Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Thunder, Berry, Splash

Although the small radar in his hand reacted to the Plate brought by BIG MOM, he wanted to confirm again, just in case the device Queen made was faulty.

The simplest methods are often the most direct. Rather than using complex technology, checking the hardness is a good choice.

Arceus and the others went treasure hunting, which is an important pirate activity. Kaidou ordered his subordinates to plan a new feast, as in non-combat environments, the biggest extra expense for a pirate crew is the feast consumption.

However, every pirate crew maintains this tradition, with varying frequency depending on their finances and customs. Holding a feast for several days in a row is quite normal, and most pirates choose to drink to their heart’s content, except for those on duty.

”Brother Kaidou! Brother Arceus’s ship is back! And they brought a bunch of strange giant birds.”

”Giant birds?”

On the main island, Kaidou received news of Arceus’s return. But what they brought back was unexpected. When Kaidou arrived at the port and saw the ”giant birds” flying overhead, his eyes lit up with interest.

”What are those?”

”They are Thousand-Year Dragons. The treasure hunt’s endpoint was their habitat. We reached some cooperation, and from now on, these Thousand-Year Dragons will live here. We will protect them, and the adult dragons will serve as partners for the Air Cavalry.”

”Air Cavalry, an aerial force... Uhuhu, indeed, it’s a wise decision to work with you!” After a brief moment of thought, Kaidou began to laugh wildly. With these Thousand-Year Dragons, the Hundred Beasts can form an air force unit.

Each adult Thousand-Year Dragon can carry four or five people without any problem. Although there are only a dozen adult Thousand-Year Dragons, they are enough as a surprise attack force. Besides the Golden Lion, no other pirate crew has the capability for large-scale aerial combat.

”By the way, I also found something good.”

”I have already sensed it, the aura of the Plate.”

”Tch, boring, I forgot you can sense the aura of your own Plates.”

Originally, Kaidou thought it would be a surprise, but the problem was that once the Plate was brought back, Arceus, at a certain distance, could sense it, so it was impossible to keep it from Arceus.

The outcome didn’t change, but it felt like something was missing. However, it wasn’t a big problem, as the Hundred Beasts Pirate Crew still entered their familiar feast phase.

This time, there was a group of Thousand-Year Dragons at the feast too. The pirates of the Hundred Beasts were very enthusiastic about these Thousand-Year Dragons, as Kaidou had already talked about forming an Air Cavalry unit. After all, flying is one of humanity’s dreams.

Even if they can’t fly themselves, being able to ride something that can is excellent. But with only so many adult Thousand-Year Dragons, only a select few elite can form the Air Cavalry.

The compatibility with the Thousand-Year Dragons would inevitably influence the selection of the Air Cavalry, and the smart ones were already working to build good relationships with these Thousand-Year Dragons.

However, to avoid trouble, from now on, these Thousand-Year Dragons were codenamed as Proto-Birds, and all who were in the know were told to keep their mouths shut and not speak of it outside.

Those chosen by Shaina to board the ship were all members of the Arceus Sect. Their loyalty had been tested, so this request wasn’t much.

Meanwhile, Arceus also reclaimed his fifth Plate, the Zap Plate, and at that moment, it seemed like the sound of thunder echoed over the island, as the power of lightning returned to Arceus’s control.

Lightning is often seen as a calamity from the heavens, more like a natural disaster than fire.

Then there was the much-anticipated lottery segment. When his dart hit a blue ”Jump” character, the rowdy pirates below finally quieted down.

”What do you think this guy’s ability will be?”

”No idea, Babanuki’s Monster Strength Technique was so handy. Can this character make him jump really high?”

”Who knows, Babanuki took three days, how long do you think this guy will take?”

”Two days maybe.”

”No way, at least four days, he’s far behind that kid Babanuki.”

One pirate even started a betting pool on how long it would take for this lucky guy to learn the skill.

In the end, he also took three days, tying Babanuki’s record.

Upon emerging, like Babanuki, he began to eat and drink greedily. However, when the other pirates asked him to demonstrate his abilities, he didn’t seem as excited as Babanuki.

Under the crowd’s urging, he walked to the sea, took a step, and dashed towards the sea’s surface, then... he jumped up from the sea. Yes, he jumped up.

The water surface, to him, was just like land, a place he could use for leverage.

The blue ”Jump” character’s skill was - Splash.

Splash is an odd skill with no form other than jumping, but when humans learn Splash, they gain some strange enhancements.

Their leg jump power increases, and their jump height and distance far exceed their previous selves, with the added ability to jump on water.

Acquiring a skill is all about luck, and there’s no underhandedness involved. So, getting this skill left him a bit bewildered.

Does Splash have potential? The answer is yes. In a water-dominated world, the ability to jump on water greatly enhances flexibility, allowing him to move freely on the water surface.

But the enhancements are not as direct as those from the Monster Strength Technique. Still, it serves its purpose.

A group of people brainstormed about the possible uses of his Splash ability, while Queen recruited a bunch of local residents to make dried bananas.

The bananas from Tropius have a longer shelf life, even if grown with its traits. Ripe bananas last up to half a month before rotting. If picked while green and stored properly, they can be preserved for about two months.

But that’s the limit. For bananas, this time is impressive, but not quite enough compared to consumption speed. So now Queen is making freeze-dried bananas from the ripe ones to preserve them.

At the same time, he is cultivating new seedlings. The fifth Plate was ultimately traded for his cultivated bananas, and given his large inventory sacrifice, Arceus gave him some compensation.

He also modified other fruit seeds, providing a batch of Berry seeds to Queen: Sitrus Berry, Pecha Berry, and Mago Berry. However, these Berry seeds are stripped versions, retaining only the taste without their original effects.

The full version of Berries is more than just fruit, as they can be cultivated as strategic resources.
