The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 323: Chapter 322: Nothing to Worry About

Fu Yu was somewhat delighted to earn more goodwill points from Dai Jinghe.

He now vaguely understood the importance of goodwill points.

As the goodwill points increased, he clearly felt the kindness and care from others.

And all of these benefits definitely came from the goodwill points.

Besides that, he also received two skill points as a reward.

Fu Yu was thrilled and didn’t expect that a long-term task issued by Yao Shi could yield two skill points in one go.

And the task completion message said he had successfully entered the mainstream circle.

Does this sentence mean that he has successfully joined the social circle of Dai Jinghe and Liu Yunong?

Being able to make friends with famous chefs, that network was officially expanding.

Before parting, Liu Yunong suddenly instructed Fu Yu: ”I’ve asked someone to handle things here, and I need to go back for a bit tomorrow. It might take at least a week to get everything done. If there’s anything, feel free to call.”

Fu Yu nodded, watching Liu Yunong drive away into the distance.

When everyone else had left, Fu Yu bade farewell to Liu Changqing, who came out to see them off, and then took a cab home.

Back at Qianlima, it was just past eight o’clock.

Fu Yu immediately changed clothes and went to work in the kitchen.

During dinner time, business at the restaurant was quite good.

Once Fu Yu finished plating, Zhang Jinyu promptly brought the plates to the serving station with great understanding.

Just as he set it down, there was a sudden commotion at the corridor entrance leading to the dining area.

Soon, a middle-aged woman, visibly agitated, walked into the kitchen, followed by two wait staff.

The wait staff were trying hard to persuade her: ”This is the kitchen; customers are not allowed inside!”

The middle-aged woman angrily retorted: ”Why, do you have something to hide in your kitchen? Why can’t I come in?”

The wait staff, feeling a bit irritable too, couldn’t help but argue back: ”The kitchen is a cooking area. If everyone could just walk in, how could we ensure hygiene and order?”

The other wait staff spoke softly: ”Please cooperate with our restaurant’s rules. The kitchen is off-limits to outsiders. It’s a matter of hygiene and also that the chefs are working. If you come in, it will affect them, and it’s dangerous with all the open flames, hot oil or soup around.”

The middle-aged woman widened her eyes: ”Ah! If I don’t come in, how will I know if you’ve swapped my seafood? That hairy crab I picked was alive, but once cooked and served, who could tell if it’s the same one?”

Seeing the customer barging into the kitchen, Fu Yu hurriedly went to help but was stopped by Zhao Meng: ”You keep busy, I’ll go check it out!”

After saying that, Zhao Meng rushed over.

Fu Yu couldn’t just stand by, so he asked Zhang Jinyu to prepare the ingredients and followed Zhao Meng.

The wait staff were about to defend themselves but were interrupted by Zhao Meng.

Zhao Meng looked at the female customer and introduced himself: ”Hello, I’m the head chef here. If there’s an issue, you can talk to me.”

The female customer glared at Zhao Meng: ”You’re the head chef? Fine. I’ll watch you cook my seafood, then I’ll leave!”

The wait staff hurriedly said: ”That won’t do, it’s just not...”

Zhao Meng raised his hand to stop the wait staff from saying more and asked the female customer: ”You insisted on coming into the kitchen because you’re worried we might substitute the seafood you ordered, right?”

The female customer nodded: ”Obviously! I paid a high price for live seafood, and if you serve me dead or smaller seafood on the plate, what’s the point of me spending all that money?”

Zhao Meng said: ”I understand your concern, but I can assure you that our restaurant has been in business for over a hundred years, and we’ve always operated under the principle of honesty. Otherwise, we wouldn’t still be thriving today. We will certainly not substitute or downgrade your order, you can be sure of that!”

The middle-aged woman’s expression changed as she questioned: ”You speak nicely, but how can you guarantee it’ll actually happen? Once you swap my seafood, how am I supposed to find out? It all depends on what you say!”

Zhao Meng saw the middle-aged woman was getting angry, so he took a deep breath and patiently explained: ”All the ingredients we use are freshly sourced daily, and the seafood is guaranteed live and fresh. If you’re a frequent seafood eater, you’ll instantly know by taste if it’s fresh! Also, our cooking methods focus on retaining the original flavors, so we wouldn’t dare use inferior substitutes.”

After listening, the middle-aged woman glared at Zhao Meng for a while, then said: ”Alright, I want you to cook my order! I’ll tell you, if it’s not what I ordered, I won’t let you off easily!”

Once she finished, she turned around and left.

Everyone else was left looking at each other in confusion.

A server blinked: ”Is it over just like that?”

Zhao Meng reminded helplessly: ”Hurry up and follow her, make sure she doesn’t cause any more trouble in front!”

The server snapped out of it and quickly ran after her.

Zhao Meng then took a look at the order slip, which was a small banquet table with six dishes and a soup, including the restaurant’s signature seafood porridge.

But the most expensive dish on the list was the golden curry crab, four per plate.

Zhao Meng handed the slip to Fu Yu: ”Just make it as usual.”

Fu Yu took the order slip, smiling: ”I thought you might let her watch us cook in the kitchen.”

Zhao Meng said seriously: ”We absolutely cannot set such a precedent. Rules are rules. The fact that she barged into the kitchen shows she’s a bit extreme. If while we’re cooking, she suddenly causes a scene, it would be a greater loss!”

Fu Yu nodded, fully agreeing with Zhao Meng’s words.

He’s often seen on trending topics those incidents where patients harm doctors or parents harm teachers; who’s to say customers wouldn’t harm chefs?

If they really encounter someone hot-headed and unreasonable, and if they cause trouble here, the kitchen full of utensils could easily be turned into weapons, and it would be even harder to deal with!

Looking at that middle-aged woman, Fu Yu thought she didn’t seem easy to handle, so he was extra cautious while cooking.

He finished cooking all six dishes and the soup, watched the servers take them away, still feeling a bit uneasy.

He couldn’t help worrying about how to deal with it if that middle-aged woman found faults.

But once he got busy, he quickly forgot about it.

When clocking out, Fu Yu suddenly recalled the incident and couldn’t help but mention it to Zhao Meng.

Zhao Meng chuckled: ”There’s nothing to worry about. As long as we ensure the freshness of the ingredients and cook properly, there shouldn’t be any problems! If she really wants to make trouble, we’re not afraid. After all, we have surveillance here. If needed, we’ll just pull it out for evidence!”

Fu Yu thought about it and agreed. Besides having a lot of people, the restaurant’s full of cameras—all indoors except for the restrooms and changing rooms are covered without any blind spots.
