Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2296: Chapter 2289: I’m Serious

Since Yan Huan couldn’t leave, she might as well chat with Ji Chuan.

They ended up talking for over half an hour, with Ji Chuan doing most of the talking and her listening.

She found out that Ji Chuan was truly knowledgeable, with a vast understanding of astronomy and geography.

”You really are a genius,” Yan Huan sincerely praised, ”I just don’t get it. You’re handsome, earn a high salary, and are the pride of the army hospital. How come you haven’t found a partner at your age?”

Ji Chuan, fiddling with his pen using his slender fingers, smiled at her words and said, ”Because you and I are similar! Yan Huan, I really admire your attitude towards love! You don’t settle, and neither do I! But now, I’ve found someone I like, so why don’t we give it a try?”

”Are you serious?” Yan Huan asked Ji Chuan, putting away her playful demeanor.

”Yes. I’m serious,” Ji Chuan responded without hesitation. He had long understood Yan Huan’s stance, which was why he never had a serious conversation with her before.

As Yan Huan was finally willing to address this topic, Ji Chuan decided to give a sincere response.

”I’m sorry! I already have someone in my heart, so I can’t allow anyone else in,” Yan Huan looked earnestly at Ji Chuan, ”I can’t be with you while having someone else in my heart. That wouldn’t be fair to you! So, don’t hold any hope for me.”

”I don’t mind. I can take it slow and wait for you to forget about him!” Ji Chuan, being older and having seen a lot of relationships, replied.

Just like Yan Ye’s feelings towards his young apprentice.

He liked An Hao so much, yet persisted without crossing the line.

That waiting, while painful, was also beautiful.

In the end, didn’t he also find his love that way?

He felt that encountering this passionate girl was like the burning sun of summer, causing his heart to instantly surrender.

He thought he could wait.

”Ji Chuan, you know, I’ve waited for him for four years. I thought I’d spend my whole life waiting, but then he appeared,” Yan Huan tried to convince herself to forget him, but found herself unable to do so.

She could avoid interacting with him and choose to ignore him, but couldn’t lie to her own heart.

”So what?” Ji Chuan slowly stood up, placing his hands on the table between them, leaning closer to Yan Huan, ”Do you remember the first time we met? You were drunk, hugged me, and left a fiery kiss on my cheek... What did you say back then?”

As the embarrassing incident from years past was brought up again, Yan Huan’s face flushed deep red, darker than the color of liver, ”That... that was a misunderstanding.”

”Misunderstanding or not, I don’t care. Yan Huan, I’m waiting for you to take the first step. As long as you dare to take the first step, I’ll complete the other ninety-nine unwaveringly!” Ji Chuan gazed at her, speaking those words in a steady and slow manner.

”Don’t... don’t scare me like this, okay?” Yan Huan stammered. In her entire life, besides that little rascal Cheng Yue, this was the first time she’d been confessed to so deeply.

No, no! She wasn’t used to this...

”I’m not trying to scare you. I’m serious. You can think about it. Or, you could stand still and wait for me to come to you!”
