The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Yao Yihang felt a surge of joy when he realized that Jia Rundong recognized him.

He said happily, ”That’s right! Hello, Manager Jia.”

Jia Rundong nodded, ”Hello, is there something you need from me?”

The first thing that came to Jia Rundong’s mind was, is Chef Yao about to resign?

Every year around this time, there’s a lot of staff turnover in the restaurant.

Once the batch of students from the culinary school graduates, the restaurant will have to recruit some newcomers, and it will be another busy time with arrangements.

Yao Yihang quickly said, ”Manager Jia, it’s nothing much, I just always thought you were a really good person. Seeing Fu Yu act like that towards you just now made me feel uncomfortable. Manager Jia, Fu Yu has been indulged by Chef Zhao, which has made him this way. Please don’t take it to heart, he’s just like that!”

Jia Rundong was taken aback as he listened.

Out of nowhere, Fu Yu and the young Zhao Meng’s images suddenly overlapped in his mind.

You know, both of them have that kind of reckless attitude!

Compared to the stubborn Zhao Meng, among the two head chefs in the back kitchen, Jia Rundong actually preferred the more tactful and sensible Gu Yunwu.

However...

Seeing Yao Yihang’s behavior, Jia Rundong couldn’t help but frown.

Isn’t this kid working under Gu Yunwu?

Why is he acting so immaturely!

This kind of tactic is really, utterly laughable.

Jia Rundong sneered inwardly with derision, then suddenly thought, actually, this might not be so bad...

Jia Rundong nodded and suddenly said, ”Xiao Yao, if anything comes up in the back kitchen in the future, just send me a message, or call me. By the way, you know my phone number, right?”

Yao Yihang quickly replied, ”I know! It’s the second number on the contact card the restaurant gave us.”

That one sentence unexpectedly pleased Jia Rundong!

That’s it!

How could it be possible for someone in the restaurant not to know his contact number and even dare to pretend not to recognize it and not answer his calls!

Just thinking about it made him angry!

...

Fu Yu had the early shift today. After work, he took the opportunity to tidy up Zhao Meng’s house again.

He heard from Zhao Meng that the boss had acquired the adjacent Dayu Mall.

The house frames are already there, so if they really start renovations, it’ll be quick.

He’s hurrying to get the house cleaned up so that when they start rebuilding the dormitories, he can move in right away.

After a busy day, he called home in the evening.

Then, before Zhao Meng went to bed, he went to Zhao Meng’s room to use the private bathroom for a shower.

Only then did he lie comfortably on the bed and sleep until morning.

The next day.

Fu Yu had the early shift again.

However, ever since he became a full-time employee, he no longer needed to get up early to help the buyer with inventory, like he did when he was an assistant.

Breakfast is also prepared by someone else.

He just needs to clock in at the front hall on time, then go to the back kitchen for breakfast.

Then he can start his work for the day directly.

This kind of life made Fu Yu feel quite content.

The business in the restaurant is good, and usually starting at ten in the morning, the lunch rush extends until three in the afternoon.

As a result, the lunch breaks for the back kitchen staff also have to be delayed accordingly.

As he watched the order list decrease, Fu Yu was just about to discuss with Sun Qingning what to make for lunch when his phone suddenly rang.

”Xiaofu, you don’t need to work this afternoon, take a cab to the music restaurant. Liu Yu is hosting a dinner tonight, and I recommended the Three Turn Banquet to him.”

Yao Shi advised over the phone, ”I’ll come to the back kitchen in a while. If anyone asks, just say you took an on-site service job. If there’s nothing else, you should get ready soon since the reservation is for six tonight.”

Fu Yu quickly agreed and hung up the phone, then took the opportunity to tell Zhao Meng about the arrangement.

Zhao Meng nodded and advised, ”Then hurry and go, don’t waste time.”

Fu Yu was about to leave when he suddenly remembered he had just accepted a big banquet order.

Zhao Meng had injured his hand, so he couldn’t handle it.

Sun Qingning’s culinary skills weren’t up to par to do it.

What to do?

At that moment, Yao Yihang came over to Zhao Meng and said, ”Chef Zhao, Chef Gu sent me to take over Chef Fu’s work.”

There was no other choice.

Yao Shi needed time to get here, and if Fu Yu left now, there would be no one to handle the order.

Zhao Meng looked at Yao Yihang and nodded, ”Alright, you go ahead and take over the stove.”

Fu Yu watched the arrangements being made and quickly left.

It was already past three, and it would take at least until four to get to the music restaurant by taxi, which meant he’d have to start cooking immediately upon arrival, with no time to spare.

Even after leaving the back kitchen, the first thing Fu Yu did was take out his phone and call Zhang Jinyu.

”Jin Yu, I have to head out for something. Yao Yihang is coming over to cover for me, keep an eye on things for me.”

Zhang Jinyu responded, ”Okay, don’t worry, I’ve got it covered!”

It wasn’t that Fu Yu didn’t trust Yao Yihang.

Uh... okay, he simply didn’t trust the guy.

If this kid tried to pull something while he was away, it would be troublesome!

Having someone keep watch would be reassuring!

Fu Yu got into the taxi and hurriedly called Zhang Zhen.

”Chef Zhang, you heard about me heading over, right... Yeah, no worries. Mainly, the ingredients needed for the Three Turn Banquet are quite extensive, so maybe we could go over them now? I’m afraid we won’t have enough time later...”

Zhang Zhen’s ability to handle things was commendable.

By the time Fu Yu reached the music restaurant, all the accompanying dishes were prepared, and the necessary seasonings were arranged on the kitchen counter, ready to use.

Seeing Fu Yu arrive, Zhang Zhen quickly greeted him with a friendly smile, ”Chef Fu, come on in! Everything’s ready for you, check if anything’s missing, and I’ll have them prepare it!”

Zhang Zhen had received instructions from Yao Shi earlier, saying that Fu Yu would come over to prepare the banquet.

This banquet was organized by the deputy boss Liu Yu to host guests.

Zhang Zhen, sharp as ever, realized that if it required the hands-on involvement of the usually absent deputy boss, not only was Fu Yu’s culinary skill remarkable, but his relationship with the two bosses was evidently quite close.

Zhang Zhen, who already admired Fu Yu’s culinary skill, was eager to get on his good side, now more than ever wanting to become friends with him.

Fu Yu quickly went to the kitchen counter, looked everything over, and smiled as he said, ”It’s all here. I’ll start cooking now.”

Zhang Zhen, of course, had no objections.

The music restaurant primarily catered to banquets, and they still had a few hot dishes that needed preparation, so they sent the assistant Zhou Yesheng to help Fu Yu.

Zhou Yesheng and Fu Yu had worked together before and were quite familiar with each other.

Especially after witnessing Fu Yu’s exquisite culinary skills and seeing the head chef Zhang Zhen treat Fu Yu with obvious regard, Zhou Yesheng took the assistant role with great seriousness.
