The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 320: Chapter 319: Entering the Doors with Zhao Meng

The hospital ward was originally not very spacious, with six hospital beds crammed together tightly.

As soon as they started eating, the whole ward was filled with the rich aroma of seafood.

The pregnant woman in bed two, who couldn’t resist the smell, asked, ”What are you eating? It smells so good!”

Her family, hearing this, quickly asked, ”What, are you hungry? What do you want to eat?”

The elders in the family were also anxious, saying, ”If you can eat something before giving birth, you’ll have the strength when it’s time to deliver!”

The pregnant woman in bed two was different from others; since becoming pregnant, she had always had a poor appetite, lying in bed every day without moving, and was admitted to the hospital early on to await childbirth.

When they heard she wanted to eat something, her family was ecstatic and hurried to prepare food for her.

The pregnant woman in bed two whispered to her husband, ”Go see what they’re eating next door. It smells so good!”

At this moment, if she wanted to eat the moon, her husband would have wished to pluck it for her.

Upon hearing this, he quickly went over to bed three to inquire, ”Hey, sorry to bother you, what are you eating? My wife thinks it smells good and wants some, I’m planning to order the same for her!”

Li Weijia replied with a smile, ”Oh, we ordered it from Qianlima, and it’s really well-made. My wife says it tastes fresh and delicious.”

As they were talking, a nurse came over to prepare bed five for delivery.

”Wow, what are you eating? It smells great!”

The nurse passed by bed three, poked her head in to take a look, and smiled, ”Looks quite sumptuous! Sure, having some seafood before delivery is great, it’s good for the baby, and gives the mother strength too.”

The husband of the pregnant woman in bed two quickly asked, ”Then I’ll order some too, it’s okay to eat before the delivery, right, nurse?”

The nurse smiled and said, ”No problem, having some seafood is good! If your wife can eat, that’s wonderful. She’s always had trouble eating, and the doctor was quite worried!”

With the nurse’s reassurance, the family of the pregnant woman in bed two peered at the dishes and urged, ”Then hurry up and order the same as theirs. It looks quite good!”

As they took action, the families of the pregnant women in beds four and one couldn’t sit still either.

On one hand, the aroma of the food was indeed enticing.

On the other hand, after hearing the nurse say that seafood is good for the strength to give birth, and it’s also nutritious for the child, they were convinced.

Several families came over to ask Li Weijia about the restaurant and the names of the dishes, knitting their own plans to order meals.

...

Sun Qingning skillfully stir-fried the ingredients in the pan.

Zhao Meng, now in charge of the stove, had specifically assigned a helper to assist Sun Qingning.

After nearly a month of Zhao Meng’s intensive cultivation, Sun Qingning’s cooking skills had rapidly improved.

Except for the overly complicated dishes, he could basically handle cooking all others on the order list directly.

This made him both smug and secretly thankful.

He was fortunate to catch such a good opportunity.

If it weren’t for Zhao Meng’s old illness flaring up, preventing him from handling the stove, and if Fu Yu hadn’t been exceptional, whether serving customers at home or participating in competitions, how could he have had the chance to receive Zhao Meng’s earnest guidance?

They say a mentor leads you to the door, but practice is up to the individual.

You have to be led to the door first!

Sun Qingning knew he was lucky to have followed Zhao Meng through the door.

So he worked diligently during this period, not afraid of hard work or fatigue, never even mentioning rest days.

Zhao Meng liked nothing better than hardworking people. Spending some time together, his impression of Sun Qingning improved significantly.

When instructing him, he also became more attentive.

The duo, one eager to learn, the other dedicated to teaching, allowed Sun Qingning to grow swiftly into someone who could almost independently handle the stove.

Sun Qingning was busy flipping the wok when an order clerk came over to hand a note to Gu Yunwu, ”Chef Gu, an order for takeaway!”

Gu Yunwu took the note, glanced at it, and asked in surprise, ”Who placed this order?”

The order clerk replied, ”The front desk received it.”

Gu Yunwu frowned, ”But these dishes aren’t on our menu.”

The order clerk said, ”The customer mentioned that someone had just ordered this from us before.”

Gu Yunwu was taken aback, ”How is that possible!”

Saying that, he thought of something and turned to ask Zhao Meng, ”Chef Zhao! Did you receive a takeaway order just now?”

Zhao Meng replied, ”Ah, Fu Yu took one!”

Gu Yunwu handed over the note, ”Are these dishes made by your team?”

Zhao Meng glanced at the note and recognized the dishes as ones Fu Yu had made earlier. His heart skipped a beat, ”Yes, we made these, but...”

”The customer just placed this order.” Gu Yunwu said with intrigue, ”But these dishes aren’t on our menu!”

Zhao Meng, unfazed, said, ”Oh, these are the innovative dishes Fu Yu specially learned to prepare for the cooking competition the other day. An old customer came in today, so we let him try the new dishes. Seems the effect is good; they’ve already caught returning customers.”

Gu Yunwu: ”...”

So, these dishes were all Fu Yu’s creations?

Not just one, but four dishes and a soup?

This is...

This is quite impressive!

Gu Yunwu couldn’t help but look at Fu Yu.

He had always seen potential in Fu Yu.

He didn’t expect this kid to keep surprising him!

It would be so wonderful if Fu Yu was under his supervision!

Gu Yunwu couldn’t resist glancing at Fu Yu again.

Zhao Meng was handing over the order list, relaying instructions to Fu Yu regarding the takeaway.

Fu Yu didn’t expect to attract returning customers so quickly, even ordering the exact same dishes, clearly following the previous order.

What surprised them was yet to come.

Just as Fu Yu began preparing ingredients for the order, the food runner soon returned with another takeaway order slip, featuring the exact same dishes.

Zhang Jinyu, in rare quick-wittedness, happily remarked, ”Could these all be for pregnant women waiting to deliver? Seeing others eat it makes them crave it too!”

Fu Yu found this quite possible.

After promptly receiving another two orders, he confirmed this suspicion.

At closing time, Zhao Meng discussed with Fu Yu.

”Earlier, when Gu Yunwu asked about these dishes, I mentioned they were your innovative creations. Since the word’s out, why not let Chef Yao submit them for you?”

The restaurant had a policy; creating innovative dishes was rewarded with a bonus.

Hearing this, Fu Yu thought to himself, oh no!

These dishes were copied from a classic recipe; how would he explain if questioned?

Zhao Meng was always action-oriented.

Before Fu Yu could think of a way out, Zhao Meng had already contacted Yao Shi to apply for the innovative dish bonus on his behalf.
