Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 406: Chapter 406 I Don’t Like You at All

Zhang Yun’s heart skipped a beat—Feng Yuzhi really did harbor such thoughts.

She couldn’t make decisions for her son!

Besides, her son had made it clear; he wanted his little wife, and she certainly couldn’t become that wicked mother-in-law who would break up the couple, could she?

”Yuzhi, Qin Jian is already betrothed! We found him after he was engaged! This can’t be taken back! Moreover, Qin Jian also likes An Hao very much! I’ve mentioned this before to him and he denied it!”

”Ah? That’s really a pity... If it weren’t for Ning Bo, Huanhuan wouldn’t have been delayed for so long!” Feng Yuzhi was full of reluctance, ”Sister-in-law, it’s not that I want to stir things up, but think about it, a daughter-in-law from that village just doesn’t match our family! In the future, it will be difficult for you to get along with her! You’ve seen Huanhuan grow up, and our two families are very close. If we became relatives by marriage, wouldn’t things be better in the future?”

”It would be good to become relatives by marriage, but Jianzi likes An Hao, and our wishful thinking is useless—we have to consider the child’s feelings.”

”Sister-in-law, leave this matter to me, I’ll have a talk with Qin Jian after dinner.”

Qin Jian and Yan Huan went to buy salt and had quite an unpleasant time along the way.

Yan Huan was just looking for an excuse to talk more with Qin Jian, but he kept a cold face throughout.

On the way back, she gave Qin Jian an extensive talk and even bashfully confessed her feelings to him in the end.

You have to know, despite her audacity and assertiveness, she’s still a girl, and it took her a lot of courage to speak up.

But this guy responded with just one sentence, incredibly direct, incredibly sharp, and incredibly hurtful to her heart: ”Sorry, I don’t like you at all! I am a man with a fiancée!”

Yan Huan was deeply hurt by Qin Jian’s words! She was on the verge of tears!

Her unhappiness made the atmosphere at the dinner table very somber.

Feng Yuzhi was anxious for her daughter; there were some things men couldn’t say, so as a mother, she had to step forward.

The dinner was prepared lavishly, and Feng Yuzhi brought out her specialty dish—braised pork.

She carefully picked up a piece of meat with her chopsticks and placed it in Qin Jian’s bowl: ”Here, eat more! My cooking is definitely delicious! I heard from Yan Huan that the food in the army is so bad that you all have lost weight, you really save us from worry. However, her cooking skills are not up to par! In the future, if you can’t eat well, just come over to your aunt’s house.”

”Thank you,” Qin Jian sat upright, took a bite of the meat with his chopsticks, and nodded: ”Auntie is a good cook!”

”That’s because, your aunt’s braised pork is unmatched! Qin Jian, you should come over to Uncle Yan’s house more often in the future!” Yan Luquan said.

”Yes, come and visit more! Huanhuan, especially, really admires you,” Feng Yuzhi said with a smile.

”Alright. I’ll definitely visit when I have the chance,” Qin Jian nodded slightly and continued to focus on eating.

”Um... Qin Jian,” seeing his indifferent attitude, Feng Yuzhi felt reluctant and continued, ”What do you think about Yan Huan?”

By now, everyone understood the implication of these words.

Qin Jian’s heart was even clearer, like a pristine mirror: ”She’s fine! A fine soldier!”

”Then could you guide her more in the future?” Feng Yuzhi was getting tired from talking to Qin Jian, seeing that he understood but pretended not to, her heart started to get anxious, ”Qin Jian, let’s be clear, Huanhuan really likes you! What do you think?”
