Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

7: Chapter 7: First Flight [Seeking Collection!]_1 7: Chapter 7: First Flight [Seeking Collection!]_1 The sky was pitch-black, and the vast earth was only filled with the rhythmic chirping of some crickets and birds.

But, that’s just what human senses perceive!

Factually, the earth at night is equally bustling!

Chirping of birds and insects, dances of mosquitoes, all kinds of nocturnal creatures are on the move.

Jia Yan stood on the surface of the water, looking at his newly reborn body in the faint moonlight reflected off the water.

He was mighty with robust bones and full wings!

Looking quite awe-inspiring!

“So I am indeed a male mosquito, more precisely, a Chinese Anopheles!” Jia Yan nodded.

The Chinese Anopheles, a type within the Anopheles subspecies, is found in most parts of the country except for places like Xinjiang.

Its veins are slightly white, most of its body is covered with tiny scales, and its belly membrane has a ‘T’-shaped white patch!

This is the main characteristic of a Chinese Anopheles.

“Well, this Chinese Anopheles seems a bit oversized.” Jia Yan was amazed by his own body.

“Had it not been for some details, I could still discern, I almost couldn’t recognize it!”

Surprise aside, Jia Yan understood these were the results of his long-term training, without such effects, he would be annoyed.

Jia Yan stood on the surface of the water, keeping an alert watch on his surroundings, waiting for his wings to harden enough to fly.

At this point, another newly born Chinese Anopheles, just as him, laboriously crawled out of the water.

Compared to this petite Chinese Anopheles now before him, Jia Yan was humongous, nearly half longer, black exoskeleton, based purely on appearance, definitely sturdier than the other.

The moment it noticed Jia Yan’s massive size, it was startled and scared to tumble back into the water!

Three pairs of long legs face the sky, the six legs are in the water, paddling nonstop!

“Pfft!” Jia Yan couldn’t help but laugh!

“Hahaha, hope I didn’t scare you, brother!”

He was very joyful.

After waiting a few more minutes, Jia Yan tried to control the wings on his back.

Controlling the wings felt extraordinary, or rather, for Jia Yan now, any kind of movement was a unique and fresh experience.

He not only had wings on his body, but also three pairs of long legs, in other words, six legs.

For a brain of a human, controlling such a body was a task, almost couldn’t even walk properly.

Sometimes when he wanted to move the left front leg, it turned out to be the left middle leg that stretched out.

Sometimes he wanted to flap his wings, but the pair of rear legs were flapping with all their might.

He simply couldn’t control them well!

“Huh, seems like the wings are hard enough!” During another try, Jia Yan was delighted!

He slowly put in effort.

_Buzzing buzzing buzzing…_

The wings beat faster and faster!

Finally, he felt his feet leave the ground!

He was actually flying!

Jia Yan was extremely excited!

When he was a human, he had dreamed of trying gliding wings, or skydiving, to experience the thrill of flying in the sky.

But till his rebirth, none of these wishes had been fulfilled, not to mention skydiving, he had never even been on an airplane!

He didn’t expect that being reborn as a mosquito would let him experience this feeling!

It was even more thrilling, he was actually controlling the flight himself!

Jia Yan staggeringly controlled his body, ascended into the night sky.

_Buzzing buzzing buzzing buzzing buzzing…_

When he was a human, the buzzing of a mosquito was quite irritating.

But now as a mosquito himself, listening to the sound he made while beating his wings to fly, it was a different feeling entirely!

It was like a helicopter, super cool!

The water surface was slowly getting farther, and the scenery around him was gradually shrinking.

Mosquitoes have hearts too, made from large tubular arteries.

At this moment, Jia Yan could feel that the beat of his tubular arteries, or in other words, the heartbeat, had risen by several notches.

It was called an accelerated heartbeat!

Really thrilling!

The higher he flew, the more Jia Yan realized that the pond where he had been living all the time was not as huge as he had imagined, it was about the same size as a basketball court.

The pond was filthy and cluttered, some humans had even dumped garbage in one corner of the pond.

Even the grey organic matter he used to eat every day might be the remnant of some kind of spoilt human food.

Jia Yan didn’t dare to think further, he was afraid he would throw up!

So this is what the world where he first lived looked like…

He surveyed the pond below him, controlled his body to hover in the air for a while.

My ‘nest’ seems to be in that corner…

No wonder that area was so clean, there was a tiny stream of water flowing into the pond from there.

Jia Yan sighed.

At this moment, his mosquito brother, who had been thrashing in the water for a while, also crawled out of the water!

This guy didn’t even look at his larger brother flying in the air, and with a single flap of his wings, he showed off a flight prowess much stronger than that of Jia Yan, a human.

He shot straight into the sky!

Jia Yan watched as his mosquito brother flew toward an open space in the distance.

There, countless mosquitoes formed a column, swarming in a chaotic dance!

No one knew how many there were– hundreds, maybe even thousands.

“Uh.

If I remember correctly, that’s where all the mating mosquitoes gather.

That’s not my concern!”

Jia Yan cast a glance towards the distance and couldn’t help but shake his head.

He was human and although he seemed to possess an instinct driving him to join that mosquito swarm, engange in mating and procreation with ‘mother beauties’, would he actually do it?

Impossible!

Jia Yan spread his wings and took off in the direction opposite to the mosquito swarm.

He found that his wings were powerful, allowing him to fly faster and higher than regular mosquitoes.

What Jia Yan was most concerned about was his proboscis!

His proboscis had clear characteristics of a male Anopheles mosquito, overall it was thin, and there was a slight upturn at the front.

Compared to the stout proboscis of female mosquitoes, the proboscis of the male mosquito was too thin, and the evolution of the upper and lower lips hadn’t reached the level of the female mosquito, making it difficult to pierce animal skin.

So largely, male Anopheles don’t satisfy the blood-sucking requirements.

However, Jia Yan was different!

His proboscis was also thin, but this was only relative!

Just like his huge size, his proboscis was larger too.

When it came to the proboscis, although there was still a gap compared to female Anopheles, it was incomparable to the ordinary male mosquito!

“Indeed, my proboscis isn’t as long and strong as a female’s, but after twenty days of training, it has changed!”

“Even though it’s not yet as good as a female mosquito, it’s definitely a big step up compared to regular male mosquitoes!

It’s just unknown whether I can suck blood or not.”

“After transforming into a pupa, I haven’t eaten anything, nutrients are being lost rapidly, and I can feel that the act of moving is consuming my life force, I have to find food soon!”

Whoosh—

Just as Jia Yan decided to find food, suddenly, a strange wind sound echoed from behind him.

It was the sound of an extremely fast object flying in the air!

Jia Yan’s sensitive ‘ears’, composed of fine hairs, quickly caught the sound, and then, he felt a sudden surge of danger in his heart!

“It’s a predator that hunts mosquitoes!

Run!” He screamed in his heart!

The giant Anopheles, made a sudden vertical drop in the air!

Jia Yan felt a creature, large and nightmarish, narrowly pass over his head!

It opened its mouth to bite, but failed to catch the quickly dodging Jia Yan!

That was huge!

Jia Yan was astounded!

Since Jia Yan was reborn as a larva, the largest predator he had seen was the Aquatic Chafer, and now this creature was several times larger!

This monster had a ferocious look, both wings were bare without a single feather.

It was black in color, agile in the darkness, a natural born night-time assassin!

It was a bat!

Jia Yan was so scared his six legs nearly gave way.

His newborn wings flapped furiously, causing him to dive even faster forward!

The bat seemed to take a liking to this giant mosquito, so it gracefully turned in the air and once again swooped towards Jia Yan.

Jia Yan suddenly swerved to the left!

With the soul of a human, his evasive actions were definitely smarter than any ordinary mosquito.

The bat once again brushed past Jia Yan’s body, the gust of wind it kicked up even caused Jia Yan to tumble several times in the air.

It seemed the bat gave up this time, flew into the pitch black night sky, and quickly disappeared from sight!

“That was terrifying!”

Jia Yan, shaken, lowered his flying altitude.

Having just emerged from the pond as a mosquito, his excitement apparently made him forget how this outside world could be even more dangerous for mosquitoes than the pond!

There are more predators here, they often spring out from unexpected places and gobble you up!

“I must be careful, very, very careful!”

Jia Yan flew in a staggered manner.

He was starving, but seeing danger everywhere, he didn’t dare land in the weeds to sip nectar or plant juices.

What should he do…
