The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

The busy season is no joke.

The restaurant’s business is visibly getting busier.

With more customers dining in, various unexpected incidents keep cropping up.

Since the store adjusted the management of staff positions, Gao Wenjing gained two team leaders under her, and although she was nominally the shift leader, she gradually began to take on the responsibilities of a front hall manager.

The higher the position, the greater the power, and consequently, the heavier the responsibility.

In the dining area of the front hall, there was a customer complaint about a server’s bad attitude.

Upon hearing the news, Gao Wenjing hurried over from the third floor.

After understanding the situation, it turned out that during the serving process, the server accidentally knocked over a bottle of drink on the table. The customer refused to let go of the matter, mercilessly berating the server.

Their chest-thumping and foot-stomping behavior seemed to imply that what the server spilled was not just a bottle of drink, but that the entire dining table had been overturned.

Hearing that the shift leader had arrived, the customer immediately became even more furious, shouting and making a scene in front of Gao Wenjing, nitpicking and belittling the server for their minor mistake.

Gao Wenjing maintained an appropriate smile on her face. No matter how angry the customer was or how harsh their words, she gently persuaded them, and, taking advantage of the pause after the customer finished speaking and was waiting for a response, skillfully reached out to guide the customer to sit down, while she stood obediently beside them, slightly bowing.

This allows the customer to lower their center of gravity, avoiding communication while standing.

Psychological research shows that people’s emotions are directly proportional to the height of their center of gravity—the higher the center of gravity, the more elevated the emotions. Therefore, the first step should be to get the other party to sit down, and then communicate once their emotions have calmed.

Experience proves that the service experience accumulated over the years is not in vain.

Once the customer sat down, their mood indeed noticeably calmed.

Only then did Gao Wenjing softly comfort them, carefully listening to their complaints and paying attention to providing feedback.

After the customer’s emotions slightly stabilized, she apologized with the server, compensated for the spilled drink, and also gave two extra vouchers.

At least the customer was appeased.

Finally able to leave, Gao Wenjing took the troublemaking server to a quiet corner.

After all, one of our own, seeing the server’s red eyes from being scolded by the customer, looking pitiful and aggrieved, she couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry.

”Alright, be more careful next time. Don’t be so clumsy when working. Consider today’s incident a warning. I won’t report it for now, so take care.”

Her phone vibrated, and Gao Wenjing looked down to see it was Xin Li from accounting.

”Sister Xin.”

The server stood beside her, seeing Gao Wenjing taking a call, mouthed: Sister Gao, should I go back to work?

Gao Wenjing mouthed back: Go ahead, do a good job.

On the phone, Xin Li’s voice carried a hint of sympathy:

”Wenjing, the boss knows about the incident in Room 104 and just went directly to the kitchen. He seemed quite angry, so be careful.”

When Gao Wenjing arrived at Room 104, Dong Jun Tian was already personally accompanying Lv Tianyi and others out.

In addition to Dong Jun Tian, Yao Shi was also present.

The group laughed and chatted as they left the private room, heading directly to the side door of the restaurant.

The side door leads straight to the VIP parking spots, avoiding the busy foot traffic at the main entrance.

Dong Jun Tian warmly and attentively asked the distinguished guests about their dining experience at the restaurant.

”The food was delicious, just like the taste from my hometown that I remember.”

”Before I moved abroad, I was a regular at your restaurant. It’s been over twenty years, and I’ve seriously missed it for too long.”

”Today feels like a wish fulfilled. I’ll certainly visit again when I have the chance and bring my family to enjoy the local delicacies together.”

Wang Peng smiled in agreement, and the others chimed in with polite praise.

Dong Jun Tian finally relaxed, it seemed that Fu Yu’s new dish, the crab-like creation, had perfectly satisfied the guests’ tastes.

The meal was indeed satisfying.

After successfully seeing the group off,

Dong Jun Tian breathed a genuine sigh of relief.

Watching the departing motorcade, he couldn’t help but quietly say to Yao Shi, ”That... Xiaofu is really impressive!”

Yao Shi nodded, recalling Fu Yu’s usual cooking and plating skills, and couldn’t help but comment, ”He’s very talented.”

Dong Jun Tian was taken aback, glancing at Yao Shi.

Receiving Yao Shi’s approval is no small feat.

Evidently, Fu Yu is indeed talented in this area.

Talent is something one has to acknowledge.

Moreover, even if Yao Shi hadn’t mentioned it, Dong Jun Tian had some idea.

After all, in recent times, Fu Yu’s performance has been quite outstanding.

Something clicked in Dong Jun Tian’s mind, and he nodded, ”Earlier, Boss Lv said he was very satisfied with the dishes from the kitchen. It was Xiaofu’s new crab-like dish that hit the taste right. But... besides our restaurant’s cooking method, are there other ways to make this crab-like dish? You and Old Zhao and Lao Gu don’t seem to know it either, right? Who did he learn it from?”

This question made the smile on Yao Shi’s face falter a bit.

Who did he learn it from?

In the kitchen, indeed, no one else knows how to make different versions of the crab-like dish.

If anyone did, Xiaofu wouldn’t have had his chance to shine earlier.

But the problem is, there’s no easy answer to this question!

If it were a joke, one could perhaps make up something about innate knowledge?

But now is not the time for joking around!

Dong Jun Tian was clearly very interested in this matter.

After a brief thought, Yao Shi cautiously said, ”He was preparing for the beginner’s exam and took a culinary training class.”

Dong Jun Tian frowned slightly, looking complicated: ”I remember... for the basic chef’s exam, the preparation time was less than a month, right?”

Yao Shi was somewhat helpless.

Fu Yu learning cooking from Liu Yunong wasn’t something that needed hiding.

Except because it involved Fu Yu often being late or leaving early due to work commitments, it wasn’t specifically reported.

Since it was already kept secret, it might as well be kept all the way.

However, regarding the method for the crab-like dish, it couldn’t be said that Fu Yu had learned it elsewhere, especially since the head of the chef school had good relations with Dong Jun Tian and often interacted.

If he happened to mention this on a whim, the lie wouldn’t hold.

Yao Shi earnestly made up, ”Yes, less than a month. He enrolled in a class for training. There was a teacher guiding him in the cooking exam and practicals.”

Immediately, Dong Jun Tian curiously asked, ”Are cooking class instructors now as impressive as that?”

Yao Shi nodded, ”Ordinary training institutions generally hire quite renowned chefs as lecturers.”

That explains it.

But it also shows that Fu Yu does indeed have significant talent in culinary arts.

It’s just that what he learned in the course applied perfectly to his regular job.

It seems that besides talent, Fu Yu is also very fortunate!

In business, people are somewhat superstitious.

To Dong Jun Tian, this is what it means to be financially compatible!

This kid Fu Yu is really quite remarkable!
