The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 325: Chapter 324: Don’t Be So Fussy

Qianlima’s kitchen.

Fu Yu looked at the order slip in his hand and fell silent.

The slip itself was normally filled, apart from the customer’s special notes, there was nothing on it.

The customer didn’t order any specific dishes, just requested a seafood set meal suitable for a pregnant woman about to give birth.

Sun Qingning leaned over to look at the order slip and frowned, asking, ”What should a pregnant woman eat before giving birth? If he doesn’t clarify, how are we supposed to know!”

Zhao Meng had already decided what to make, tapped Sun Qingning, and said, ”Why so much fuss? For childbirth, you’ve got to eat something high in nutrition and protein, like shrimp or fish. I say, just make the dishes from last time and it’ll be fine!”

Anyway, they had ordered before, and they were satisfied with it. Making the same again couldn’t go wrong.

Meanwhile, in Qianlima’s front hall.

Pan Yuanlong was staring intently at the video on his phone.

His wife was moaning in pain due to labor pains.

The parents from both sides were anxiously gathered around, and his mom, holding a phone, couldn’t help but urge, ”Why isn’t he back yet? Yingying just finally stopped hurting and thought she could eat a little something!”

Pan Yuanlong was anxious but helpless, so he could only explain, ”There was traffic on the way here. I just arrived, but I’ve already ordered food. Once it’s ready, I’ll head back right away!”

His mother-in-law spoke into the phone, ”Yuanlong, don’t listen to your mom! Take it easy, don’t rush, and be careful driving back. It’s easy to make mistakes when in a hurry! Yingying’s labor just started, it’s still early before the delivery!”

In just a few exchanges, Pan Yuanlong was sweating profusely, watching beads of sweat run down his face.

His mother-in-law, seeing his concern for her daughter, softened her tone even more and persuaded, ”Find a place to sit and rest there, birth takes a long time, rushing won’t help.”

Just as she persuaded him a bit, Pan Yuanlong’s own mother remembered something and quickly said into the phone, ”Oh right! Yuanlong, tell the restaurant to prepare some foods like oranges, hawthorns, and bananas! Yingying can’t swallow whole fruits, ask if the restaurant can process them for her!”

His mother-in-law hurriedly stopped her, ”How can a restaurant make fruit dishes? If it’s just a fruit platter, we can cut it ourselves, Yingying won’t be able to eat them whole!”

His mom retorted, ”The doctor said it’s good to eat these before giving birth! It’s essential to ensure the pregnant woman has enough nutrition and energy to have the strength for delivery!”

Pan Yuanlong was about to speak when the video focused on the hospital bed.

His wife was suffering, her face gaunt and pale from severe morning sickness, appearing even more so under the camera’s light.

Upon seeing his wife, Pan Yuanlong’s heart instantly twisted with concern, and he hurriedly yelled into the phone, ”Yingying, hang in there! As soon as it’s ready, I’ll rush back!”

After hanging up, Pan Yuanlong quickly found a waiter and made additional requests for the order.

This situation occasionally happened in the restaurant, and the waiter tactfully declined, ”Sorry, once an order is sent to the kitchen, they start preparing right away. It’s too late now.”

Pan Yuanlong, concerned for his wife, hastily said, ”If it’s too late, then I’ll add more dishes! Tell the kitchen to just include these fruits in the cooking!”

With a customer’s last-minute addition, the waiter could only hurriedly contact the order taker to notify the kitchen.

Fu Yu, opting for convenience, went ahead and started preparing the dishes as Zhao Meng suggested, using the same dishes as before.

However, the dough-making section was busy kneading dough and couldn’t spare time for fish cakes.

Fu Yu thought it might be best to make a pot of seafood porridge, which was not only tasty and easy to digest but also mild and appetizing, likely ideal for a pregnant woman to eat.

Zhang Jinyu brought over the ingredients, and Fu Yu prepared to start cooking.

Just as he poured oil into the pan, the order taker rushed into the kitchen.

Seeing Fu Yu handling the preparation, the order taker knew it was his order to handle.

He hurried over and said, ”Chef Fu, the customer wants to add dishes!”

Fu Yu was taken aback, ”Add dishes?”

The order taker repeated, ”The customer wants the fruits like oranges, hawthorns, and bananas to be made into dishes. The specifics are up to the kitchen.”

Before Fu Yu could respond, Sun Qingning, diligently practicing cutting, interjected, ”They want to add a fruit platter? Never heard of adding such things to seafood dishes! If they’re so creative, why not do it themselves? Crazy! Do they think the restaurant is their own?”

Zhang Jinyu couldn’t help but agree, ”Exactly! Does the customer think they’re so special? It’s easy for them to say, but how are we supposed to do it?”

Sun Qingning remarked to Fu Yu, ”Chef Fu, just say it’s not possible! Nobody can blame you! Eating out at a restaurant, either order from the menu or let the kitchen handle it, don’t make things complicated! Making a bunch of requests and expecting the kitchen to cater to them, do they think they’re a god?”

Working in the kitchen, dealing with such customers was the most annoying!

Coming to a restaurant, either order from the menu or let the kitchen handle it, stop making it complicated!

Making a bunch of requests and expecting the kitchen to cater to them, do they think they’re a god?

The order taker saw the kitchen staff starting to get agitated and quickly turned to Fu Yu and pleaded, ”Chef Fu, this customer’s wife is in labor, and the family is quite anxious. He also explained that his wife, due to severe morning sickness, has had no appetite. She enjoyed the restaurant’s seafood takeout once before, so they thought of ordering again today.”

The order taker could earn a commission on successful orders.

She had to persuade the kitchen to get the dish made quickly.

”Let’s treat it as a good deed, please help him out! You didn’t see it, but he was almost in tears while video calling his wife earlier! It seems she can’t eat anything, has no energy for labor, and the hospital is urging them to figure something out quickly!”

Although Fu Yu was initially a bit annoyed, hearing the order taker’s words made him somewhat understand the customer’s situation.

After all, he had experienced the same urgency when Zhao Meng fell ill, able to empathize deeply.

Fu Yu nodded, ”Alright, I’ll take this order!”

The order taker breathed a sigh of relief.

Fu Yu was always true to his word, so if he accepted the order, the takeout would be reliably done.

Sun Qingning was a bit disgruntled, chopping the ingredients noisily with his cleaver.

Zhang Jinyu, usually following Fu Yu’s lead, settled down once Fu Yu decided, waiting quietly for his tasks.
