Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 439: Chapter 439: Hurry Up and Have a Grandson

The living room was festively decorated, with large red ”happiness” characters pasted on the wall. Ning Yibin and Zhang Yun sat on the couch with beaming smiles, watching their tall and handsome son walk in with his bride, who was more delicate than a flower, both of them exchanging a smile.

As a man past fifty, Ning Yibin was very composed. Although he was very happy on his son’s wedding day, the expression on his face remained a gentle smile.

Zhang Yun, on the other hand, couldn’t stop grinning joyfully as she watched the newlyweds in front of her.

Qin Jian gently set An Hao down, and she offered tea to Ning Yibin and his wife amidst the laughter of everyone present, changing her address to them: ”Dad, Mom!”

This address as ’Dad’ and ’Mom’ made Ning Yibin and his wife beam with joy, and they quickly handed An Hao a red envelope.

An Hao, smiling brightly, accepted the red envelope and thanked her in-laws.

”No need to thank us! From now on, we’re all family!” Zhang Yun’s heart grew fonder of her daughter-in-law as she looked at her, ”As long as you two live well together, cherishing a peaceful and loving life, your father and I will be happy.”

Ning Yibin nodded with a smile and said to Qin Jian, ”An Hao is your wife now, you must treat her well and cherish her!”

”I know, Mom and Dad, don’t worry...”

Before Qin Jian could finish his sentence, Commander Zhang, who stood by the side, chimed in, grinning, ”Chief, rest assured! Qin Jian has always been good in this regard.”

”Doesn’t that mean he’s inherited your strength, Old Ning? Cherishing his wife!” Yan Luquan teased from the side with a laugh.

”Old Yan, don’t you cherish your wife?” Ning Yibin asked with a smile in return.

”Cherish... cherish...” Yan Luquan laughed heartily, and then deftly turned the conversation back to the newlyweds, ”Old Ning, the kids have just gotten married, aren’t you going to say a few words?”

”I’ve already said what needs to be said on normal days, so I won’t say it today. As long as the kids are happy, that’s good,” Ning Yibin waved his hand and replied.

”Actually, I do have something to say,” Zhang Yun addressed her son and daughter-in-law, ”There’s nothing much to say, just one thing, set aside all the less important stuff for now, the most pressing matter is to hurry up and give me a grandson!”

”Excellent! Well said!” As soon as Yan Luquan led the way, everyone in the room broke into applause.

An Hao blushed under everyone’s gaze and lowered her head with a smile.

After serving the tea and addressing them as ’Dad’ and ’Mom,’ the couple was escorted into their bridal chamber.

The bridal chamber was on the second floor; upon opening the door, they were greeted by a series of new furniture, the walls adorned with large red ”happiness” characters, and over the head of the bed hung the couple’s wedding photos. The soft and neatly made bed was covered with four quilts made of red satin, and there was a large scattering of peanuts and dates on it, symbolizing the wish for an early birth of a precious son.

An Hao thought that once she reached the bridal chamber, the wedding would come to an end, but she had no idea that everything was far from over.

Qin Jian’s subordinates were as excited as if they had been injected with chicken blood, coming up with various ideas to tease her and Qin Jian.

Couples biting an apple together, mouth-to-mouth feeding of candy, and even someone came up with the rotten idea that they should perform the wedding ritual of drinking from the same cup.

Qin Jian, usually cold and stern, had strict demands on his soldiers, and hardly anyone dared to joke with him.

Today was the day he took a wife, and everyone took the opportunity knowing he wouldn’t get angry, conjuring up a multitude of ways to tease him.

Qin Jian cooperated very well—just biting an apple took no less than fifty attempts, and the pair kissed countless times before the watchful eyes of all present.

The day exhausted An Hao; after a lively and bustling day, it finally came to evening.
