Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4044  Rivals?

”Ha!”

Dark blue-gold flames surged from a golden-robed man. These terrifying yin-yang flames sunk into the ground, creating a huge explosion when suddenly, two figures flickered away from it and landed hidden behind two mounds.

”Dammit! Youʼve become too strong!”

”Just wait until I also undergo my evolution and then Iʼll show you, Soaren!”

Andiron and Fenrenʼs screams echoed from behind the mounds while Soaren hovered in the skies, his lips curling from a sense of superiority.

He was a variant Grand Saint Magical Beast, one rank above Saint Magical Beasts and powerful enough to overcome fellow Grand Saint Magical Beasts due to his variance, not to mention possessing King-Tier Bloodline, which put him above most normal Grand Saint Magical Beasts. How could he not be proud?

Looking smug, he raised his right hand and summoned a sphere of dark blue-gold flames above his palm.

”How are my new flames? These are yin-yang flames, perfectly blended and capable of roasting you two into an appetizing meal. I call it flames of vengeance, and hence, Iʼm not an Infernal Sunfire Crow but an Infernal Devilflame Crow.”

”Youʼve already spoken of your new race name many times.”

”Enough of it, bald crow!”

”Iʼm not bald!” Soaren growled before he attacked.

”Ah!”

Andiron and Fenren were sent flying without an iota of doubt.

Fortunately, Soaren had lowered his cultivation base in addition to his prowess, so Fenren and Andiron were somewhat surviving under his onslaught. They looked scorched and miserable.

”How did you achieve such a variance…?” Myriaʼs voice was full of astonishment and praise.

She turned to look at Davis, who was also observing from her side. Behind them was Everlight, who was also a little more than intrigued.

Davis gave them a profound look before he raised his voice, ”Donʼt go overboard. This is just to see if you three can learn each otherʼs moves and synchronize when needed.”

*BoooM!~*

There was no reply. Just waves of scorching flames roaring across the void dust land and a few screams.

”Well, itʼs not that difficult. I just had to roast him in a cauldron and had to roast myself along with him in order to monitor the process…”

”…?” Myria frowned and looked worried.

Her limpid eyes held concern for him as she didnʼt doubt what she heard but wondered what made the two of them go this far before she shook her head, knowing the men were feeling the brunt of wanting to survive without wanting to lose anyone.

”Explain properly, please.” She asked, causing Davis to nod and go through the process with much more detail.

His expression was animated, and he used a lot of gestures, allowing Myria to imagine much more freely, yet it made her flinch as the details were quite gruesome.

”Infernal Devilflame Crow huh… not a bad name…” Drake uttered, ”A cool name, in fact…”

On another mountain, Drake, Zenflame, and Rocksunder were seated, lightly drinking high-quality wine. He joined with his main body since it was decided that they would not be leaving anytime soon. He sighed lightly, thinking it was not anytime soon he would reach their level.

He was still a Level Seven Immortal King, after all.

Two of his wives he gained in the First Haven World, Isolde Moonshadow, and Elowen Frostbloom, had entered the Immortal Emperor Stage thanks to Ellia having unraveled and devising a way for them to improve their physiques, Moonlit Dream Yin Body and Mystic Ice Yin Body to the Immortal Emperor Grade.

However, even with dual cultivation, his body couldnʼt handle the tremendous increase in cultivation.

So, he was forced to stay in the Late Immortal King Stage for some time. Battling and wasting energy a lot was a good way to get his body accustomed to this power and allow him to improve, but he just wasnʼt in the mood for it. Almost every one of his friends was stronger than him that he felt helpless. He wanted to be of help, but his cultivation wasnʼt rising.

So he was stuck here for the time being, and having children really scared him for the future.

He turned to look at Davis in the distance, wondering how this guy wasnʼt fearful or just didnʼt care, but nowadays, his children seemed to really stick to him, so he understood Davis was being a good father now.

He wanted to emulate Davisʼs confidence, but his cultivation speed was lacking.

”Damn it… I need to get the Immortal Emperor Stage and reach the Peak Stage as soon as possible…!”

He groaned and chugged another mouthful of wine. It was a delicacy, but he didnʼt bother about it and let his mind enter a clouded state.

Zenflame and Rocksunder looked at him, their lips curling in amusement.

Zenflame opened his mouth, ”Youʼre just a damn brat, but you want to reach our cultivation level with lightning speed? Keep calm and cultivate.”

”But he- but he…” Drake pointed at Davis.

”That one is different.” Rocksunder sighed, ”That monstrosity makes me feel defeated every time I even try to compare myself to him. I have seen his wives battle in the Candidacy like Fairy Isabella. I canʼt match her in prowess, but she canʼt even match him. Itʼs better not to see him as a peer because his opponents arenʼt fellow supreme geniuses but higher-stage cultivators who want to end him.”

”…” Zenflame appeared solemn, having no comment.

Only he knew how, even after taking a Gilded Realm Ascendant Pill of Minor Realm, they couldnʼt reach the foot of his prowess. It was really vexing since they lived their lives as supreme geniuses but ended up seeing the wider world of Divergents who broke their common sense.

”Thereʼs no need to worry, Drake. In the common world, youʼre extremely strong. You would enjoy a great status and privilege. Besides, you have just started cultivating from our perspective.”

”But he also just started-”

Rocksunder quickly interrupted, ”Thereʼs no need to compare yourself to an Anarchic Divergent. When you become an Anarchic Divergent, you can compare yourself to him. However, to have him as a goal would be good. I am getting stronger every day, knowing there are no limits above. Donʼt you see? His presence is paving the way for everyone else to become powerful.”

”I know, I know…” Drake leaned back and sighed heavily, ”Itʼs just that… back then… we were almost in the same cultivation base, similar prowess, and I saw him as an equal and friend, rivals who would strengthen each other but to be left behind like that doesnʼt really feel good… Do I still have the face to see him as an equal and call him a friend when heʼs the one making most of the concessions to us…?”

”…”

Zenflame and Rocksunderʼs expressions went awkward. It was true that they were receiving more benefits than they helped him. It was a case that embarrassed them occasionally, but since Davis was magnanimous, they didnʼt bother much with it until Drake pointed it out.

However, they werenʼt shaken.

Zenflame raised his brows, ”To be a sworn brother is to suffer a loss when in surplus and go above and beyond when one is in danger. Isnʼt that why Soaren decided to stay and protect this realm since Davis is restricted by the covenant? Isnʼt that why you left your family in the pocket realms to confirm his life and death back then?”

”…”

Drake shuddered. His eyes were wide as though he realized something before he leaned back and snored, appearing to be out cold.

”…”

Zenflame and Rocksunder were stunned. It seemed like he drank too much. They shook their heads, feeling it was nice to be a youngster.

”I get it!” Drake suddenly stood up and roared, ”Prowess doesnʼt decide our friendship! It is the emotions behind it! Hahaha!”

”Haha.” Zenflame and Rocksunder were also full of laughter, their cheeks flushed from the feeling of a drunken stupor.

But suddenly, they went silent as they saw a reaper standing behind Drake.

The reaper abruptly grabbed Drake by the neck with his arm around, choking him.

”Help-! My evil frend- is killung- me!”

Drake reached out to them while Davis firmly kept him in place and choked him.

”What are you doing drinking when you should be training your skills? You lazy dual cultivator who only likes to be surrounded by bosoms. If you keep this up, you will never catch up to me!”

Davis roared with a huge smile on his face but blinked since the atmosphere turned silent while Drake stopped struggling.

He let go of Drake, wondering if he had gone too far, but Drake stepped forward and held onto the table, his eyes wide before he turned to look at Davis.

”You think I can catch up to you?”

”Of course. Why not?” Davis blinked, ”Itʼs not like I have reached the apex myself, and the world is everchanging, but catching up is all you can do. No one can surpass me.”

He smirked with blind confidence, causing Drake and the others to gawk.

”Fuck! Iʼd become stronger just to wipe that smirk off your face, brother! Ahhh~”

Drake jumped to Davis and embraced him, crying out loud.

On the other hand, Davis shuddered. He didnʼt want to be embraced by a man like that but knew this was the effect of Drake being drunk. It made him smile before he sent Drake flying.

Drake cleared the alcohol in his blood and came running.

”You wouldnʼt say something like that just to console me. What do you have in mind? A treasure?”

”Yes. It will make you impotent and an Anarchic Divergent.”

Drake looked at Davis seriously, wanting to listen, but the moment he heard Davisʼs answer, he tripped, crashing face-first into the ground.
