Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2289: Chapter 2282: Kindness Greater Than Mountains

”Mm-hmm! I understand now.” Ning Chenguang nodded in agreement, but at this moment, he was too happy to eat. He just snuggled in An Hao’s arms, acting spoiled.

Guests are always welcome.

He Fusheng didn’t finish his meal and put it aside, asking his wife to put it away, then brewed a pot of tea and placed it in the middle of the table.

”Come, sit down! Everyone come and have some tea!” He Fusheng invited Qin Jian and his wife, ”We mountain folk don’t have much good food and drink, my tea can’t compare to what you usually have, but it still has some flavor.”

”Big brother, you don’t need to fuss about! We’re here to take the child, and also to express our gratitude to your whole family!” Qin Jian finished speaking and called out to Xiaozhou, ”Bring everything over!”

Xiaozhou, who was standing in the yard, heard his superior call him and quickly started moving the prepared items into the house.

He Fusheng kept saying, ”That’s not necessary! That’s not necessary!”

”There’s nothing unnecessary about it, this is just a small token from us! You must accept it. They say great acts of kindness don’t require thanks, but we still want to thank you. Without you, there would be no Chenguang today. Your kindness is as high as the mountain, as deep as the sea! We must repay you!” An Hao got up and helped move the items into the house.

”No, no. It’s just a small effort, how can we accept your things? I disagree!” Liang Xiuzhu was of one mind with her husband. She believed that helping others was a matter of course and never expected anything in return.

”Sister-in-law!” An Hao stopped Liang Xiuzhu and said, ”We will remember your kindness for a lifetime. But you must accept these items. Guangguang stayed here for so long, and all his food, drink, and expenses cost something. You aren’t wealthy; I saw Brother He giving the good food to the child during meals while he ate pickles. It makes us feel really bad.”

”This is how everyone in our village lives. We can’t accept these things!” Liang Xiuzhu was adamant about not accepting.

And so, a bunch of people pushed and pulled for quite a while.

Finally, An Hao, helpless, could only say, ”Please accept these things! Qin Jian and I truly find your hearts to be very kind and good, and we intend to treat you like our own elder brother and sister in the future! If you think it’s too much, don’t worry, when you harvest in the fall, maybe you could send us some wild fruits from the mountains! Would that be alright?”

At this point, He Fusheng felt that not accepting would make the situation awkward.

Ning Chenguang’s parents seemed very sincere, so they stopped insisting and accepted the items: ”Alright. We’ll take these. If we find any rare things in the mountains, I’ll bring them to you.”

”Great! That sounds wonderful.” An Hao seized the opportunity to take out money and handed it to Liang Xiuzhu, ”Sister-in-law! Please keep this money...”

Before she could finish her sentence, Liang Xiuzhu blocked it, ”Don’t bring up money! We absolutely won’t accept it! If you do this, we will truly get angry!”

An Hao looked at Qin Jian with difficulty, and Qin Jian nodded, ”Take it back! If big brother and sister-in-law don’t want it, just let it be.”

”Alright then.” An Hao had to put the money back.

Tons of gratitude had been expressed, and He Fusheng also introduced the child’s situation in general. As the sun was about to set, Qin Jian and An Hao were about to leave with the child.

At this time, He Yue, who hadn’t spoken, pouted and slowly walked up to Ning Chenguang.
