Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2300: Chapter 2293: Led Around in Circles

Yan Huan is most afraid of Feng Yuzhi’s tears. Seeing her cry, Yan Huan hurriedly comforted her, ”What strange illness do I have? At worst, I’ll never leave Nancheng in my life! Don’t cry, it’s not your fault! Not your fault!”

”You’re driving me to distraction, mom! I can’t rest in peace until your marriage is settled.”

”Mom, stop talking about life and death all day long. I promise I’ll resolve it quickly, okay?”

”Okay. Then find time for a date with Ji Chuan.”

”Okay, okay, okay! I promise, alright?”

”I don’t believe you.” Feng Yuzhi had been tricked by this daughter so many times that she was already half-skeptical of her words.

”Then what do you want me to do? Do I have to write a military pledge?” Yan Huan said helplessly.

”No need. I have my ways to deal with you.” Feng Yuzhi puffed out her chest, brimming with confidence.

”Hey! Comrade Feng, don’t go too far! You’re acting like you’re in some underground operation! Are you fighting guerrilla warfare? You’re always so elusive! I’m seriously doubting if your ancestors were really from a scholarly family?” Yan Huan complained to her mother.

”I’m running around like a madwoman every day, isn’t it all for you? Ah! Do you think I don’t want to be a bit more graceful? But with a daughter like you, I can’t even try to be graceful!” Feng Yuzhi said exasperatedly.

”Comrade Feng, I’m sorry! I’ll make sure you worry less about me in the future.” Yan Huan’s eyes got a little wet as she hugged Feng Yuzhi, ”I’m already thirty, don’t you think you should set me free? Don’t worry so much, you know your daughter, right? Please, don’t interfere with things between Cheng Yue and me, alright? Hmm? Alright?”

”No way.” Feng Yuzhi said with a stern face, ”I absolutely won’t allow you to make the same mistakes again.”

”Oh, Feng... please, okay? Hmm? Let me hug you, hug you...” Yan Huan hugged Feng Yuzhi and showered her face with kisses, drawing glances from passers-by.

”Enough, enough...” Feng Yuzhi couldn’t hold it in anymore and a smile appeared in her eyes, ”You’re over thirty and still acting all childish, isn’t it embarrassing?”

”Then promise me! Promise me!” Yan Huan played the child card, which was most effective with Feng Yuzhi.

”Don’t call me old Feng anymore!”

”Okay.”

”Also... promise me you won’t let yourself get hurt again!”

”Okay!” Yan Huan agreed cheerfully, ”Mom, you should relax, my sister-in-law is about to give birth. Just look forward to going home and holding your grandchild!”

”Oh, isn’t that the truth? I do have quite a lot to worry about.”

”In that case, hurry home, I’m heading back to the troops. Goodbye, mom!” Yan Huan swiftly dealt with Comrade Feng and skipped away.

Feng Yuzhi walked to catch a ride, feeling more confused with each step. She was clearly supposed to help her daughter Yan Huan go on a blind date, so how did she end up agreeing to not interfere at all?

Once again, she’d been swayed by that girl.

Cheng Yue stood alone in the wooden corridor for ages. Though it was clearly March, he felt a chill wash over him.

It seemed his path with Yan Huan was going to be a long one. That one wrong choice meant he had to work harder than others.

Thinking about how his rival in love was Ji Chuan, Cheng Yue felt the path become even more difficult.
