The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 329: Chapter 328: Stingy to the Extreme

11:30 AM.

Before the doctor’s lunch break, they specifically came to the delivery room to check in.

In the delivery room, there were a total of four expectant mothers, each with different reactions. However, it seemed that the earliest possible time for delivery would be in the evening.

When the doctor observed Sun Yuying, she happened to be eating.

Interestingly, although she had been exhausted and listless due to pre-labor pains, she now seemed noticeably more spirited.

Moreover, she looked like she was enjoying her meal, and her complexion was not as pale as before, which had been worrisome.

The arrival of the doctor excited the family members.

Pan Yuanlong asked, ”Doctor, when can my wife give birth?”

The labor pains came on intermittently, causing unbearable suffering, and Pan Yuanlong was both distressed and helpless to see his wife in such agony.

The doctor chuckled and said, ”Eager to meet the baby? She seems to be in good spirits, so it’s good for her to eat more to have the strength for delivery later.”

Mrs. Pan quickly asked, ”Could you possibly check again to see how many centimeters she’s dilated now?”

The doctor nodded, ”Sure! But I estimate that it will still take until the evening. If you’re worried, we can check again.”

The family frantically moved the dining table aside to allow the doctor to perform the examination.

After a careful check, the doctor smiled and said, ”She’s already dilated three centimeters. No need to panic, her condition is very stable, and the baby is the right size, so the delivery should go smoothly.”

Relief washed over the entire family.

Mrs. Pan comforted her daughter-in-law, ”Yingying, you’re already at three centimeters, it won’t be long now. We won’t even need to wait until the evening, and we’ll be done!”

The doctor nodded, ”You don’t need to be too anxious. Eating some food before delivery is beneficial, but don’t eat too much.”

He glanced casually at the piled-up takeout boxes beside them, ”Oh, did you order this from Qianlima? Their seafood is really authentic. It’s fine to eat a bit, but avoid spicy food!”

The family quickly responded affirmatively.

After the doctor left, the family of an expectant mother nearby came over to the makeshift partition and greeted them. When Pan Yuanlong came out, they started a conversation with a smile, ”Turns out you ordered takeout from Qianlima? No wonder it smells so good!”

Feeling much relieved after hearing the doctor say everything was normal with his wife, Pan Yuanlong replied with a smile, ”I specifically went there to order. Their meals for pregnant women are quite good. We heard about them from others when we were in the ward, tried them once, and they were indeed impressive. Since the delivery is near, we quickly ordered another meal. My wife’s case is special, she’s had severe morning sickness and couldn’t eat anything, but the food from there is the only thing she can manage to eat.”

The person listening was immediately intrigued, ”Really? My wife too has had no appetite. But when did Qianlima start offering meals for pregnant women? I’ve never heard of it.”

Pan Yuanlong explained, ”It’s not an official meal for pregnant women offered by the shop. I just saw someone else ordering a set menu that looked pretty good, so I ordered something similar. Today, the doctor suggested eating bananas, hawthorns, and oranges before delivery, so I requested it specially. I didn’t expect the kitchen to make it happen.”

”The chefs there are indeed skilled, and the dishes are especially tasty. My wife can’t usually eat anything, except for what’s made there, which she finds quite palatable.”

...

Wang Zhen, having gotten the takeout order details from the neighboring maternity family, was feeling uneasy.

His wife was also about to go into labor, but it was just beginning, and real labor was still far off.

Originally, there was no need to come to the delivery room, but his parents cherished their unborn grandson so much that they insisted on pulling strings to have her placed inside.

Influenced by his parents, Wang Zhen was also somewhat anxious.

Since his wife got pregnant, she’s been suffering from severe morning sickness, and whenever she eats something, she’d throw it all up soon after.

Worried that the fetus was not getting enough nutrition, they eventually had to admit her for prenatal care with regular IV treatments.

If a cesarean section were an option, things might be easier, but the family hoped she could plan for a second child.

The elders on both sides believed that a cesarean section was not good for the mother or child, and natural delivery should be pursued if possible.

Her baby’s position and weight were both suitable.

Therefore, following the doctor’s advice, they gave up the idea of a cesarean section.

Now, with delivery imminent, the doctor advised his wife to try to eat something to ensure she had the strength for the delivery.

The whole family was in a rush again.

No matter how much power or money his family had, they couldn’t help if his wife couldn’t keep any food down.

When Wang Zhen was talking to the people next door, his family heard it too.

His mom excitedly suggested, ”Let’s order a meal for pregnant women too! I heard what you were saying just now; their case is quite similar to ours. Maybe Dandan can eat a bit?”

Wang Zhen nodded, ”Alright, I’ll go over there now.”

His elder sister then said, ”You don’t have to go yourself. Isn’t it just Qianlima? Let your brother-in-law give their store a call.”

Wang Zhen’s brother-in-law is a leader at the health bureau and has interacted with all the shop owners in the area.

...

Dong Jun Tian was in the finance room listening to the accountant report this month’s advance bonuses.

The shop’s good business performance resulted in relatively high commissions for employees.

Dong Jun Tian, with a cheerful demeanor, said, ”Alright, everyone worked hard last month, so let’s distribute this month’s salary a week early.”

Paying salaries a few days early is just a small gesture. If you really appreciated the hard work of the employees, you should give them a little extra bonus, even 100 bucks!

So stingy!

Xin Li exchanged a glance with the cashier Su Hong, both internally grumbling, but outwardly smiling and thanking, ”That’s great, thank you, boss!”

In the midst of their gratitude, Dong Jun Tian left in good spirits.

Just as he returned to his office, he received a call from Director Sun of the Health Bureau.

Director Sun said cheerfully, ”Boss Dong, I heard your store offers a special meal for pregnant women that’s quite good. Could you prepare one for delivery to the delivery room at the Second Hospital for a patient named Xu Dan?”

Dong Jun Tian was taken aback and blurted out, ”Huh? Our store doesn’t have a special meal for pregnant women?”

Upon hearing this, Director Sun’s tone immediately dropped, ”Xu Dan is my sister-in-law, a member of the family. She wants to eat a pregnant meal from your place, but I’m tied up here, so I asked you for this favor. Boss Dong, you’re not refusing to help me, are you...”

Dong Jun Tian quickly replied, ”No, not at all! How could I? If it’s said to be from our store, then I’ll have the kitchen prepare it. Rest assured, I’ll make sure it’s done properly for you.”
