The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Fu Yu hung up the phone, and then Yao Shi sent over the recipe for the sauce.

Fu Yu took a close look and couldn’t help but tap the table in admiration.

Brilliant!

One must know that sauce is a chef’s ”secret weapon” for making a name and traveling far and wide.

Especially in today’s fiercely competitive environment, the quality of the sauce determines the flavor of the dish.

A good sauce can greatly enhance the color and flavor of a dish.

This unique secret sauce recipe from Qianlima, although it seems to use ordinary ingredients, the combination of these flavors just by imagining it surely tastes exquisite and distinctive.

I don’t know which elder from the Dong Family developed this sauce recipe, but it’s remarkable!

Speaking of which, Fu Yu was always particularly curious.

Why does Yao Shi, with such a significant family business, stay honestly at Qianlima helping Dong Jun Tian manage the kitchen operations?

Now it seems it might not be that Yao Shi doesn’t want to leave, but that Dong Jun Tian isn’t willing to let him go easily.

After all, Yao Shi has worked at Qianlima for so many years, who knows how many of Qianlima’s secret recipes he has in his hands.

Although with Yao Shi’s character, he’s absolutely reliable and wouldn’t easily take advantage of others’ recipes, things happen, and people change.

Thinking from another perspective, if I were Dong Jun Tian, I probably wouldn’t dare take that risk either.

But then again, if that day ever came, I certainly wouldn’t hand over the secret recipe to someone else.

After all, relying on oneself is better than relying on others.

Zhang Jinyu quickly found an appropriate clay pot.

Fu Yu checked it over and was very satisfied, then turned to Zhang Jinyu and instructed: ”Go tell them to just clean the seafood well, no need to cut it, I’ll handle it myself.”

Zhang Jinyu nodded and turned to leave.

Beside him, Sun Qingning came over, concerned: ”Chef Fu, should I go look for Chef Gu again?”

Fu Yu shook his head: ”No need, just steam some beef sauce for me, I’ll need it for cooking.”

Sun Qingning agreed and quickly went to fetch marinated beef.

Qianlima’s special beef sauce is made using marinated beef.

No special ingredients are added, just authentic chili powder mixed with scallions and cilantro, topped with a spoonful of marinade and steamed directly.

The resulting beef sauce is rich in aroma and spiciness.

Sometimes, when the restaurant’s dishes become monotonous, Zhao Meng would occasionally steam a bowl of beef sauce, pairing it with plain handmade noodles, mixing them to eat hot and fragrant, which is especially appetizing.

Once everyone was dispatched, Fu Yu’s face darkened.

Gu Yunwu, this guy, is just too irresponsible.

Both lazy and cunning.

Fu Yu cursed him silently in his mind.

If Gu Yunwu had been here just now, there wouldn’t have been this much trouble!

But then again, getting Gu Yunwu involved would probably put Yao Shi in a difficult position.

After all, it seems that compared to Gu Yunwu, Yao Shi obviously trusts me more.

Otherwise, why would Yao Shi choose to give me the secret sauce recipe when it would have been easier to contact Gu Yunwu directly?

Forget it, I didn’t really expect him anyway!

Thinking this, I felt a little relieved.

With no one around, Fu Yu quickly started mixing the sauce.

In the bowl, he added appropriate amounts of salt, sugar, chicken powder, a spoonful of dark soy sauce, two spoonfuls of light soy sauce, one spoonful of oyster sauce, half a spoonful of black pepper sauce, a spoonful of tomato sauce, and half a spoonful of yellow bean sauce. He mixed it well with a suitable amount of water.

Once the beef sauce is steamed, it can be mixed directly in.

Fu Yu took a spoon and tasted the flavor of the sauce; even without the beef sauce, it already tasted quite good.

The recipe is indeed exceptional!

He set the prepared sauce aside as a waiter brought over the cleaned seafood.

Fu Yu took it, inspected it, and began cooking.

At the same time, in private room 104 in the front hall.

Han Liang smiled and said to his niece Han Ning: ”The temperature has dropped sharply these days, it’s like a quick-freeze mode; you must not be used to it since you just got back.”

Han Ning nodded. She had been sitting for a while but hadn’t taken off her down jacket.

Winters here in Bei’an are dry and cold.

Just a short walk can make you feel like the cold has seeped into your bones.

Even after all this time, she hadn’t warmed up. Even though the air conditioning in the room made it quite comfortable, her feet were still cold, and her body felt chilled to the bone.

”It’s so cold back home! I never realized it before!”

Han Ning grew up here in Bei’an, but when she was in elementary school, her family moved to another city due to her parents’ job changes.

Over a decade later, she’s back visiting with her parents.

Her uncle Han Liang invited her to dine at a very famous old restaurant in the area, saying that family gatherings were always held here when she was young, and Han Ning had mentioned back then how much she loved the food here.

Han Ning doesn’t remember much of it now.

Mostly because her parents were always busy with work and social engagements, she often ate at various restaurants, so nothing stood out particularly in her memory.

It’s like this Qianlima Restaurant; if it wasn’t for Han Liang’s suggestion, she wouldn’t have thought of it at all.

Han Ning couldn’t help but complain: ”It’s way too cold here, I really don’t want to go outside. Just stepping out and getting hit by that cold wind, seriously, it’s like being flash-frozen. If I stay out longer, I’ll probably turn into a popsicle!”

Han Liang chuckled and said: ”I’m telling you, when it’s this cold, the best way to warm up, aside from relaxing at home, is to eat spicy seafood hotpot.”

”Their hotpot is authentic here! Unfortunately, they’re not serving it anymore; I haven’t had it in years. I didn’t think about it before, but seeing you today reminded me of it.”

”Back then, before your family moved, whenever I craved it, I’d call your dad to come out and treat me to dinner. Every winter, we’d come here to eat seafood hotpot.”

”The sauce they have, I don’t know how they make it, but it’s exceptionally fresh! Cooking while eating, it’s fragrant and spicy; oh, the satisfaction it brings, just thinking about it makes my mouth water!”

As Han Liang described it, an image suddenly flashed in Han Ning’s mind, and she vaguely began to recall.

”Uncle, is that seafood hotpot the one where you can add water and sauce after eating it to make a soup base and continue cooking like a hotpot?”

Han Liang smiled: ”Yes, that’s the one!”

Han Ning felt a bit more interested: ”I remember this dish was quite popular back then, why did it get discontinued?”

Han Liang shook his head: ”I don’t know, maybe it just became outdated. People’s tastes change so quickly nowadays! But the chefs in their kitchen haven’t changed, so it should still taste the same!”

”I know the owner, I’m very familiar with how things run in this place.”

Han Ning nodded: ”I see, a dish that’s been taken off the menu, and you just say you want it, and the kitchen makes it for you.”

Han Liang laughed: ”See, I’ve been friends with Dong Jun Tian for so many years, let me tell you...”
