The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 341: Chapter 340: No More Ties Long Ago

The two sides exchanged a few simple pleasantries.

Suddenly, someone on Liu Yunpeng’s side interrupted and asked, ”Hey! Did you participate in the Gold Chef Competition the other day? Aren’t you the first prize winner?”

Fu Yu didn’t expect to be recognized and replied with a smile, ”Yes, that’s me.”

The person immediately got excited, ”Hey! It really is you! I thought you looked familiar!”

Seeing Fu Yu admit it, he happily turned to his companions and said, ”During the Sanjiang Tourism Festival cooking competition, he was the chef who made three kinds of duck dishes!”

The people at the same table turned to look at Fu Yu.

Liu Yunpeng introduced with a smile, ”We’re all in the same trade.”

He pointed to the person who recognized Fu Yu, and said, ”This is Han Dongzhi, the head chef of Old Shunrong Restaurant.”

Then he introduced the two sitting across from him: ”They usually work in other places and rarely come back, so it’s a gathering of old friends.”

Fu Yu quickly greeted with a smile, ”I work at Qianlima, nice to meet you all.”

During the chat, Fu Yu learned that on the day of the competition, Han Dongzhi took the time to visit the event.

Originally, he planned to admire the styles of several famous judges and cheer for Liu Yunpeng, but ended up being amazed by Fu Yu’s three duck deboning skills.

Han Dongzhi admired Fu Yu and said, ”Chef Fu, your cooking skills are incredible! When I was young, I worked at a roast duck shop, and deboning a duck is truly an art! I worked on cutting roast ducks for three years and never completely deboned a single duck skeleton!”

”Chef Fu, could you tell me, how did you learn to debone like that?”

Fu Yu was a bit embarrassed by the praise and said humbly, ”There’s no trick to deboning, you just have to practice with your hands. Anyone who puts in the effort can master it.”

Han Dongzhi nodded, acknowledging the lesson.

Indeed, unlike other skills, cooking doesn’t have shortcuts. To excel in any personal skill requires hard study and practice.

After some conversation, Han Dongzhi’s impression of Fu Yu improved.

He took the initiative to exchange contact information with Fu Yu.

Liu Yunpeng also took the opportunity to add Fu Yu on WeChat.

Lin Minghao listened to their conversation and only then realized that Fu Yu had won the Gold Chef Competition.

Although he was not from the culinary circle and didn’t know about the competition, just the name suggested it was impressive!

Fu Yu actually won first place in the competition!

He even outshone Chef Liu, who looked like a big-headed, thick-necked chef!

That’s amazing!

Lin Minghao felt proud of his brother!

And he made his brother his role model in his heart!

He decided to work hard so that during the national e-commerce live streaming competition, he could also strive to win a place!

...

Fu Yu initially planned to let Lin Minghao stay at Zhao Meng’s house for two more days, hoping to take a day off to show him around Bei’an.

However, Lin Minghao was eager to claim his spot in school and urged Fu Yu to pack up and go right after the meal.

Fu Yu couldn’t persuade him otherwise and had to join him to pack, taking a taxi to send Lin Minghao to school.

The two of them hauled their luggage and entered the campus of Qiming E-commerce Training School.

Fu Yu didn’t expect the school to be so big, even more impressive than City No. 1 Middle School.

A brand-new campus life was about to begin.

Lin Minghao appeared both excited and nervous.

He whispered to Fu Yu, ”Bro, when I came to register today, I noticed there were many online celebrities among the students.”

As a base specializing in cultivating live streaming talents, Qiming E-commerce Training School made Lin Minghao realize for the first time that people are insignificant not only in the vast world but even more so in a talented campus, giving a sense of being a small pebble in a great ocean.

Fu Yu glanced at the campus buildings and casually said, ”So what, you’ll be even more famous than them one day!”

Lin Minghao chuckled.

Now, he had officially stepped into the campus of Qiming E-commerce Training School and joined the army of live streamers.

However, he did not share the others’ leisurely attitude but felt full of anxiety.

He wondered if the path he chose would really be as wonderful as he expected.

The school’s vast beauty and the smooth process of moving into the dormitory exceeded Fu Yu’s expectations.

The floor manager and janitorial staff warmly helped them complete all the check-in procedures in less than ten minutes.

After settling his luggage, Lin Minghao insisted on seeing Fu Yu off to the school gate.

Just as Fu Yu hailed a taxi to leave, Lin Minghao suddenly said, ”Bro, thank you!”

Fu Yu paused at the car door and turned back with a smile, ”We’re family, no need to be polite with me.”

As the taxi drove a distance, Fu Yu could still see Lin Minghao standing there watching him leave.

...

Fu Yu specifically told the taxi to stop at the side door of Qianlima.

He had wanted to use the restroom when he got in the taxi but held it in until now.

Finally, he reached his destination.

He rushed to the restroom and happened to run into Sun Qingning coming towards him at a jog.

Seeing Fu Yu, Sun Qingning hurried over, ”Chef Fu! You’re back!”

Fu Yu waved with a smile, ”Let’s chat later; I need to use the restroom first.”

Sun Qingning quickly said, ”The restroom is backed up again! They’ve contacted the plumber, but he hasn’t arrived yet, so the janitor locked the door.”

Fu Yu couldn’t help but complain, ”Can’t the plumbing be fixed once and for all?”

Sun Qingning agreed, ”Exactly, let’s go to the restroom up front.”

It was peak meal time, and the front hall was crowded, so they headed straight to the second-floor restroom for staff.

Fu Yu casually asked, ”Is there anything happening in the back kitchen?”

Sun Qingning replied, ”Not really, although a friend of Chef Zhao’s just came by, and he went to the front to see them.”

Fu Yu was curious, ”Really? A man or a woman?”

Sun Qingning shook his head, ”No idea, I just overheard Chef Zhao mentioning it to Chef Yao, but he didn’t elaborate.”

They reached the second-floor restroom.

Someone was using the urinal, seemingly a customer who opted not to use the crowded front restroom and found this one instead.

Fu Yu, anxious to relieve himself and familiar with the surroundings, temporarily forgot he was in casual clothes and instinctively entered a stall.

The restaurant had a rule prohibiting kitchen staff from using the front hall restrooms.

In special cases, they had to avoid customers.

Still in his work clothes, Sun Qingning also chose to use a stall, despite it being the staff restroom, to avoid doing so in front of a customer.

Aware someone was outside, neither spoke.

Fu Yu had just finished when he heard someone else enter, followed by a male voice:

”Hey! Old Zhao, I can’t believe I just ran into Li Dan!”

Zhao Meng’s voice immediately followed, ”No worries, just have your reunion; I’m busy in the kitchen anyway. I just came over to say hi.”

”You and Li Dan...”

Zhao Meng replied, ”We’ve been divorced for almost ten years, so there’s nothing between us.”

Fu Yu: ”!”
