Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 422: Chapter 422: Can’t Communicate with a Stubborn Donkey.

”Advance? How can it be advanced?”

”That day, Zhang Lanxiang told me we could alter An Hao’s date of birth on the household registration.”

Before Zhang Yun could finish, Ning Yibin cut her off with a sentence, ”Isn’t that deceiving the state? If we can’t have the wedding this year, we can do it next year! An Hao has summer and winter breaks, and Qin Jian has family visit leave! How can it be impossible to wait?”

”I just can’t communicate with a stubborn old mule like you!” Zhang Yun also got irritated, ”Now that they’re married, they can enjoy some sweet time together during the vacation. What if An Hao gets pregnant after Qin Jian goes to the Northwest? By then, both you and I can happily expect a grandson. What if your son gets busy next year? Do you think being married to a military man is easy? Without spending much time together, how is An Hao supposed to get pregnant? It’ll be five years before she graduates! Will your body still be able to handle a grandchild by then?”

”Are you cursing me?” Ning Yibin glared, ”Five years from now, I’ll still be in great shape!”

”In great shape my foot!” Zhang Yun realized she simply couldn’t communicate with him and threw her apron on the sofa before heading upstairs.

Watching his wife’s angry departure, Ning Yibin fell into contemplation.

In the kitchen, An Hao was busily chopping vegetables.

Zhang Yun said the old chief liked sweet and sour shredded potatoes, which happened to be An Hao’s specialty.

Her knife skills were excellent, she chopped quickly, and the strips came out long and even.

Seeking to display her perfect culinary skills, she focused entirely on her cooking.

Suddenly, a pair of strong hands encircled her waist from behind; An Hao got startled, about to react when that sturdy body hugged her tightly.

”Qin Jian... I can hardly breathe with you squeezing me like this,” An Hao gasped out.

”Let me hold you tightly for a moment,” Qin Jian said, burying his head in her shoulder.

Her body was soft and carried the faint, fresh scent unique to young girls, inciting waves of longing in Qin Jian.

An Hao sensed the ticklish feeling behind her and immediately knew what it meant.

When Qin Jian finally released An Hao, she turned and saw his eyes, her face and heart flushing with embarrassment, ”Aren’t you afraid Auntie might come in and see? It wouldn’t be good to be seen.”

”I’m not scared,” Qin Jian lifted his hand to stroke her hair, ”Besides, you’re already my wife! What’s wrong with a husband hugging his own wife?”

An Hao’s face turned even redder at his bold sweet talk, ”Qin Jian, I’ve realized that you’ve become truly shameless. So unserious!”

”Is this what you call unserious?” Qin Jian laughed a couple of times, ”Sooner or later, you’re going to be my wife!”

”At least I’m not right now,” An Hao paused, then added, ”Ah, I was born too late.”

”No, not at all too late,” Qin Jian said with a smile in his eyes, ”An Hao, I have enough patience to wait for you to grow up! Until the day you marry me.”

”Mhm,” An Hao lowered her head, her lips curling into a sweet smile.

Observing his future wife’s happy expression at that moment, Qin Jian found himself at a loss for words.

Even if it was hard to say, some things still needed to be said; she had to know about it sooner or later.

”An Hao...”

”Hm?”

”There’s something I need to tell you.”

”Go ahead.”

Qin Jian was silent for two seconds before he slowly began, ”After the new year, my unit will be disbanded. I’ll be transferred to the Northwest region.”

”What did you say...” An Hao was stunned, the light in her eyes suddenly scattering, sorrow sweeping in, replacing the initial excitement and shyness, ”Does this mean we’re going to be worlds apart?”
