Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 423: Chapter 423 I Don’t Want You to Go at All

”This is only temporary. We still have a long life ahead of us, once you graduate you can come to the Northwest to find me,” Qin Jian whispered.

An Hao’s eyes gradually turned red, but she didn’t speak and turned around to start cooking, ”Wait for me outside, I’ll finish cooking first.”

Looking at An Hao’s petite figure, Qin Jian felt a heavy sense of blockage in his heart.

But he was a soldier.

The duty of a soldier is to obey orders!

An Hao quickly stir-fried the vegetables, tears rolling down her cheeks.

Was Heaven playing tricks on them?

In their previous life, it was so easy for her and Qin Jian to come together; the only issue was that their marital relationship was not harmonious.

In this life, why was it so difficult for them to be together when she met Qin Jian so early and they loved each other so deeply?

Maybe, this was the price of rebirth?

There’s no such thing as a free lunch, right?

Or perhaps her series of actions had changed their original trajectory, preventing history from repeating itself and propelling it in a new direction.

An Hao finished cooking, but the atmosphere, which should have been cheerful, was somewhat unhappy due to this demobilization.

At the dining table, for the first time, Qin Jian had no appetite. Facing the delicious meal, he found he couldn’t eat a bite.

Ning Yibin, wanting An Hao to feel more at ease and happy during her first visit home, kept talking about the fun things in the army. An Hao smiled, but the smile didn’t reach the bottom of her eyes.

After finally finishing the meal, An Hao suggested that it was time for her to go back.

Zhang Yun knew An Hao was upset; after all, her relationship with Qin Jian was no secret. It would be a lie to say she wasn’t sad.

”Jianzi, go and see An Hao off.”

”Okay,” Qin Jian nodded in agreement.

”An Hao is going back to the village tomorrow, right? We’ll go with you to see her off. After all, we’re engaged, and we’ve never formally visited our future in-laws. It’s a good opportunity to visit them tomorrow!” This was something Zhang Yun and Ning Yibin had discussed.

Qin Jian nodded.

As the two of them stepped outside, small snowflakes were floating down from the sky.

A thin layer of snow already covered the ground. Qin Jian took a deep breath of the fresh air and hurriedly caught up with An Hao, ”Look, it’s snowing. I remember you once said you loved the snow in winter.”

An Hao stopped but did not speak.

Seeing her silent, Qin Jian smiled and looked down at her face.

He hadn’t expected to see An Hao’s eyes brimming with tears, her lower lip bitten tightly.

”You’re crying,” Qin Jian raised his hand to wipe away the tears spilling from the corners of her eyes.

An Hao grabbed his hand and buried her face deeply in his chest, ”Qin Jian, I don’t want you to go! I don’t want to at all.”

A pain struck Qin Jian’s heart, and he silently embraced An Hao, ”An Hao, I am a soldier! The prime duty of a soldier is to obey orders! Wherever the country sends me, that’s where I must serve. I know you’re upset, and I hate to leave you too.”

An Hao’s tears continuously overflowed, wetting Qin Jian’s clothes.

He was leaving now and who knew how long it would be before he could return. She also didn’t know how long it would be before she could visit him.

Beyond the full sense of reluctance, she was also helpless.

Qin Jian watched An Hao cry, his hand gently stroking her hair, ”Don’t cry. I will come to see you when I have time. When your birthday comes, we’ll get married.”

An Hao let go of Qin Jian, looked up at him.
