Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

He curled up his body, carefully swimming to the side of his shed skins.

He organized these shed skins with his tail, then stuffed them into the crevices of the pebbles.

He didn’t know whether he would have the chance to come back, to place these four skins he shed at ‘home’ would be a memory, he thought.

He will always remember, during his larval stage, he had such a warm little home.

Time passed quickly…

Three days later.

Jia Yan’s hardened larval body finally reacted to this day!

“Pupa Transformation!”

Jia Yan felt the meaning conveyed by this inborn characteristic in mosquito genetics.

He was about to pupate!

After emerging from the pupa, it would be a mosquito.

Then it’s time to bid his birthplace, the pond world, goodbye!

“Well, isn’t this exactly what I wanted?

There’s nothing to regret.”

The giant larva shook his head, then his body began to slowly curl up…

Jia Yan controlled his body to form a circular shape, leaving only a long tail on the outside.

From the side, it looked like a comma.

Pupa Transformation, beginning now!

Jia Yan could only feel that all of his organs were undergoing intense changes.

The wing buds that gradually appeared during the fourth molt, he could distinctly feel them swelling, eager to fully grow!

Six fuzzy-like thin limbs were gradually hardening, they will turn into three pairs of strong, long legs!

Jia Yan felt a bit nauseous when he discovered that he was involuntarily spewing some kind of special saliva from his mouth.

The saliva was composed of chitin and protein, and insect’s unique secretions, wrapping Jia Yan’s head and slowly forming the pupa shell.

At the same time, Jiayan’s entire body and outer form were undergoing changes!

The nutrients consumed by such changes were extremely exaggerated.

Fortunately, he had replenished his food sufficiently before, barely resisting the speed of nutrient loss.

He couldn’t imagine how other larvae could get through this.

In fact, this was because Jia Yan himself was an exception.

Insect pupation is a change where they evolve into adults based on the degree of enhancement of the larva.

Jia Yan was very robust, many times stronger than the average larva, so his pupation was naturally extraordinary.

At the moment, Jia Yan hadn’t realized this clearly, but he would eventually understand.

Fortunately, Jia Yan had prepared well and had eaten enough food to distend his stomach.

Jia Yan found that his exoskeleton began to stick together; he could now only maintain the pupa’s state.

The pupation state of a larva is quite unique amongst all insects.

Other insects are basically immobile after pupation, only a larva is still able to wriggle its tail after pupation, which is considered a weak movement.

“Since I can still move, I’ll keep training for the strengthening of the adult body!”

Jia Yan looked at the pebble wall in front of him, his eyes fierce.

He controlled his body and rammed into the wall!

He was one step away from forming his future body.

After all the hard effort he’d put in before, this last step was the most important.

He wouldn’t let all the effort he put in before be in vain!

With the dramatic changes occurring in his body, the continual external impacts allowed him to adjust his body to adapt to those external shocks.

These changes in the newborn, started to evolve towards another height!

“Hit hit hit!”

The previous four molting enhancements were all to pave the way for this time.

It wouldn’t make sense to give up self-strengthening training during this final evolutionary growth period.

Indeed, an insect’s body is very strong, and they will continue to grow, embracing their larval state.

In other words, since Jia Yan was very robust in his larva stage, when he evolved into a mosquito, he would remain just as robust!

And now he was still continuing to strive so that this robustness would continue to increase.

With four molts and pupa transformation strengthening, no one could imagine what kind of terrifying monster would emerge in the end!

The shell hardened further, and Jia Yan found that apart from his tail, his body was completely immobile.

If he couldn’t hit fast enough, he would forcefully grind against the pebble!

If he didn’t have the strength to grind, he would wriggle his body and struggle forcefully!

Anyway, his aim was to make his body stronger, and even more so!

But no matter how he wriggles and struggles, Jia Yan ensured that his body was never away from the small pebble house.

Out in the world, safety was not guaranteed.

Only here was his safe and warm little nest.

Wriggle!

Collision!

Fatigue!

Lack of oxygen!

Pain!

All sorts of things were happening.

Apart from occasionally going out for a breath, Jia Yan spent all the rest of his time hidden in the den.

His ability to hold his breath had now reached a full hour, which he believed had already broken the record for larvae.

The process of pupa transformation was too exhausting.

The body under his transformation not only had to provide a large amount of nutrients for body growth but also had to provide a large amount of consumption for struggle and impact.

After two days like this, the nutrients originally stored in his body were no longer enough, and a strong sense of weakness filled Jia Yan’s body.

“Normally, larvae can successfully emerge from their pupa and evolve into mosquitoes in two days.

However, I have no signs of breaking out of my pupa yet.

So now I have to reduce my movement a little, otherwise, I won’t be able to endure it!”

Jia Yan reduced his range of movement.

He floated and sunk in the water, perhaps this was the most relaxed and content he had felt in so many days since his rebirth.

“I wonder how home is doing.

Luckily, I’m not an only child; even without me, mom and dad still have my little sister,” he thought of home.

When Jia Yan was human, his family circumstances were nothing out of the ordinary.

Both parents were salaried workers.

And he had a sixteen-year-old little sister, little Jia Yan.

On the whole, the family wasn’t wealthy but they were not lacking either.

But now that Jia Yan is dead, this dreadful news would surely bring pain to the family, right?…

“Now that I’ve become a mosquito, if there’s a chance, I should go home and check on them.”

Jia Yan missed his family; it had been over ten days since he became a larva, images of his family’s smiling faces would often appear in his mind and dreams.

He worries if those smiles still exist.

Would his mother cry for a long time when news of his horrific death reached home?

Would his father smoke heavily?…

Thinking of his parents, a sour feeling could not help but spring up in Jia Yan’s heart.

If he were still human, he probably would have shed some tears…

But he wasn’t.

As a pupating larva, he floated silently in the water.

He stared intently at the ground below as if in a trance.

Engulfed in his memories and a mix of emotions, another day passed by.

The day – marked the third day of his pupa transformation!

Jia Yan suddenly felt itchy all over his body!

“It’s time!”

Jia Yan was startled!

The biological instinct told him that the moment for him to break from his pupal case and transform into a male mosquito had arrived.

Jia Yan turned his gaze and, through the exterior of the pupa case, strained to see his little pebbly nest.

His eyes could hardly see anything, but his attention was wholly concentrated on the first nest he’d ever made.

A moment later, Jia Yan sighed deeply in his heart.

“Goodbye, my home…”

Then he propelled his body upwards towards the surface using his tail.

The Aquatic Chafer neighbor, who was lurking in the sediment at the bottom of the water, stared coldly at the gigantic mosquito pupa rapidly ascending to the surface.

“Big guy, you too, goodbye!”

Many organisms and some newborn larvae were foraging in the water, swimming about.

“Goodbye, underwater world!”

Jia Yan reached the water’s surface.

Then he began to forcefully struggle from his head.

The pupa’s casing was very tough; only by giving it his all could he possibly break free!

After a long struggle, the casing started to loosen.

“Split for me!” Jia Yan shouted inwardly!

Pop!

The head part of the pupa case indeed cracked.

Jia Yan, impatient as ever, extended his newborn head from the crack and desperately tried to wriggle out.

Push!

Push harder!

The head!

The abdomen!

The tail!

The legs!

Three minutes later, a giant male mosquito floated on the pond’s surface.

“Finally, I’ve become a mosquito!”

Standing on the water’s surface, Jia Yan shouted wildly in his heart!

Yu Yuan, wait for me, I’ll come to take revenge soon!

Dad, mom, little sister, after I take my revenge, I will find a way to come and see you!

At night, on the water’s surface, a black male Anopheles mosquito shouted silently to the sky.
