Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4042  Worried Sick?

Davis stopped in front of the entrance to his mansion as a few people surrounded him. There were six of them.

Their expressions were solemn, causing him to enter a battle state as he bent back slightly and raised his hands.

”Is this an extortion scam?”

”No!”

Almost everyone tripped on the spot, their expressions turning wry before they laughed dryly.

The tension in the air lifted with Davisʼs antics.

They looked at him with amusement before Drake opened his mouth, ”Donʼt be afraid. Weʼre not here to rob you clean. Instead, weʼre here to leave.”

”Leave?” Davis raised his brows.

He gave another look at the six friends gathered before him, carefully assessing them.

It was Drake, Zenflame, Rocksunder, Fenren, Soaren and Andiron.

”Well,” Drake tried to explain, ”Accurately, I wouldnʼt be leaving, but my avatar will accompany the others who want to leave. I will go out to gain more knowledge while they- Iʼll leave it to them to explain. On the other hand, I got Kara and Jade Sua pregnant.”

He pursed his lips, his expression one of fear for the future.

”Oh, great!” Davisʼs eyes lit up, ”Congratulations, brother. Finally, you can call yourself a father.”

He nodded, understanding why Drake would want to remain. This mini-realm was proving to be useful in their minds.

Nonetheless, he looked at the others, ”So what is up?”

”Nothing,” Soaren responded, his expression grim, ”I can no longer suppress my worries. I have to see if my family is safe with my own eyes and get them back, or I wonʼt be able to suppress my raging emotions.”

”…” Davisʼs expression turned solemn.

As expected, his brother Soaren was unable to wait after becoming a variant. Perhaps the variant bloodline was also causing him to be irritable or vengeful.

”Me too.” Fenren nodded, ”I have to rescue my family.”

”Needless to say, I will do my best to ensure everyoneʼs survival.” Andiron cupped his hands.

As an Obsidian Crystal Turtle, he was well-versed in Space Laws and was essential to their groupʼs survival.

”We just want to accompany them, help them, and see the world with our own eyes.” Rocksunder gazed into the starry sky.

”True.” Zenflame nodded wisely, ”Even if we go to our families, it will only result in us being unable to demand an answer as to what happened to our descendants with our current strengths. Actually, weʼd be executed on the spot, haha!”

”…”

Davis didnʼt know what to say to them. It seemed like they were determined to head out no matter what he said, but Davis wasnʼt having it.

He gestured, ”Letʼs sit and talk.”

Without waiting for their answer, he walked towards the outer courtyard, where it was suitable for receiving guests.

They sat inside a pagoda canopy where there was a circular table.

Once they took their seats, Davis brought his hand to his forehead and rubbed his glabella.

”Itʼs not like I donʼt understand wanting to check the safety of your family and even reclaim them, but as things stand, I am unable to help.” His voice was helpless.

”That is fine.” Soaren responded, ”You have already done many things for us. We donʼt expect anything other than the passageway.”

”…?” Davis inclined his head in doubt before his brows raised, ”Oh, you were disallowed from leaving?”

”Precisely.” Soaren nodded.

Davis almost wanted to apologize, but he didnʼt. Instead, he inwardly praised his women for firmly locking down the mini-realm. Thanks to them, these reckless brothers of his didnʼt endanger themselves.

”Wait for a month. The Supreme One is here and about, roaming the realms to eliminate threats. You donʼt want to get caught, do you? It would mean certain death, especially since youʼre already an Anarchic Divergent.”

”You say that, but isnʼt it dangerous for many Divergents to be in one place?” Soaren frowned, ”I learned many matters from Praezen after I became an Anarchic Divergent. My family has some of my things, and it can be divined and traced back to me. Isnʼt it too dangerous to have me here?”

”Our families also have some of our things. When combined together, they could absolutely trace it back to us using Mystic Diviners.” Andiron agreed.

”Yes, so weʼll first start with Soarenʼs family, then mine, and finally Andiron, or we all go our separate ways, raid the city, and carry our families away.” Fenren gave an outline for a plan.

”Weʼll help them.” Zenflame and Rocksunder uttered at the same time before the latter continued, ”It will also help us improve our skills and cultivation base.”

”…”

Davis watched them explain that they didnʼt have any viable plan. It was understandable, considering he would also first go and see what moves to make only after getting there, as each and every scenario was different, but this was too dangerous.

He answered, ”First of all, this realm has already been karmically sealed by our Karmic Guardian and it is nearly impossible to divine the location of Anarchic Divergents without sacrifices. Only Fenren and Andiron could be divined now, but this mini realm is protected, so if you step out now and they try to divine even after all those losses and failures, then your locations will be revealed, and all of you will be eliminated. You could also implicate us if you are caught in this Lower Realm. This is not a joking matter, so I suggest you all wait for a month or two until we know that the Supreme One left the Lower Realms.”

”In the meantime, I will do my best to make Fenren and Andiron become Great Saint Magical Beasts as promised.”

Davis suggested and told them to wait.

Fenren and Andiron wavered. They still had not become powerful, so going out might mean they had fewer chances to survive. However, as men, they simply could not sit around while their families were probably being bullied to death, even if they were not openly blamed.

Just thinking about that made their blood boil.

On the other hand, Soaren looked increasingly unconvinced. He took a deep breath and opened his mouth.

”If youʼre worried about the location of this mini-realm being exposed, seal our memories of this place and bind our souls to choke us from letting a word of it. This way, we would not leave any traces of this mini-realm even if we are caught.”

”…”

Davis went speechless. He shook his head, ”This location will be exposed sooner or later. It would only be a matter of time before weʼre besieged and engaged in a skirmish for years to come, so Iʼm not going to restrict you all. However, the timing is important. If they canʼt find you, theyʼre practically waiting for places that we would visit. In other words, your families. Without enough power, you all should never go. You at least need to have the strength of an Empyrean to be able to escape even if you saved them. Otherwise, are you going to get yourself caught with your families by your side and implicate them as well?”

”You-” Soaren clenched his teeth, ”Then why did you come to save us!? You wouldnʼt have enough power if it werenʼt for Saintess Lunariaʼs disciples being there! You wouldnʼt have succeeded in saving us and even died if things went wrong!”

”…”

Davis pursed his lips. Why? He even asked himself that sometimes. After all, his priorities definitely werenʼt his friends but his family.

How stupid did he have to be to lose sight of that priority and leave to save his friends?

He couldnʼt really explain it as he lacked friends in the beginning, and the first friend he made was also a woman, his personal maid, Ellia, before it all went awkward since they both had affectionate feelings for each other.

On the other hand, he liked being with Soaren and the others and fooling around, although the time he spent with them was short. Perhaps it was the trust they placed in each other, making him feel reassured that there were people who were willing to trust in him without expecting anything in return while being able to gladly die for him.

Davisʼs lips moved, ”Isnʼt it because weʼre sworn brothers? Or was I the only one who thought that?”

”…”

Soaren clenched his fists, having no retort for that, but right now, he really wasnʼt in the mood to consider friendship when his family could be suffering.

”Soaren, calm down…” Fenren reached out to his shoulder and firmly held, ”Davis has a point. Thereʼs no point going there if weʼre only going to get caught and implicate our families. We must become stronger. We need to become strong enough to be able to handle an Empyrean by ourselves.”

”I sincerely wish I could accompany you guys to save our sisters, children, and the others, but right now, I have a sword hung over my head. It can fall on me the moment I break the rules.”

”…!?”

Everyone raised their brows.

Davis finally spoke of how he had to exchange his life for ten years of relative peace from the Celestial Transcendent. He told them about the covenant.

At first, he considered whether to tell them or not since the lesser the number of people knew the existence of the covenant, the less people could take advantage of him. However, he felt that there was no way the Supreme One was going to keep quiet about it.

This ten-year period was the chance to force the Divine Emperor of Death to kill a Heavenʼs Warrior or have him step out of the realm he was staying in in order to end his life.

He felt all the Heavenʼs Warriors would know about the covenant, probably even the Realm Masters or many people.

More than anything, he felt if he was going to reveal it to someone other than his family, then who else would it be other than his sworn brothers?

Otherwise, there was no point in asking if he was the only one who thought of them as sworn brothers. That would be hypocritical.

”…”

Hearing about the covenant, Soarenʼs eyes finally regained clarity as he trembled.

His brother was forced to exchange his life for a mere ten-year period. He felt intense anger swell within him.

”Donʼt you ever worry! So what if you canʼt go out or kill those bastards? We will take care of all the mess happening outside in your stead! We just have to become stronger, right!? Fuck, Iʼll do it! Iʼll stay and become stronger than ever!”

Soaren roared, dark blue-gold flames blazing out of his body.
