Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 411: Chapter 410: Occupational Hazard

[The Lord Arceus is almighty.]

[Have you seen that so-called Lord? Perhaps it’s time to change your faith.]

Such comments were the ones she heard most often on the ship, as the pirates primarily adhered to a pragmatic approach. The rapid spread of the Arceus Sect within the Hundred Beasts Pirate Crew wasn’t due to anything else but the tangible benefits they witnessed.

Talking to a group of pirates about life after death or the future is unrealistic; only immediate benefits affect them the most.

One vivid example was Mandfeish. Originally, he was just an ordinary member among many pirates, but the first lottery draw set him apart from the ordinary pirate group.

Whether they were Divine Favorers or Empowered, the abilities granted not only improved their skills but also enhanced their physical fitness.

Splash made Mandfeish’s waist and leg muscles more developed, Leaf Blade made Emmalyn’s arms more powerful, Rollout made Pierman’s skin tough—these effects accompanied the skills.

Subtle bodily changes are the reason they can use Pokemon skills with the human body.

Such changes enabled them to withstand tougher training, allowing them to become stronger and start their path to promotion within the Hundred Beasts Pirate Crew.

For a typical pirate, gaining power is the fastest way to achieve a leap in social class.

Otherwise, even Kaidou couldn’t save someone like Otohime with the fragile glass bone condition, which simply couldn’t withstand intense training, forming a dead cycle.

The relatively fair mechanism led to increased interest in the Arceus Sect, and the derived benefits policies, as well as emergency medicine, were things they needed.

They may not fear death, but how many would willingly choose to die if they could live?

”An ethereal god.... a true savior....”

Once, she was a devout believer, but she had to acknowledge a problem: the god she worshipped never appeared, and none of the children from the monastery survived.

At this point, she also realized that this ship was a pirate ship, and a group of ”evildoers” turned out to be saviors; furthermore, the smiles on their faces were genuine. The last time she saw such smiles was before the outbreak of the Platinum Lead Disease.

The events before her were fiercely clashing with her established values.

”Mom, do you have time now?”

”Rami? What are you doing here?”

”Those uncles have something to say to you, and they asked me to ask you.”

She lied to Rami, which went against her teachings, but she had already told Rami a lie. Since Rami had forgotten things due to Platinum Lead poisoning, the nun didn’t want her to recall those things.

Thus, she hid her surname, only retaining the name Rami, and told her that she was her mother.

”Don’t run around, stay away from the ship’s edge, and don’t cause trouble for others.”

”Got it.”

After cautioning Rami, the nun went outside the cabin, where she was handed a newspaper.

”This is...”

”It’s a newspaper, about Freyvans, Lord Arceus has instructed that this be given to you once your emotions stabilize.”

[Freyvans struck by mysterious disease, King deeply saddened.]

[Neighboring countries’ medical rescue teams have entered Freyvans for humanitarian aid.]

”Lies... all lies....”

The king shedding tears, the patients being treated—these photos looked very convincing, but as an eyewitness to the incident, the nun could not believe such things.

There was never any medical team, only the troops from neighboring countries.

As for the grieving king, those people fled faster than anyone else, taking away large quantities of medication that eased the symptoms of Platinum Lead Disease. The latter shortage in hospitals directly related to the royal family of Freyvans.

Though the medications could not cure the disease, they made life considerably easier and extended one’s lifespan.

”This newspaper is from a month ago and reflects the world’s understanding of Freyvans.”

Arceus came up behind the nun, turning the pages of the newspaper with his power.

”We have a plan, to be honest with you, if successful, this plan will bring us enormous profits. As a survivor of Freyvans, are you willing to work with us on this plan?”

”The plan refers to...”

”Revealing the truth of Freyvans, although the profits have nothing to do with you, doing so would mean the deceased of Freyvans would die with understanding. At least they would know Freyvans was not destroyed by disease, but by human action.”

For those with access to certain channels, the incident in Freyvans was no secret, but most people were completely unaware, unless someone pierced that thin layer of deception.

”Your safety will not be a problem; they won’t have a chance to assassinate you, but this might conflict with your teachings?”

”Yes, liars go to hell, but it doesn’t matter.... I ought to have gone to hell long ago, since I’ve been dragged out of hell now, it’s a new test. The tragedy of Freyvans has occurred, but it shouldn’t be forgotten by the world. What do I need to do?”

”There will be an interview targeting you, just speak truthfully, but refrain from saying what shouldn’t be said.”

.....

Arceus thought the matter would conclude here, the upcoming itinerary was still quite tight, with East Sea issues to address after, and the date for Setsuna and Zeraora’s agreement was approaching, and development on Tesoro’s side had also been scheduled.

However, a few days later, people on the ship noticed an unusual behavior from the nun.

”You say... she’s been inquiring about me?”

”No, foster father, she’s not been asking about you but about the Arceus Sect.”

The Arceus Sect wasn’t something he established himself; it was originally a small group created by Shaina, which gradually expanded over time.

Though named the Arceus Sect, in essence, the organization had nothing in common with a religion.

”What is she doing?”

”It seems like she’s... um... yes, it appears she’s trying to create some doctrine.”

During this time, the nun underwent the collapse and reconstruction of faith, having grown up in the monastery, those beliefs were deeply rooted in her, and the symbol of the Arceus Thousand Cosmos Bracelet resembled a variant of the cross.

Under such circumstances, she developed the feeling that Arceus was the true spokesperson of divinity, and then the nun’s occupational syndrome acted up.

Unfortunately, Olga was traveling on this journey instead of Shaina, otherwise, with the nun’s current thinking, Shaina would probably be very interested in her.

”Olga, make a note, when we return, let Shaina take charge of that nun, isn’t she called Misu?”

”I understand, I’ll inform Shaina, big sister.”
