Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 409: Chapter 408: The Muk Therapy and New Plans for Hundred Beasts Fruit

Certain Plates actually have a range of extended attributes. For example, the Iron Plate doesn’t merely pertain to iron but encompasses a multitude of metal minerals.

The Flame Plate isn’t just about fire, either.

High temperatures, lava, and other fire-attribute attacks are included. However, in reality, there are some composite attribute attacks, such as lava, which simultaneously possess the traits of fire and rock.

To achieve complete immunity to such attacks, you might need two Plates.

The refined platinum lead ore falls under the domain of the Iron Plate, so the platinum lead ingots seemingly floated away with them, rendering the surrounding barbed wire useless.

Currently, only three people have survived in Freyvans: a nun and a girl found and taken away by Yamato, and Law, who escaped by hiding among charred corpses across the border.

Yamato and her companions arrived here at the very last moment, by which time Law had already embraced despair. With no one else to trust, his sole conviction was to survive for revenge.

...

At this moment, the Origin had begun a new voyage, but its destination wasn’t Ghost Island; it was the East Sea. Having witnessed brutal human reality, Arceus intended to shift their mood by this journey.

Because not the entire world was so cruel. Beauty still existed, and his aim was not for Yamato to be naive, nor for her to feel disillusioned with the world. Therefore, a quest for treasure became an extra diversion for her before the return trip.

But Yamato isn’t the type to become despondent over such matters. She never gets trapped in past memories and is currently concerned about the doctor’s rescue efforts.

”How is it going?”

”Miss Yamato, we’ve extracted the bullet from that woman’s body. Their vital signs are currently stable, but... we have no way to address the heavy metal poisoning.”

The poisoning from platinum lead isn’t the regular kind of poisoning. The reason for their poisoning isn’t that the toxin disrupted their cellular structure; instead, the substance is present in various parts of their bodies. Even a fetus can get infected due to the mother’s condition.

Conventional methods can’t help because antidotes are ineffective in this situation. Their existing methods can temporarily stabilize the duo’s lives, but nothing more.

Nowadays, each flagship of the Hundred Beasts Pirate Fleet is equipped with complete medical facilities; when not sailing, those ship doctors are sent to the Hundred Beasts Pokemon Center for further training.

The accompanying doctor onboard the Origin is a top-notch surgeon, capable of performing most surgeries. However, even so, he is helpless against the dispersed platinum lead in their bodies.

”What happens if it can’t be treated?”

”They’ll die... The woman can probably hold on for a year, and the girl at most a month.”

That’s about the standard procedures. In the Pirate World, platinum lead disease is incurable unless you find the Op-Op Fruit or a similar fruit to remove it.

However, this ship has capabilities far beyond the world’s understanding. But it’s not Diancie, although Diancie has the means to extract platinum lead, the condition is that the lead turns gaseous, meaning they’d have to reduce these two to ashes first.

So Arceus prepared a very special therapy for them - the Muk Treatment. He had already anticipated that Yamato would request this, so he devised this approach.

Muk has a unique trait of being immune to all toxins. No matter what toxic substance they consume, it becomes part of their body, be it neurotoxin or protein toxin, be it toxic metals or otherwise, it’s all the same to them.

Moreover, these Muks are the Alolan type, so they don’t easily produce a smell. However, the treatment process isn’t visually appealing; it’s equivalent to allowing the two to be enveloped by Muk for some time, letting them slowly absorb the platinum lead from the human body.

If Yamato were poisoned, Arceus would probably intervene personally. Even if a member of the Hundred Beasts gets into trouble during a battle, he can step in, but these are two unrelated people, so he doesn’t need to do that.

The fact that there are even two Muk medics involved is already because of Yamato’s influence.

During this process, they essentially can only live on nutrient solutions. To prevent physical discomfort, they also used those strong sedatives.

Anyone waking up to find themselves in a moving mass of sludge would likely find it hard to cope with.

”Foster father, why can’t I watch too?”

”The scene isn’t too pleasant, not suitable for you just yet. Go study the Treasure Map with Robin.”

With this reason, he convinced Yamato. Yamato still listens to things he explicitly forbids. Otherwise, when Kaidou trains, she might lose a safeguard.

Saving those two people is partly for Yamato’s psychological well-being and partly for his plan to utilize Hundred Beasts Fruit for certain purposes.

The events in Freyvans were covered up as an infectious disease, and Arceus’s goal was to break this facade. Below Hundred Beasts Fruit, there’s a medical industry; platinum lead happens to be an opportunity, a chance to exploit the wealthy.

The richer people become, the more they value their lives. Enjoying the world’s beauties, they can’t bear to lose it all. So Arceus wants to instill in them a sense of crisis, that they too are infected with platinum lead disease.

Because platinum lead exists as a luxury item, its price is high; ordinary people simply can’t afford it. Many nobles in past kingdoms used platinum lead as a status symbol.

As long as this matter is clarified, revealing that Freyvans isn’t an epidemic but metal poisoning, they are sure to develop a sense of anxiety.

Though using platinum lead is harmless, they are unaware. The truth about platinum lead is known only to the royalty of Freyvans and the World Government. To sell it better, other kingdom’s royalty also remains unaware of the details.

After all, when an item is toxic, anyone using it has to think twice. Blowfish is toxic, so even though it’s said to be delicious, many dare not try it, for who knows if one will be the unfortunate one.

Facing the terrifying and devastating impact of platinum lead disease, even if the World Government were willing to reveal the truth, they might not believe it. And then came a famous doctor who, after years of research, discovered a cure for platinum lead disease and developed a special medication.

Moreover, a patient with platinum lead disease successfully cured themselves under his treatment. Royal families and nobility, facing such a scenario, naturally would be willing to spend a hefty sum.

The medical company under Hundred Beasts Fruit will also gain immense fame from this, serving as the most effective advertisement for future pharmaceutical sales.

Those Berry medicines are genuinely reliable; once used, people will realize how effective they are, albeit a bit pricey. Then, Hundred Beasts Fruit can once again launch a cornerstone industry.
