Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4013  Not A Good Or Bad Start

*Whoosh!~* *Whoosh!~* *Whoosh!~*

There was a big spatial vortex swirling in the mid-air. There were many people below, some clad in armor overseeing and some normal people traversing to and fro from the spatial vortex. The armored cultivators seemed to hold authority over here as they controlled the queue and had those who wished to cross the spatial vortex pay a hefty sum.

It appeared to be an Upper Realm Node, a spatial node that seemed to be leading to the Second Layer of the True Immortal World.

It seemed to be barely away from closing as it fluctuated heavily.

”No!!!”

Many people frantically rushed towards it, but the guards stopped them.

”The heaven and earth have ordained that you people have no luck. Stop entering. The channel inside will become increasingly unstable, and you will be stuck in the void for an eternity or easily die.”

The golden-armored man unleashed his undulations and calmed the crowd. He seemed to be a Peak-Level Sovereign Stage expert, and his undulations were clearly a bit denser than those of an average Level Nine Sovereign.

With his words, the crowd fell silent. Those who managed to make it into the spatial vortex within time rejoiced, and those who couldnʼt, even after paying the toll, looked depressed beyond compare. The latter even cried.

Some of them even sold and left everything to come here and start a new life in the Upper Realms. These nodes barely remained active for one or two days, and three days was already extremely good. As soon as they heard about the Upper Realm Node, they abandoned everything to catch the spatial vortex.

They knew it was extremely difficult to make it in time but still tried because the Upper Realms were more fortuitous and more resourceful as much as there were risks. Becoming an Immortal Emperor or a Sovereign was given if one entered the Upper Realms. They believed that and made the trip. However, two days? An Immortal Emperor could barely complete the journey in a realm from north to south within two days, much less seek the Upper Realm Nodes located in other realms.

The Upper Realm node would close before they could make it.

There was a rumor that the longest an Upper Realm Node stayed open was for twenty-one days, but that was billions of years ago. No one believed it, but even if it didnʼt happen, it surely wasnʼt the average as most Upper Realm nodes only stay open for two days or three days max. Some might only last a single day, but by that time, the rulers of the realm wouldnʼt even find it, much less occupy, announce, and tax it.

Usually, Mystic Diviners employed or belonging to the realm would foretell the general location of these Upper Realm Nodes before they could appear, so it would already be occupied by the time it appears or soon after it appears, but still, itʼs just a day, there was not enough time for people to traverse other than nearby regions, so they usually wouldnʼt bother to get the hopes of people up.

There were also times when they wouldnʼt be able to determine where the node would arrive due to karmic interference or spatial anomalies. In those times, the local people might be able to enjoy the spatial vortex themselves, but this wasnʼt one of those times.

This Upper Realm Node was open for three days, but they still failed to make it.

They felt miserable.

They could only watch as the Upper Realm Node closed, their expressions as though the entire world was coming down. The guards tried to clear the area but were unwilling to leave, still looking at it from afar.

Just as it was about to close completely, a white-robed man abruptly jumped from the distorting spatial vortex and landed on the ground.

”…!”

Numerous people were shocked, their jaws dropping. The guards also narrowed their eyes in shock. They had never seen someone make a last-second appearance as the instability wouldʼve caused them to be thrown elsewhere, sometimes even appearing out of a new spatial vortex.

”Waah… barely made it in time, or I would have to self-destruct the avatar and look for another Lower Realm Node again…”

The white-robed man was wearing a conical hat and a flowing veil around it that covered his features. From his gentle and soothing voice, he appeared to be a young man.

However, the guards were pretty much alert.

There were not a lot of scenarios when met with people coming from the Upper Realms. There were four main scenarios that they had seen time and time again.

One, they were peaceful and came to do trade, even after resources that could only be found in Lower Realms.

Two, they were young geniuses who came to explore or bully.

Three, people who are screwed by offending someone they shouldnʼt have and fled to the Lower Realms.

The fourth and last, they were absolutely vile and looking to gain karmic sin for their cultivation purpose.

They looked at the white-robed man and initially ascertained that he may not be absolutely vile based on his attire, but they could never know. Underneath the white robe could be a ruthless villain, but first and foremost, they were unable to determine his cultivation.

Even as he descended from the spatial vortex, there was not a single hint of undulation. Even their senses that rudely probed him picked up nothing. The conical hat he wore also disrupted their senses, not allowing them to see his true face.

They didnʼt continue with their rudeness as the head guard stepped forward and cupped his hands.

”Esteemed cultivator, for what purpose have you descended the Lower Realm Node?”

”Me?”

The white-robed man turned to look at them, ”Iʼm just a passerby who wants to explore and do some good. By the way, what realm is this?”

”This…” The golden-armored head guard wanted to ask more questions, but he found himself compelled to answer.

”This is the Starmetal Sovereign Lower Realm.”

”Oh, the one located in the southern Lower Strata. Not a good or bad place to get to my destination. In any case, may fortune be with you, and donʼt forget to have healthy fun instead of being stiff all your life.”

”Esteemed cultivator, who are-”

The golden armored man probed once more, but by the time he realized it, the white-robed man was no longer there.

”!!!”

It alarmed the guards as they began searching for him for over half an hour, but by that time, the white-robed man was already halfway across the realm, flying through the clouds.

”The Eternal Twilight Lower Realm, which is said to be where he has hidden himself according to Empyrean Miller Skyrend, is three realms away. With my current speed, I should be able to get there within three to five days.”
