The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Liu Yuqing had no choice but to help order a few dishes.

After handing the order slip to the attendant, Liu Yuqing waved, ”Alright, you go with the server to the private room.”

Wang Kangxu stood still, ”I’m already here; can’t you have a meal with me?”

Liu Yuqing: ”I’m working!”

Wang Kangxu: ”Then how about we go out tonight after work?”

Liu Yuqing: ”Seriously, are you that idle?”

Wang Kangxu shrugged and smiled nonchalantly, ”I’ll be working in Bei’an from now on, so I can visit you whenever I have time.”

Liu Yuqing: ”What do you mean?!”

Wang Kangxu smiled smugly, feeling pleased, and winked at Liu Yuqing, ”I submitted a report to the bureau to visit and intern at the Bei’an branch for a few days. If everything is suitable, I’ll stay here.”

”My home is just in Bei’an. Previously, my family insisted I go to the provincial city, but I didn’t really want to. It worked out perfectly this time since the branch here had an opening, and it all came together for me.”

”...”

Liu Yuqing was almost choked by this person.

She looked quite uncomfortable, cursing inwardly. Damn! No wonder this guy has been hanging around so often recently!

This transfer application must not be approved!

If Wang Kangxu were to settle in Bei’an, wouldn’t he cling to her like sticky candy in the future?!

In the ordering area, Wang Kangxu warmly chatting with Liu Yuqing caught someone’s keen eye.

Fu Yu, just coming around, saw a good-looking young man standing by Liu Yuqing, and they seemed close.

At this moment, the attendant was about to take the order to the kitchen, and Fu Yu noticed it was the one Liu Yuqing helped with and intercepted it.

”I’m just going back. Give it to me.”

Glad to skip a trip, the attendant handed the order to Fu Yu, ”Great, thank you, Chef Fu!”

Fu Yu nodded and, as he turned, glanced back at the ordering area.

Just then, Wang Kangxu followed Liu Yuqing out.

The two sides met directly.

Fu Yu, with a straight face, glanced past Wang Kangxu and looked directly at Liu Yuqing, ”A friend here for a meal?”

Liu Yuqing let out an ”ah”: ”Oh, yes.”

Liu Yuqing stiffly introduced, ”This is my schoolmate, Wang Kangxu.”

”This is our restaurant’s head chef, Fu Yu.”

Wang Kangxu shook hands with Fu Yu, smiling, ”Technically, we’re kind of in the same field. I majored in culinary studies in college, and now, after graduation, I’ve joined the Food Supervision Bureau.”

Fu Yu nodded, raising the order slip in his hand, ”No wonder, you really know your food.”

Seeing that Fu Yu was Liu Yuqing’s colleague and quite handsome, Wang Kangxu deliberately joked, ”Xiaoqing helped order, scared I’d miss the restaurant’s specialties. I’ve been hearing that Chef Fu at Qianlima is really skilled, specially came to try it out.”

Fu Yu snorted, ”Wanna taste some authentic specialties, huh? You should have some Wenshi Tofu then! Well, since you’re Xiaoqing’s friend, I’ll make an exception today and show you my skills.”

Liu Yuqing: ”...”

...What can I say about this approach?

It’s like flooding the doorstep only to splash it around at home.

Fu Yu turned and left with the order slip.

Wang Kangxu stared at Fu Yu’s tall back, probing, ”You seem pretty familiar with that chef?

Indeed quite familiar, Liu Yuqing also fixed her eyes on Fu Yu’s back.

Seeing Fu Yu suddenly come over filled her with a secret joy, and his response made an indescribable sense of satisfaction well up inside her.

But she couldn’t foolishly confess that Wang Kangxu seemed to be pursuing her.

Nor could she drag Fu Yu into pretending to be her boyfriend to get rid of Wang Kangxu.

Doing that would be too childish and would definitely cause trouble for Fu Yu.

Thinking about this, Liu Yuqing withdrew her gaze, glanced at Wang Kangxu standing beside her more annoyingly, and said impatiently, ”Alright, go have your meal; I’ve got work to do!”

With that, she turned and walked away, not giving Wang Kangxu another chance to pester her.

Actually, she often sneaks out when there are no takeout orders to get some milk tea from the side street and share it with a few of her girlfriends.

Sometimes, she would specially bring a cup to Fu Yu.

The two of them would steal moments in the back kitchen, sipping milk tea and eating some small dishes from the kitchen.

Wang Kangxu reached out to stop Liu Yuqing, trying to persuade her, ”Your job is too busy. It’s noon, and you still can’t rest for a while?”

Liu Yuqing shot him a glance, ”Even if we rest, we still eat in the canteen. Don’t come over all the time; reporting my employee price won’t really save you much money but will interrupt my work.”

Having not seen Liu Yuqing for days, Wang Kangxu was quite nostalgic, fond of Liu Yuqing’s usual aloofness, her indifference to everything.

So chic, so charming, inherently a creature of allure, a person like her was elusive yet constantly on his mind, impossible to let go.

Especially with Liu Yuqing’s beautiful face, stunning, with her almond-shaped eyes slightly upturned and watery—seeing her made anyone’s heart skip.

At this time, with the busiest booking period almost over, the helpers began organizing the utensils, while Sun Qingning was busy discussing the staff meal menu with Zhang Jiaxin.

Fu Yu had initially planned to finish up and sneak a little rest, but at this point, he couldn’t let anyone else take his order.

He directly claimed this order and busied himself with cooking.

Without a word, he instructed the helpers to prepare the ingredients, his movements remarkably swift and skilled.

He sliced the eggplants with skins on into rolling slices of varying thickness, seared the skillet with high heat, and tossed in a handful of garlic cloves.

Finally, he added large prawns.

With one hand flipping the pan and the other vigorously stir-frying, the stove flame tinted his skin like red copper, imbuing even a simple dish with a grand, heroic aura.

...

In the private room.

Wang Kangxu tasted the dishes one by one alone.

Garlic eggplant stewed with prawns.

The prawns were fresh, and the eggplant flavorful, infused with a rich garlic aroma.

Delicious!

Ginger scallion crab.

Crab is best enjoyed alone, not paired with other ingredients.

The best crab is one freshly shelled and stir-fried.

This dish used live, meaty crab, freshly shelled and stir-fried, with only scallions and ginger added.

These ingredients neutralize the odor and enhance the flavor, whetting the appetite.

The dish, a mix of red and white, was fresh and exquisite in taste.

Wang Kangxu tasted each dish, clicking his tongue in appreciation.

Delicious!

Authentic!

When the last dish was served on the table, Wang Kangxu was dumbfounded.

This Wenshi Tofu was done so well!

The knife skills were precise.

Tofu, shiitake mushrooms, winter bamboo shoots, ham, and chicken breast were all cut to hair-thin shreds.

And each strand was distinct.

Having studied a culinary-related major in university, Wang Kangxu had heard a bit about this traditional dish with a long history.

However, because this dish is complex, quite testing the culinary skills, and time-consuming, you rarely find it in ordinary restaurants.
