The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

The homeroom teacher had just finished giving instructions.

The music teachers then came together as a group.

This year, the responsibility of participating in the City TV’s Spring Festival Gala fell on the second-year students.

So, several music teachers gathered to jointly plan and organize this event.

Leading the teachers was Teng Xue.

With the longest teaching experience, whether in appearance or demeanor, she was the most outstanding among the teachers.

Whenever the school organized an event, she was always in charge.

Therefore, she was very experienced in this area, and the other teachers had great confidence in her abilities.

Teng Xue stood on the podium, scanning the students below.

She taught the second-year students, and she knew the classmates in the class well.

Earlier, when selecting students in other classes, she directly chose those with outstanding appearances and physiques from her impression.

Now, after checking around, there were still six spots left.

Just right, she had already gone through the class list in her mind beforehand and had a rough idea of whom to select.

Now it was just a formality, also to show respect to the other music teachers.

”I’m sorry to interrupt your break time. We’re here today to select a few outstanding students to participate in the City TV’s Spring Festival Gala. The school is preparing a choral program for today’s selection, and there are six spots left.”

”Alright, let’s start selecting students. Could everyone please stand up!”

The whole class stood in unison.

Teng Xue made a gesture and walked off the podium with the other music teachers to start selecting students.

When passing by the students she had pre-selected, Teng Xue tapped them on the shoulder: ”In a bit, stand and don’t sit down.”

Then she gradually picked two more.

After finishing her selection of the two groups, and seeing the other teachers had also completed their selections, she allowed the selected students to remain standing and the others to sit down.

When most people had sat down, Teng Xue carefully looked at the selected students and was momentarily stunned.

There were six spots, but seven students were selected.

After checking each one, Teng Xue was surprised to see the girl standing in the middle of the third row, and she was taken aback.

”Zhang... Xueyao?”

The girl in front had a tall and slender figure, with a neat high ponytail showing her smooth forehead, clear bright eyes, arched eyebrows, pale skin with a hint of pink, and thin lips like rose petals.

Her sitting in what was considered a prime spot with her height was enough to indicate her excellent character and grades.

Teng Xue’s impression of Zhang Xueyao was limited to the homeroom teacher’s special attention.

Since the first year, Zhang Xueyao had the privilege to study other subjects independently in classes like music and physical education.

Due to her outstanding performance, all her subject teachers valued her very much.

Teng Xue, out of curiosity, had paid attention to Zhang Xueyao before.

She found her to be just an ordinary-looking girl, with her head buried in books all day, never raising her head from class start to end, always busy with exercises, a typical good student type.

But today, seeing her, Teng Xue almost didn’t recognize her.

Wasn’t this the same girl whose face was full of acne before?

She turned out to be quite tall, with a good figure, a long and graceful neck, and such outstanding features?

She distinctly remembered that the last time she saw her, her face was full of acne, walking timidly without daring to make eye contact, with an obviously self-conscious demeanor.

How did she suddenly seem like a different person?

Looking at the confident and youthful beautiful girl before her, Teng Xue couldn’t help but be secretly amazed!

A music teacher beside her came up and said with difficulty, ”Teacher Teng, what should we do? We have one more than we need, should we eliminate one?”

The several candidates who were eavesdropping immediately perked up their ears.

What?

We need to take one out?

Hopefully, they wouldn’t be the one filtered out, as it would be too embarrassing!

Thinking this, each candidate immediately adjusted their posture and showed a confident smile, hoping to let the teachers see their shining points.

Teng Xue’s gaze swept over the faces of the candidates and finally rested on Zhang Xueyao.

Noticing she was being watched, Zhang Xueyao instinctively lowered her head, avoiding the gaze.

This was a conditioned reflex formed from years of habit.

Even though she had become prettier in appearance, she tried to make herself look confident and cheerful.

But the innate inferiority complex was something she couldn’t fully overcome in a short time.

As soon as she turned her gaze away, her heart tightened.

No!

Don’t hide!

While the two teachers were discussing, she heard everything clearly because she was nearby.

Now one more person was among the candidates than needed.

Someone had to be eliminated.

Seeing that she had the chance to be on TV, just like Fu Yu, and appear on the City TV show together.

This rare opportunity to share the same life path as him was something Zhang Xueyao really wanted to seize.

She also wanted to prove that she was excellent, both inside and out, no worse than anyone else!

Thinking of this, Zhang Xueyao took a deep breath, then summoned her courage, lifting her head again, and looked at the music teachers responsible for selection with confidence and anticipation.

This time when she met Teacher Teng’s eyes, she didn’t look away. Instead, she slightly lifted the corners of her mouth and gave a beautiful yet shy smile.

Even though her heart was pounding like a drum at that moment.

Even as her tense hands tightly pinched her trousers.

She tried hard to keep the smile on her face, facing the teachers’ gazes and assessments with calmness and poise.

Teng Xue looked at Zhang Xueyao’s bright face and suddenly felt moved.

She quickly reviewed all the previously selected students in her mind, roughly arranging their positions.

Then she took a closer look at Zhang Xueyao’s features and height, having a general idea in her mind.

Teng Xue turned to her music colleague and said, ”Let’s just go with these, no need to eliminate more.”

The music teacher was momentarily stunned: ”But, this way, we’ll have more during the formation.”

Teng Xue glanced at Zhang Xueyao again and casually said, ”Don’t we still need a lead singer? The number is just right.”

The music teacher realized: ”Oh right! How did I forget about this, alright, let’s go with these students then.”

Teng Xue nodded, taking another look at Zhang Xueyao.

The lead singer just needs good image and presence.

Anyway, when the actual program is recorded, it’s a chorus, if the effect isn’t good, it can still be pre-recorded.

Teng Xue made up her mind, and then announced to the students, ”Thank you all for your cooperation. The selected students, please gather in the multimedia lecture room after school this afternoon for today’s choral rehearsal!”
