Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Monster Strength Technique and Modified People

Queen somehow got a microphone from somewhere, and although he created a decent atmosphere, Arceus couldn’t shake off the strange feeling of being at a roadside lottery.

Because on the temporary stage, there was indeed a lottery wheel.

This reward is a beginning, but not an end. There will be more such events in the future. The rewards for significant contributors go without saying, but there are also many small-scale battles.

The reward recipient might even be some unknown pirate under their banner. Strength always varies, and it’s normal that the abilities obtained can’t match those of a leader.

People don’t envy those vastly different from them but do envy those somewhat similar to them. There are always those who feel worse seeing others earn money than losing it themselves.

Resentment arises not from scarcity but from inequality, so to handle this potential conflict, they simply created a lottery wheel. Whatever ability you get is down to luck, so nobody can complain.

Babanuki, later the quarry warden for the Hundred Beast Corps, is still just a teenager now.

”Come on, it’s all up to you now to see what you can get.” Queen handed him a small dart, and several sections marked the giant wheel, although Babanuki recognized the words, he didn’t know what each represented.

”Brother Queen, what are these... exactly?”

”They are all quite useful abilities. As long as you’re lucky enough, you might even land an ability like the leaders have.”

The abilities of leaders have a special meaning in the current Hundred Beast Corps, as all the leaders here are ”Zoan types.”

And the words Zoan are quite clear on the wheel, but the share is relatively small.

As for the issue of missing the mark... They are pirates, if they can’t throw a dart without missing, they should quit early, this line of work is not for them.

The wheel’s diameter is roughly the same as King’s height now; even a kid wouldn’t miss.

If in another world, Queen might make a good TV host, especially for comedy shows, as a host also has to be charismatic.

The pirates in the audience were completely stirred up by him. Facing the spinning wheel, Babanuki threw the dart in his hand, and once he confirmed he hit a mark, Queen stopped the wheel.

But sometimes fate works in mysterious ways; the dart landed right on the borderline, between the words ”Iaido” and ”Monster Strength.”

”Choose one, Babanuki, there’s no second chance.”

”Monster Strength, I guess.” He wasn’t good with swords; Iaido gave the impression of the Iaido Slash, which he thought wouldn’t be very useful, so he chose the word that seemed simpler.

”By the way, have you eaten enough?”

”Y-yeah, I ate quite a bit at the banquet earlier...”

Babanuki didn’t understand why Queen suddenly asked if he was full, but the next moment, Arceus stepped in front of him, and a strange power surged into his body, pulling Babanuki into a learning space as well.

This so-called reward seemed thunderous yet trivial at the moment, and the ordinary pirates didn’t know why Babanuki suddenly fell asleep.

”Don’t worry, folks, once Babanuki wakes up, you’ll know what’s happened. Next is something even more important.”

Queen had a slab pushed onto the stage, which was a replica of the Arceus Plate. An unactivated Plate appeared quite ordinary to outsiders. Besides being indestructible, they couldn’t discern any special features.

”Remember the dimensions and appearance, as long as you find it, even if it’s just news, once confirmed real, you can make a reasonable request.

But remember, information can be wrong but must never be false. If you dare spread false news intentionally, the consequences will be severe.

Aside from that, all of the above materials can be exchanged for rewards!”

Queen then listed those already extinct materials again, mixing in some irrelevant items, and apart from Asie, no one could figure out what these were for.

Thus began a long waiting period. Although the victory banquet was over, it was nothing to pirates to throw another party.

Before Babanuki woke up, the members of the Hundred Beasts temporarily stationed there, and Queen seized the chance to hold a personal concert.

Whether it sounded good or not is subjective, but the members seemed to enjoy it.

Meanwhile, Arceus continued discussing serious matters with Kaidou.

”That item has been made, though it’s not as effective as expected. This is for you, remember to observe its reactions when out and about. It has a locator, idiot-proof operation.”

He explained while tossing the Plate Radar to Kaidou using an Element hand.

”Don’t lose it, we can’t make another one anytime soon.”

The leather wristband, embedded with a small gauge, was made from the skin of a special Sea Beast, highly resistant and flexible, and even transformation wouldn’t burst it.

Its special structure ensures the pure gold inside doesn’t affect the wearer, preventing stunted growth.

”Got it, but how long will Babanuki be like this?”

”No idea, it depends on individual talent.”

Then Arceus handed another radar to Shaina.

”Shaina, this one’s for you. Its sensing range is smaller than Kaidou’s, but it doesn’t matter; your strength isn’t on par with his. Once you find anything, your priority is to notify me, don’t act rashly.”

”Understood, Sacred Beast Lord.”

Two days passed, and Babanuki still hadn’t woken up, but someone came looking for Queen.

After a battle, besides the fallen, there were also the injured. Although often unserious, Queen indeed served as the team’s ship doctor, handling anything from surgery to viruses.

The fight with the Wald Pirates resulted in many injured. One case was quite special; he’d charged ahead with Babanuki, but Babanuki got lucky, escaping without severe injuries, while he wasn’t so fortunate.

His right arm was severed, his face extensively burned; though his life was saved, he was considered crippled.

Initially assigned a logistic role, he requested body modification by Queen to change his fate.

In the pirate world, becoming a logistical member typically meant a poor life, something they found unacceptable.

After all, he had ”battle merits” and sought a modified opportunity in exchange for his battlefield contributions.

Queen, naturally, agreed, happy to finally have a subject for his modification technique.

Many people hold reservations about body modifications.
