

Every time he sensed any flying creatures in the sky, he would hide under the leaves right away…

The progress was going well.

This part of the dense forest in Liangshui Town is a typical small forest area in the low mountain region of the Northeast, with many shrubs giving rise to a variety of creatures.

And there were also many predators.

Jia Yan was slowly moving through the dense forest.

Compared to when he first entered the forest, he had slowed down a lot.

He might not be able to fly a kilometer in an hour, but this felt much safer, and the forest seemed to pose much less danger to him.

“Another spider web ahead…”

After carefully avoiding a spider web, Jia Yan suddenly heard a distant clear chirping sound!

His heart jolted, and he quickly looked up at the sky!

In the dark forest, it was hard to notice that there was already a hint of brightness in the high sky.

Dawn was about to come!

“No, I must hurry and find a place to hide.

Otherwise, when the daylight arrives, there will be many more predators.”

Thinking about the daytime predators, Jia Yan felt his scalp numbing.

Although bats and other nocturnal creatures will not be out and about, there would be birds like swallows and sparrows, and predatory insects like dragonflies and mantises, it would definitely be much more dangerous at that time!

Just as Jia Yan was in a hurry to find a hiding place!

He suddenly saw a large black creature suddenly appear in his line of sight!

This huge creature had fifteen leg segments, each with slender long legs.

At first glance, its shape was very similar to a centipede, and judging from its appearance, this creature also indeed shared the features of an arthropod like a centipede!

Jia Yan was a casual enthusiast of zoology, he could tell at first glance that this creature was indeed a close relative of Centipedes, called ‘millipedes’, a type of poisonous arthropod!

Millipedes are common, seeing them in the wilderness is not a big deal.

But…

Jia Yan, on seeing this millipede, his compound eyes nearly popped out!

“A regular millipede is only about 25 millimeters, but this guy, it’s about 190 millimeters big!

A 19 centimeter long millipede?

That’s too huge; it’s totally unreasonable!”
