Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 434: Chapter 434: Beating You Until Your Face Blooms Like Peach Blossoms

She cooped herself up in the house all morning without leaving, and Zhang Juyun didn’t know what was wrong with Song Yueqin this time. Unable to bear it anymore, she gave Yueqin two yuan and told her to go to An Shuchao’s greenhouse to buy some vegetables.

Initially, Song Yueqin didn’t want to go, but if she didn’t, she’d have to eat radish strips for lunch again, which she was utterly sick of. So, she took the money and left.

After the land was assigned to each household, it turned out that her land was next to An Hao’s greenhouse. When she reached the end of the field, she saw a girl bending over at the waist, pulling out the wheat seedlings from her land.

She hurried over and shouted, ”Hey, what are you doing? How can you just pull out the wheat seedlings from someone else’s field?”

”Wheat seedlings?” Gu Shuangshuang, looking at what appeared to be chives in her hand, was on the verge of crying at her own stupidity, ”That’s what I thought! Your wheat seedlings look so much like chives, I couldn’t tell the difference. So, I thought I would pull one up and check the roots to tell them apart.”

”Are you stupid? Can’t you tell the difference between wheat seedlings and chives?” Song Yueqin glared and scolded Gu Shuangshuang.

”Who are you calling stupid?” Gu Shuangshuang threw the wheat seedlings away, wiped her hands, and glared back at Song Yueqin, ”Do you even know how to speak properly?”

”I’m calling you stupid! If you can’t tell the difference between chives and wheat seedlings, what are you if not stupid? Even the dogs in our village can tell them apart, and you can’t!” Song Yuqin’s words were hurtful.

”Curse me one more time!” Gu Shuangshuang, not someone to be trifled with, rolled up her sleeves and stared down Song Yuqin before grabbing her by the hair, ”Did I provoke you? You curse me worse than a dog! Apologize to me! Otherwise, I’ll beat you until even you won’t recognize yourself!”

”You’re not from our village, are you? Who do you think you are, acting so arrogant here? Let me tell you, I’m in a bad mood, so you better let go! Otherwise, it’s not over between us!” Song Yueqin, clutching her own hair, not only refused to apologize but hollered back at Gu Shuangshuang with brash arrogance.

”I don’t care if you’re in a bad mood because I’m in a bad mood too. I’ll give you one more chance to apologize, or I’ll slap your face until it blossoms like a peach!” Gu Shuangshuang was ready to stand her ground.

”I won’t!” She couldn’t handle others, but couldn’t she handle an outsider?

With that, Song Yueqin stretched out her hand and pinched Gu Shuangshuang’s waist.

A sharp pain struck, and Gu Shuangshuang was enraged. She swung her hand and slapped Song Yueqin across the face, then kicked her, sending her sprawling to the ground at the edge of the field.

An Hao, picking vegetables in the greenhouse, heard the commotion outside and quickly ran out, only to see Gu Shuangshuang and Song Yueqin fighting.

She rushed over to pull them apart, angrily staring at Song Yueqin: ”Why are you involved in everything? Can you really get into a fight with anyone?”

”An Hao, who do you think you are? My life used to be so good. It’s all because of you, you turned my life upside down! If it wasn’t for you, how would I end up farming in this village and behaving like a shrew?” Song Yueqin looked resentfully at An Hao, dressed so well while she felt her own life regressing.

”You’re aware that you’re acting like a shrew! This is all the consequence of your own actions!” An Hao said coldly.

”Exactly!” Gu Shuangshuang, rubbing her sore hand, shouted angrily.

An Hao turned to look at Gu Shuangshuang and asked, ”How are you? What happened to start the fight?”

”I’m alright.” Gu Shuangshuang pointed at the wheat seedlings on the ground and said, ”Look at her wheat seedlings, so sparse and tall, they looked like newly sprouted chives. And there’s only this small patch. Now look at other people’s wheat seedlings, instantly recognizable. I just wanted to pull one up to check the roots. And she came up cursing! Tell me, doesn’t she deserve a beating?”
