Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Feel the Greetings of the New World

Fishman Island is located 10,000 meters underwater, serving as a necessary passage for reaching the New World, or more precisely, it is a necessary passage for most pirates reaching the New World.

The Red Earth Continent divides the Grand Line in two. As the place where the World Government’s influence is deeply rooted, especially with the Heavenly Celestial Dragon’s residence—Mary Geoise on it, the security here is extremely strong.

Illegal pirates aren’t qualified to pass through here, so they have no choice but to take the risk and choose Fishman Island deep in the sea.

This world does have submarines, but most pirates can’t obtain such high technology, so the only way to enter Fishman Island is coating.

However, humans are ultimately not creatures of the sea, and the deep sea is fraught with innumerable crises, whether from Sea King Types or undersea volcanoes, all posing a deadly threat to ships.

If the coating is damaged, it means the ship and crew are doomed; the immense water pressure will instantly kill most people.

Moreover, coating is a skilled job. In the first half of the journey, coating craftsmen can only be found at the Shampodi Islands, and they are a mix of the truly skilled craftsmen, whose coatings are safe and reliable.

There are also unreliable frauds whose coatings are a countdown to death, with the risk of breaking at any time.

It’s fine if it breaks right after submerging, but if the coating breaks after reaching the deep sea, the consequences are unbearable.

Not to mention those who are devil fruit users; even Kaidou would be helpless if he sank to the bottom of the sea, so he never intended to go through Fishman Island.

Fishman Island is a necessary route for ordinary pirates, but he is no ordinary pirate. He possesses large-scale flying capabilities, like the Flying Sky Pirates led by the Golden Lion, who would always fly his ship through the sky himself.

Kaidou is the same; although they cannot pass through the Red Earth Continent like the Navy and ordinary people, they can fly over it, though they must slightly detour to avoid flying directly over Mary Geoise.

Above the clouds, the Hundred Beasts Pirates took a shortcut over the Red Earth Continent, with a group of pirates on board feeling downcast due to not seeing a mermaid.

....

After nearly a year, the group that left the research facility finally reached the New World. Compared to the first half of Paradise, the seas here are more dangerous and the climate more variable. The first thing they encountered was a thunderstorm in the sky.

In the true sense, a thunderstorm occurs here; it’s a special climate with only lightning and no rain.

Darkness covered the sky, and the sound of colliding charges continually echoed.

Dense lightning struck the ship’s deck like rainwater, terrifying these newly arrived pirates in the New World.

And they also learned the true power of Arceus, who holds a high status on the ship. A beam of light shot from Arceus to the sky, dispersing the thunderclouds in an instant, turning the scene back into a sunny day.

The pirate world respects the strong. Previously, they followed Arceus due to Shaina’s might; now they were awed by Arceus’s weather-manipulating power, honoring the Lord Sacred Beast countless times more reverently.

Choosing the right moment to establish authority is crucial. Unlike Kaidou, who bears a hefty bounty, or wanting to flaunt his power, now was the perfect time. This counts as the first time he revealed his power in front of others.

Moreover, this dense thunderstorm disturbed his rest.

As for ability modification, these people’s abilities haven’t yet qualified for his modification. Not even Kaidou has raised this issue; abilities are reserved for those with strength.

These people must at least be honed in the New World’s environment for a while or possess some valued special abilities.

The ”Sunny Day” he used is entirely different from the level of what King used.

Even the most troublesome weather in the New World is trivial to him, but as the Hundred Beasts’ ship left the area, the dense thunderstorm once again filled the sea area.

This brought a sigh of relief to the people on a nearby island, as ”selling umbrellas” is an important economic resource for this island. Without this source, meeting their tribute requirements becomes much harder.

And the Hundred Beasts’ ship soon docked at this island; they needed to replenish supplies, such as the unique record pointers of the New World.

Due to the special magnetic fields of the Grand Line, original compasses, like the compass, lose their original functions. To navigate the Grand Line, record pointers are indispensable tools.

They capture the magnetic signal of the next island and record this signal, ensuring the record pointer’s direction remains unchanged until reaching there.

Every time they reach an island, they must spend hours to months to fully charge the record pointer before setting out to the next island.

This is one of the reasons delaying Arceus’s search for the Plates; sailing on The Sea is already arduous, and encountering islands with long signal storage times wastes even more time.

After all, islands with Eternal Poses are rare.

The same is true in the first half of Paradise, but navigating the New World becomes more dangerous.

The New World’s magnetic fields are more chaotic than Paradise’s, as demonstrated by the previous thunderstorm weather. Besides, bizarre clouds like descending icebergs or even daggers are not unheard of.

Even without enemies, navigating the New World is an exceedingly perilous challenge.

The record pointer guaranteed safe passage in the first half, but after entering the New World, the originally reliable record pointer became unreliable.

This doesn’t stump those making a living at sea; an upgraded version of the record pointer was born.

It looks no different from an ordinary record pointer, except it has two additional dials, with its pointers increasing from one to three, allowing for more options to select the safest route.

The safer the route, the lower the fluctuation frequency of the record pointer. Normally, pirates would choose a relatively safe route from among them.

New World islands all have their own masters behind the scenes. If they don’t wish to provoke, ordinary pirates generally abide by local rules, even Great Pirates do; otherwise, it means declaring war.

At this juncture, the Hundred Beasts did not intend to initiate a war; they were still in a developing phase, so the money exchanged from John’s treasure played a role here, with a large amount of supplies bought onto the ship, including a dozen record pointers.

This item is a necessary precautionary material; to prevent damages due to wind, waves, and other factors, several backups are stored onboard.

Unchanging like clockwork are the News Birds flying in the sky, and their newspapers collectively deliver new messages.

”Boss Kaidou, Boss Sacred Beast, there’s new news in the newspaper!”
