The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 339: Chapter 338: Reunion of Schoolmates

Fu Yu took Lin Minghao to buy some daily necessities, including a single set of bed sheets and bedding.

The two emerged from the supermarket, their arms full of bags. Lin Minghao’s phone suddenly rang.

He answered the call, exchanged a few words, and then abruptly turned to Fu Yu and asked, ”Bro, what’s your master’s home address? The courier needs to deliver something.”

Fu Yu was taken aback, ”Courier?”

Lin Minghao laughed, ”My mom sent something for you. Originally, she wanted me to bring it, but there was too much luggage, so we had it couriered instead.”

Fu Yu gave Zhao Meng’s address to Lin Minghao.

The two first took their purchases upstairs and then came down again to receive the delivery.

A huge cardboard box, heavy, full of things for Fu Yu.

Food, useful items, and local specialties like mixed noodles and spicy hot pot.

Lin Minghao said, ”My mom specially ordered this for you from Changxing and Da Wan. She said there are plenty of tasty things here, and you probably never lack good food. But these are the specialties from our hometown that you can’t find here. Over time, you’ll surely crave them, so she ordered extra for you.”

Now very close to Fu Yu, Lin Minghao spoke without reservation, saying whatever came to mind.

Fu Yu felt warmth in his heart and said, ”Aunt truly thought of me. I haven’t had these for half a year and really missed them. I thought I’d have to wait until New Year to eat these. This is great.”

Only family would think so thoroughly.

Fu Yu busily helped settle Lin Minghao in and took him to Lao Liu’s Barbecue in a side street for a hearty meal, leaving them happily full.

Lin Minghao had to report to Qiming E-commerce Training School the next day.

But Fu Yu couldn’t send him off because he had to go enroll in a beginner exam training class at a culinary school.

That night, after returning, Fu Yu specially called home.

He detailed the entire process of hosting Lin Minghao to his mom, including treating him to a meal and receiving the thoughtful package from his aunt.

His mom was quite pleased.

Elders seem very delighted to see the younger generation getting along well, full of brotherly love and respect.

Seeing his mom happy, Fu Yu thought that since Lin Minghao came over, he should take care of him more in the future.

After all, they’re family.

The next morning.

Fu Yu got up early, washed up meticulously, and changed into another set of brand-name business casual wear.

Previously, he had spent thousands on these two suits, and would wear them whenever there was a formal occasion.

Anyway, men’s clothing is generally quite similar, suitable for wear in any season.

A year after graduation, returning to the school felt peculiar.

Walking on the familiar campus, seeing the young students passing by occasionally, for a moment, there was an illusion of being back in school days.

First, he went to the academic office to handle the beginner exam application procedures.

The dean saw him and surprisingly remembered, smiling as he asked, ”Fu Yu, right? How’s work going now?”

Fu Yu was quite the figure when in school, having good culinary skills, being handsome, and polite.

He was popular among teachers and students.

If not, the school wouldn’t have assigned him an internship opportunity at Qianlima after graduation.

With teachers he knew, Fu Yu smoothly completed the procedures in no time.

Leaving the teaching building, Fu Yu checked the time; it was just half-past ten.

He guessed that Lin Minghao hadn’t finished his business yet.

He thought about inviting Lin Minghao to lunch for some Erlcheng hot pot.

With his brother visiting, he, as the elder sibling, must treat him well.

Fu Yu had planned to take Lin Minghao for several good meals in Bei’an over the next few days. After school started, they would both be busy, and finding time to meet could be difficult.

His finances were comfortable now, and spending money on family felt worthwhile.

He avoided calling, worried that Lin Minghao might be too busy to answer, so he sent a message instead, asking him to call back when free.

Preoccupied with typing, Fu Yu didn’t notice the path as someone came hurriedly around a corner, and they bumped arms hard.

Fu Yu almost dropped his phone, quickly grasping it, apologizing repeatedly, ”Sorry, I wasn’t watching where... Oh! Fengzi!”

”No worries, it’s my fault... Hey! Fu Yu!!”

Li Linfeng looked up, saw Fu Yu, first stunned, then laughed.

The two exchanged greetings, both surprised to see each other here.

Li Linfeng curiously asked, ”Fu Yu, what brings you back to school? Business?”

Fu Yu explained, ”Isn’t it about applying for the certification exam? I’m planning to apply for the beginner level this year.”

Li Linfeng was somewhat surprised, ”Applying for the beginner level? Isn’t your work experience not enough?”

They were classmates just a year after graduation, lacking the two years of industry experience needed.

Fu Yu blinked, casually making up an excuse, ”Oh, I started my internship months earlier than you guys. Counting from the store’s perspective, it’s just two years.”

Since being reminded by Zhao Meng for candid talk in front of Dai Li before, Fu Yu became more cautious.

Unless with those closest to him, he remained careful.

It wasn’t about being sincere or not.

He understood the importance of watching one’s words.

Luckily, Li Linfeng was just casually asking.

During culinary school, Fu Yu and Li Linfeng were classmates, though not roommates, they often hung out for meals and study, getting along well.

Fu Yu was also curious about what brought Li Linfeng back to school.

Before he could ask, Li Linfeng said, ”I’m teaching here now, but only as an assistant. Once I gain more experience, I’ll apply for a formal position.”

Fu Yu said, ”That’s impressive! Landing a position at the school is quite an achievement.”

Li Linfeng laughed, ”Not bad, my family helped. At graduation, it was tough finding a suitable job....”

”By the way, the training class should start soon, right? What’s the date?”

Fu Yu handed him the schedule, ”Registration is Friday, formal classes start next Monday.”

Remembering something, Li Linfeng said, ”That’s great! Don’t leave after registration on Friday. In the afternoon, there’ll be a school anniversary event! I heard some outstanding alumni will be invited, and maybe even two renowned chefs for a lecture!”

Outstanding alumni from previous classes?

Fu Yu didn’t know any.

As for the chef’s lecture,

it seemed irrelevant to him.

Fu Yu wasn’t particularly interested.
