Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 59: Chapter 59: These Are the True Monsters of the New World

The door shattered, and a biting cold wind rushed inside.

This was a Winter Island, but even Winter Islands had four seasons. However, the summer on a Winter Island was almost colder than the winter on a Summer Island. The cold wind seeping into their collars made them involuntarily shiver.

To be accurate, this chill wasn’t simply caused by the weather; it also had a lot to do with Kaidou.

Without transforming into his dragon-human or giant dragon form, Kaidou had already reached here by himself using his human form.

People need some motivation to act, and Kaidou was this type of person. He was about to have withdrawal symptoms; since he previously messed up because of drinking at the Navy Base, Arceus set a small goal for him.

He had to quit alcohol before securing their basic foothold.

At that time, he hadn’t sobered up yet and was discussing what kind of abilities his future children should have, and he agreed to it in a muddled way. As a result, during this period, he was almost craving alcohol.

He didn’t always keep his word to outsiders, but when it came to his own people, he took it seriously. Although he and Arceus weren’t in a superior-subordinate relationship, they were closely allied.

Dealing with these guys first, then having a feast and a good drink, was Kaidou’s thought at the moment.

Even before the ship docked, he had already charged here alone.

These men were fighting fiercely here, but ultimately, it was because no notable pirates of the New World had set sights on this place.

Whether young newcomers to the New World, unaware of the heights of the sky and depths of the earth, or the failures struggling to survive in the crevices of the New World, they were all the same type to Kaidou—weaklings.

”Hey, this island is now my territory. Anyone got a problem with that?”

This was the rendezvous point for the alliance of these two pirate groups, so there was, of course, plenty of alcohol.

”I’ve already come this far, so I guess it’s pretty much done...” His agreement with Arceus was only until the occupation of this island. Now that he had reached this point, he considered having occupied it, so having a bit of drink didn’t matter.

Moreover, he didn’t sense any threat from those present, so right in front of these pirates, Kaidou grabbed a wine jar placed nearby, clearly marked with the character for ”wine” on it.

He lifted the wine jar high and began drinking openly.

The scene was momentarily bizarre, as these pirates were dumbfounded. The silence was eventually broken by the sound of gunfire.

Watching Kaidou’s Adam’s apple moving as he swallowed the liquid, someone raised their flintlock gun.

Whether due to poor marksmanship or excessive nervousness, the shot missed. However, after the gunfire, Kaidou was left with only a shattered wine jar, with most of the wine spilling directly onto the ground.

The gunfire also served as a signal. In the next moment, the room erupted with gunfire; some even lifted shoulder-mounted cannons. Kaidou’s position was obscured by the gunpowder smoke from the explosion, and only after emptying their ammunition did the shooting finally cease.

”Is he... dead?”

”He should be dead, right? No one could take that many cannonballs and be such a madman...”

”But why did we even shoot? He came in alone.”

”I don’t know. When you all started shooting, I just joined in...”

Snippets of scattered conversations broke out. Many didn’t understand Kaidou’s seemingly strange behavior.

But as the smoke cleared, appearing in their sight was an unharmed Kaidou.

”So it seems you disagree with this island belonging to me. And you spilled my wine; do you know how many days it’s been since I’ve had a drink?”

The Wolf Fang Club swung out, and the invisible shockwave struck the first one who fired, sending his tattered body flying like a rag doll, finally landing on the wood stove in the room.

The fire ignited the clothing, and the flesh began to char under the high temperature, emitting a burnt stench that was quickly carried away by the cold wind.

The pirates present had no time to deal with a dead man, as they were now facing an enraged Kaidou.

Whether it was the previously high and mighty captain or the sentries at the door, they were now the same—under Kaidou’s assault, no one could hold their ground.

This was the chasm of a power gap; Kaidou achieved a peculiar form of ”equality” among these people with absolute might.

”How could this be... what kind of monster is this!”

The question came from those newly arrived in the New World. Without a clear understanding of the New World, the enemies they first encountered were within comprehensible limits.

Though quite strong, they could still be killed.

But monsters like Kaidou—blades and swords would break, cannonballs only left some black soot, even those previously cocky ability users on the ship met the same end under Kaidou’s assault.

Fear spread among the crowd, and those nearby began contemplating escape, while those closer to the periphery tried to flee from this land of death.

Kaidou didn’t stop these people; this time he wasn’t a lone combatant anymore.

Outside the door was also a mass of pirates lying on the ground, a result of the destruction caused by Kaidou as he charged through.

Running on the loose snow, occasionally glancing back nervously, he aimed to reach the ship anchored at the port and leave here, leave this godforsaken place called the New World.

Kaidou’s physical prowess had shattered his preconceived notions.

Up ahead was a bend, and as long as he turned here, he would see the seaside port.

Then he bumped into a pillar, looking up to realize it wasn’t a pillar at all—an unusual Brachiosaurus was just standing there.

The spot where the ship was originally moored was now a mess.

Earlier, Kaidou had charged so fast that he had completely left the rest of the Hundred Beasts behind. Meanwhile, the rest of the Hundred Beasts began dealing with the surrounding pirates.

These pirates were weaker than those inside the venue, but they were more numerous.

The main role of the cannon-fodder minions recruited by Kaidou was to bolster the numbers or man the ship’s cannons. In terms of basic combat strength, they weren’t much stronger than these pirates.

But at the level of cadre high-end combat strength, these pirates were utterly crushed.

Arceus didn’t need to act; flames, boulders, and Leaf Blade of the ”Mythical Zoan” fruit abilities caused devastating devastation. Moreover, the opponents’ cannons mostly misfired under Elizabeth’s precise sniping, leaving the gunners no chance to fire a shot.

Even hiding in the ship’s hold wouldn’t save them, as Elizabeth’s ”Sniping” water bullets could pierce through the ship’s hull planks.

Although for Arceus, one Judgment would suffice to destroy all pirate ships, it wasn’t necessary. These people were subordinates, not high-ranking guests. If they couldn’t handle anything, what use were they?

Moreover, they didn’t resist such things. For these pirates, slaughtering was just as normal.

If there was anyone on the whole ship with the most complicated feelings, it had to be Asie.
