39: Chapter 39: A Family Reunion!

[Seeking Collection]_1 39: Chapter 39: A Family Reunion!

[Seeking Collection]_1 Buzz, buzz, buzz…

The night sky is speckled with stars, with a radiant full moon casting its light from above.

Under the moonlight, a huge, dark male Anopheles is flying in the middle of the road.

This mosquito, with its beautiful exoskeleton, exudes a grace impossible for any ordinary mosquito to possess.

After flying past a desolate area, the male Anopheles looks back at the distance it has covered.

There, an unfinished building…

Yu Yuan, the object of his great vengeance, his breathless corpse lies there in silence.

“Finally, vengeance is mine!

Using this insignificant mosquito body, I have killed step by step this wealthy human offspring, Yu Yuan!”

Jia Yan’s emotions could not settle.

From the moment of his rebirth, he had always been clamoring for revenge in his mind.

But realizing this through a mosquito’s body proved extremely difficult, to a point even he questioned it.

But he never gave up, striving tirelessly to complete each short-term goal.

The result of his steadfastness was his eventual success!

Buzz, buzz, buzz…

The mosquito continued to fly.

Jia Yan saw a bus running not far away and flew directly over to it!

An hour passed slowly during the ride.

The bus was quiet with few passengers.

The moon hanging in the night sky was growing brighter.

Its pallid light pierced through the thin layer of clouds, casting a surreal, yet real reflection on the earth.

It draped a mysterious veil over the enormous international metropolis.

Jia Yan wasn’t sure if it was his illusion, but he felt that the city, which was home to countless dreams, seemed a bit less restless, a bit more peaceful today.

Perhaps this was the change in mentality, leading to different perspectives on things.

Finally, the bus stopped at a remote station.

Jia Yan identified the route and floated out of the bus door.

After getting off the bus, he searched for the path once more and flew toward a residential area which looked like a community.

In this inconspicuous and aged residential area, there were numerous basements.

Some owners transformed these basements into houses suitable for simple living.

A multitude of young people who came to hustle in Shanghai live here, hoping that their dreams would come true one day.

Among these young faces, a particularly youthful girl stood out.

The people didn’t know her real name, only her nickname, ‘Little Lin’.

It was said that this eighteen-year-old girl was a high school student before last month, and for some reason, she ended up in Shanghai all by herself.

Perhaps she would go back to continue her schooling after some time.

“Little Lin, why did you dress up like that the day before yesterday?”

A girl, who appeared to be in her early twenties, sat in the cramped basement room.

Her name was Pang Yanqi, and the youngsters in the neighborhood liked to call her Xiao Qi.

Next to her was a young girl browsing the internet on a laptop.

This young girl was ‘Little Lin’.

Not many people knew that this girl, who had been in Shanghai for less than a month, bore the desire for revenge for her brother.

They thought she had merely quarreled with her family and ran away.

Only the basement tenant, ‘Pang Yanqi,’ had an idea about the girl’s special intention.

After meeting Little Lin for a month, Little Qi, the ‘princess’ of the sleepless city, had once accompanied her guests in drinking till past midnight a month ago.

On her way home, she saw ‘Little Lin’ huddled by the side of the road, her face stained with tears.

Incidents like this were quite common in a large city like Shanghai.

Sometimes, Xiao Qi would encounter similar situations multiple times a month.

If such girls were ignored, they might go astray or grow stronger in adversity.

But the possibility of encountering bad people was much higher!

Usually, Little Qi would ignore such scenes, but that day, for some reason, perhaps due to the alcohol or the girl’s naive and adorable face that stirred her sympathy.

Little Qi halted her steps, then walked over gently and started to show concern for the girl…

What followed was natural.

Little Lin, a naive girl, was quickly moved by the caring stranger’s sisterly affections.

Without any guard, she followed Little Qi back to her rented basement room!

Watching a month go by, and seeing the innocent and cute Jia Lin, Little Qi thought to herself a few days ago, “It’s a good thing I’m not a bad person, otherwise this girl would have definitely been deceived badly.”

Little Lin found a job in a bakery within a month and was said to be investigating something.

After a month of interaction, Pang Yanqi and the young people nearby had all grown fond of this unsuspecting, yet innocent and cute girl.

But two nights ago, Little Qi, who got off work early and returned home, found that Jia Lin had secretly borrowed her clothes and makeup, applied an inexperienced light makeup, and returned home from the outside in the middle of the night.

The feeling was difficult for Little Qi to describe, it was like her real sister had taken the wrong path.

On the spot, she scolded Little Lin severely!

The reason was still unknown, but she had vaguely felt that things were not as she had imagined.

Therefore, she took advantage of tonight’s quiet hours and specially asked for leave.

She chatted with Jia Lin in the room for a long time, and finally, after both had calmed down, she addressed her query.

“Sister Xiaoqi, I really can’t say it…” Little Lin hesitated for a moment, unable to utter a word.

Jia Lin truly felt sorry.

She could never reveal her true purpose in this city, which was to find the successor of the Yu family and take revenge.

Such a thought would certainly startle Xiao Qi.

Moreover, she was merely young, and not really naive.

She knew what things can be told and what can’t!

“Okay, I won’t press on, but you promise me that you won’t come back this late again, okay?” Little Qi said seriously.

“Hmm…”

Just as Jia Lin was about to reply, her eyes, which were browsing the computer, suddenly stopped!

The web page read: Local rich man and son of the Yu family, one dead and one missing, what exactly is the reason?!

She could no longer care about answering Pang Yanqi, urgently scrolling her mouse to view the main body of the article.

After a moment, Jia Lin’s shoulders began to tremble, and large tears slid down her baby-fat cheeks and onto the ground.

A giant Chinese Anopheles mosquito had been sitting in front of the door for quite some time, observing.

Seeing Jia Lin burst into tears again, Jia Yan sighed deeply in his heart…

“Little sister, you’ve shed too many tears for your brother.

Now that Yu Yuan is dead, you should return to your normal life.

This would ease your brother’s mind.”

“Little Lin, what’s the matter with you?” In the room, Pang Yanqi was somewhat at a loss as she comforted Jia Lin.

Why did she suddenly start crying?

Pang Yanqi looked at the article on the computer screen thoughtfully.

Jia Yan continued to watch.

This wasn’t all he did for his little sister.

After all, she had been running away from home for a month.

Given her personality, she might choose to continue living in Shanghai for fear of being scolded by her family when she goes home.

However, he had already arranged for two assassins to handle the things…

These characters were people he had seen earlier!

“Auntie, Little Lin whom I was talking about lives here!”

A young man guided a middle-aged couple towards the basement.

This middle-aged couple looked haggard: the man was bald, and even the remaining hair had many white strands.

Despite being only in their forties, they looked as old as people in their fifties or sixties.

The woman was also pale and didn’t seem too old, yet her skin was yellow and her lips dry and chapped.

Most notably, her eyes were swollen red as if she shed tears every day, and her eyesight seemed to have deteriorated a lot.

Seeing these two, Jia Yan cried out in his heart: “Dad…Mom…”

“I’m an unworthy son.

I can only meet you in this body now and can no longer kneel to apologize!”

This past month, the grief and tears I’ve caused you, the graying of your hair, and the sadness you’ve felt, were all my doing!

As a mosquito, Jia Yan was on the verge of falling, his emotions surging.

However, the young man knocked on the door.

“Xiaoqi, Little Lin, are you there?”

The old couple looked at each other, their palms tightly gripped together.

They were both extremely tense.

Their son was dead, and their daughter disappeared immediately after!

All of this happened within one month!

God only knows how they’ve gotten through this past month.

Nobody knows the price they’ve paid to find their daughter, their last kin.

They only knew that they received a call from a stranger last night.

The man on the phone was cold and simply told them that their daughter had run away to Shanghai and had settled down there.

Without any hesitation, they took a train straight to the city where their son had died.

Whether their daughter was inside and whether their expedition was in vain or not depended on the moment the door opened!

Click!

The basement door opened.

An unfamiliar girl’s face reflected in the couple’s eyes.

Their hearts sank in an instant!

“Who are you?” the young girl asked in confusion.

The young man leading the way was about to explain, but then a young girl’s face appeared in the doorway.

She was stunned by the sight of the couple.

The next instant, the girl burst into tears!

“Dad, Mom!”

Without caring about the possibility of being scolded, weighing the hardships of the past month, the difficulties of the investigation into her brother’s death, the fear and helplessness she felt when facing her enemy – everything was transformed into grievance and sadness.

Seeing her parents, Jia Lin let go of her guard!

She dashed out of the room and into her parents’ embrace!

Pang Yanqi and the young man leading the way quickly understood what was happening.

They exchanged glances and smiled at the crying family of three…

The daughter cried and nestled in her parents’ arms, the father silently wiped his eyes, the mother nagged while her tears rolled down her cheeks!

“Dad, Mom…

Little sister, I hope that you can forget about me from now on and live happier lives…”

Amid this reunion scene, a large black mosquito flapped its wings and flew into the night sky.

Jia Yan was leaving.

His business in Shanghai was finished.

Perhaps he should visit Ding Li Meng, but for Jia Yan, the girl he once admired and died for was already a thing of the past.

Maybe it’s best to keep her as a beautiful part of his school life memories…

He was going to follow his own path now, the path to extending his life and becoming stronger!

Little did he know, when Jia Yan rose into the sky under the moonlight…

Jia Lin, who was weeping, happened to look up and notice the giant mosquito.

Its silhouette seemed incredibly lonely.

This mosquito looked very similar to the one she saw in the Yu Family Courtyard the day before yesterday…

Jia Lin watched the mosquito, and a familiar feeling resurfaced in her heart.

But she didn’t understand where this inexplicable familiarity came from.

All she could do was watch the large mosquito fly higher and higher until it disappeared into the night sky…

Goodbye…

For some reason, Jia Lin said goodbye to this giant mosquito in her heart.
