The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 335: Chapter 334: Needs a Good Talking-To

Fu Yu was a bit surprised.

He was already aware of the recruitment targets for the kitchen staff.

Four newcomers, two experienced hands.

According to the usual practice, Zhao Meng and Gu Yunwu would each pick an experienced hand and two juniors.

But now, Yao Shi intended to assign him an experienced hand to assist.

Yao Shi looked at Fu Yu, remained silent for a few seconds, and continued: ”I originally planned to assign the people to Chef Zhao and Chef Gu, but now that Chef Zhao’s hand hasn’t healed well on one hand, and on the other, the boss made it clear at today’s meeting that the kitchen structure needs some adjustment.”

”Currently, the temporary plan is to promote another head chef in the kitchen, so besides Chef Zhao and Chef Gu, there will be another person to lead and take orders.”

”This way, our kitchen’s core strength will be divided into three groups, and thus we must supplement and readjust the manpower.”

Thinking about Dong Jun Tian eloquently speaking at the meeting, Yao Shi smiled self-deprecatingly and said: ”I originally planned to have you work in the cooking position for two years until the contract expired, then transfer you to the music restaurant. But it seems the boss is preparing to promote you now.”

Saying this, Yao Shi smiled at Fu Yu: ”In the end, it’s because you’re truly excellent. If gold, you’ll shine sooner or later, I can see your potential, and so can others.”

”Your plasticity is very strong, and your future is boundless. I even start to feel now that even if you indeed transfer to the music restaurant in the future, I might not be able to keep you.”

Hearing this, Fu Yu was shocked inwardly, but tried hard not to show it on his face.

He thought for a long time about what Zhao Meng said to him last night.

He knew that one aspect he currently lacked was the accumulation of social experience, and the other was the depth that comes with time.

Not letting others easily see what you are thinking is really the first step to success.

Yao Shi looked at Fu Yu: ”Of course, from your perspective, you actually should go out more to increase your knowledge. The catering industry in Bei’an is relatively lagging in development, and some emerging catering industries simply cannot develop.”

”Sometimes, when I see the innovative dishes you create, I occasionally think that if I had the experience I have now back then, I definitely wouldn’t choose to return home hastily. Even if I did return, I certainly wouldn’t stay in Bei’an for half my life.”

Fu Yu listened quietly to Yao Shi speaking, not quite sure what to say.

Yao Shi suddenly paused, then looked at Fu Yu seriously: ”So, I thought it over and decided that this decision to let you lead someone is also an opportunity for you. The catering industry in Bei’an is indeed relatively underdeveloped and slow to grow, but in a city like this, especially in an old taste restaurant like Qianlima, there’s an advantage that other places can’t compare with, which is that it offers you a platform to start.”

”Here, you don’t need to worry about anything, just patiently hone your cooking skills, don’t worry about anything else, and when this batch of newcomers arrives, we just assign you an experienced hand, so you don’t have to bother with guidance or anything.”

Fu Yu was a bit confused by what he heard.

Did Chef Yao mean for him to work at Qianlima with peace of mind?

But...

He was waiting to switch to the music restaurant!

Fu Yu couldn’t help but ask: ”Chef Yao, this...”

Yao Shi pat him on the shoulder: ”In the future, just work here with peace of mind. As long as I’m here, I’ll cover you, and everything will wait until you finish the primary certification exam.”

Fu Yu felt relieved, which meant that after the exam, he could consider switching jobs?

...

After work in the evening, Fu Yu was planning to call home first and then go online to check the requirements for registering in a training class for the primary exam.

The day after tomorrow, he would go to the training school to register, and he needed to know in advance what he needed to prepare.

Unexpectedly, once the call was connected, before he even could inquire about how his family was doing, his mother told him a piece of big news.

His cousin, Lin Minghao, had taken a leave of absence from school.

Back then, Lin Minghao secretly changed his college application choices himself, stubbornly refusing to study the accounting major arranged by his parents and switched to the e-commerce live-streaming major instead.

He acted first and reported later, creating chaos at home.

As a result, only two months into the semester, he went behind their back and applied for a leave of absence.

By the time his parents found out, it was already too late to change anything.

Fu Yu didn’t expect Lin Minghao to be so bold; this kid quietly went ahead and finalized the leave of absence.

It was all done under the guise of entrepreneurship, and he personally negotiated it with his supervisor. Once the formalities were done, he immediately packed his luggage and left.

While Fu Yu was still processing this ”drama,” his mom threw another bombshell his way.

”Minghao returned home from school and quarreled with your aunt for two days. Your aunt just called me, saying Minghao agreed to go back to school, but the condition is he wants to attend the Qiming E-commerce Training School’s pre-competition intensive class to prepare for the National E-commerce Live Competition...”

As he listened to his mom, Fu Yu was internally criticizing, thinking how Minghao was really acting up!

He dropped out of a good university, took a leave of absence, and was now eager to enroll in some intensive class for the competition.

This kid is surely spoiled by the family to the point he’s unaware of the vast world!

He needs to be disciplined!

However, when he heard his mom mention the school where Minghao planned to enroll in the pre-competition intensive class, Fu Yu quickly interrupted her.

”Wait, Mom, hang on! The Qiming School you mentioned, it wouldn’t be the one in Bei’an, right?”

There’s indeed a Qiming E-commerce Training School in Bei’an, newly opened last year, and its principal is the nation’s top-selling host, Liu Yiming.

Because Liu Yiming was a native of Bei’an, after rising to fame, he chose to set up his first private school in his hometown.

The city had placed significant emphasis on this matter at the time, providing Liu Yiming with various privileges and green channels.

Even someone like Fu Yu, who was studying culinary arts, had heard about this, showing how famous the Qiming E-commerce Training School was.

”Yes, it’s the one in Bei’an. Your aunt heard that Minghao planned to head to your area, so she agreed. I was just about to call you to talk about this, and then you called.”

Fu Yu: ”...”

”Your aunt said that Minghao bought a train ticket for Monday night and would arrive in Bei’an by noon on Tuesday. If you have time, try to pick him up at the station!”

Fu Yu: ”...”

”Your aunt originally wanted to come with him, to check on you as well, but she was so upset by Minghao that her high blood pressure acted up, and she’s taking medication now, so she doesn’t dare to travel far.”

Fu Yu: ”...”

”Your aunt gave me Minghao’s train details and arrival time, I’ll send them to you later and try to pick him up. Otherwise, your aunt would be worried, and I’m also quite concerned.”

Listening to his mom’s instructions made Fu Yu’s head ache.
