Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4007  A Bold Rabbit?

”Guess I was desperate to make you listen that I offered an alternative without thinking…” Lea looked the other way and dryly replied.

”…”

Davis was speechless. It seemed like his women loved giving him other women as rewards. It was typical of empresses and concubines wanting to make their emperor joyous by offering him young and pure women, but he never thought there would come a day when his women would also be actively doing it.

The first to do that was Isabella, who offered him her prisoners, Bylai and Zestria. At that time, he still had his heart open, so he couldnʼt help but fall to temptation, and he was glad he did because he loved Bylai and Zestria from the bottom of his heart today and would continue to do so.

But Lea offering Illumina…?

Davis couldnʼt believe that Lea had changed so much. In the beginning, she wasnʼt willing to even look at him despite the feelings she had for him because she had high standards for herself and her future husband, but eventually, she knew what she wanted from having nightmares in the form of Heart Demons.

She willingly lowered her standards to be with him. It could be said that he was a great influence on her, but he didnʼt want to make her feel that she lost out again. He was willing to listen to her if that was what it took to make her happy.

This made Davis look at Illumina.

She was certainly endearing and loyal, but his heart didnʼt go as far as to fall in love with her. Right now, she was just like Zora Luan to him, a female acquaintance that he wouldnʼt go as far as to use his life but still take one or more steps to make sure they were safe.

”Wait… how do you know if Illumina is chaste?” He asked Lea.

After all, if Lea was suggesting Illumina, then that means they had-

”We vetted her. Donʼt worry~” Lea replied smugly.

”…”

Davis blinked. Thinking back slightly, he knew it was Mingzhi. She was the only one other than him who would be able to determine the truth, but to think they put Illumina through such a questioning session. He couldnʼt help but raise his brows at Illumina.

She actually answered their questions?

”I… I am prepared to follow masterʼs commands anytime.”

Sensing his gaze, Illumina blurted out.

Davis felt his heart pierced by a shrill arrow laced with potent affection. It practically lowered his defenses in half, but it only made him smile gently.

”Illumina, Iʼm happy you would go that far, but value yourself more. Iʼm already a man who is fulfilled. There is little space for others.”

Illuminaʼs rabbit ears raised. She looked at him with a strange gaze before she looked away.

”We… we wouldnʼt know until… we try… master…”

”…”

Davisʼs eyes were wide as saucers. Did he just hear Illumina being assertive? That bloodthirsty and cold rabbit that wouldʼve done anything to protect her former master was now like an innocent doll seeking affection?

He couldnʼt believe his eyes.

He certainly didnʼt know what to say. The atmosphere was rather awkward and hot for him right now.

Illumina looked especially delicate, which repeatedly provoked his manhood to take action.

However, he was saved by Tia and Hailac, having woken up. They crashed the party and made things more fun as they explained what kind of defenses they had just placed and how even the Celestial Transcendent would be hard-pressed to find it unless he was close enough to the opening, which was hidden.

After all, a Mystic Divinerʼs divination and other abilities were determined by their skills, uniqueness, and the resources they used. Their cultivation base also played a part, but it was relatively minor compared to their comprehension since Karma Laws were extremely vague. Luck also played a huge part.

Sometimes, even an Early Immortal King Mystic Diviner can be comparable to a Peak Immortal Emperor Mystic Diviner. This was one such scenario where Tiaʼs Karmic Guardian Physique was of immense help along with the High-Level Empyrean Grade resource from the Mystical Herb Mansion she used.

Davis even suspected that Tiaʼs Karmic Guardian Physique was at Empyrean Grade after the events of the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm, although he couldnʼt be too sure.

Shortly, Davis took his leave and went to see Vereina.

She was still sleeping, softly heaving. He sat on the chair beside her, throwing one leg over the other as he reclined and stared at her. He waited for a few minutes, but he quickly got bored.

”…!”

Abruptly, he released killing intent.

Vereinaʼs eyes shot wide open, and a dagger appeared in her hands out of nowhere, heading towards Davis. Just as the dagger coated in poison was barely away from grazing his cheek, she managed to forcefully stop and look at him with wide eyes, her glare changing into one of confusion before a sigh escaped her mouth.

”Seriously…?” She plunged her bottom back on the bed, throwing her dagger back into her spatial ring.

”As expected of a survivalist. Your senses are vastly sharp enough to forcibly jolt you into protecting yourself…”

Davis couldnʼt help but smile.

Vereinaʼs bosoms heaved, ”And you are as crazy as ever.”

She abruptly held her head, feeling a splitting headache.

”Are you fine?” Davis raised his brows.

He thought he healed her completely? Did the forceful awakening harm her slightly?

”Yeah, itʼs just my soul physique throbbing… possibly from the aftermath…” Vereina rubbed her head before staring at him.

”…” Davis blinked.

He kept a poker face, waiting for Vereina to confess or apologize or whatever it was. He wasnʼt going to let her say that it didnʼt happen.

”Thank you…” Vereina opened her mouth, her expression soft, ”I wouldnʼt be alive if it wasnʼt for you.”

”Youʼre welcome, but the fault also partly lies with me, so letʼs just say weʼre even.”

”What fault? Do you mean the dark smoke remnants? That was my decision. I was greedy enough to absorb them while I was still weak, so it was deserved. You have nothing to take accountability for.”

Vereina shook her head. Her words made Davis blink. His gaze was as though he had renewed his opinion of her.

”Iʼll take you up on your offer then. Anything else you want to say?” Davis prompted her.

Vereina blinked. She looked away, her brows furrowing before she looked at him again, ”Thank you again? I understand that I almost got possession, and I owe it to you for saving me from that wretched old witch, but you canʼt trap me with that, you know.”

”…?”

Davis frowned, ”You-”

”Wait. I really want you to know that Iʼm grateful, and I would do anything you ask of me, including giving you a sexual favor, but that would only be limited to a kiss, and it would last one second and one time. Thatʼs all~”

She looked away, her cheeks unusually crimson, ”Just so you know, I have never kissed before, much less intimately touched a man. If you want more, then I would have to decline. If anything, I would like to pursue you myself and make you acknowledge me before I- ah, donʼt make me say it!~ʼ

Vereina yelled at him coyly, turned to look away completely to the other side, and laid down, throwing the blanket over herself.

”…”

Davisʼs eyes were wide as he gazed at Vereina. She may have said her piece and appeared to be romantically interested in him. His Heart Intent could also tell that it was true.

However-

”You forgot you stole a kiss from me?”

”Huh?”

A loud yet confused voice echoed from Vereina.
