Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 402: Chapter 402: Awarded the Rank of Lieutenant Colonel

Given the circumstances, Qin Jian didn’t say much.

He went straight back home, where Zhang Yun diligently prepared chicken stews and tonic soups every day to replenish his health.

After a good half a month, Qin Jian’s injuries had thoroughly healed.

Therefore, he returned to his military unit.

This time, his injury was kept a well-guarded secret.

Scarcely anyone knew about it.

Yan Huan didn’t even tell her parents, knowing that her father had once been fond of Qin Jian’s mother, and her own mother had some reservations about it.

Since the Commander and his wife had said not to tell her parents, she decided not to—it was better to avoid any potential chaos.

A month later, Qin Jian rejoined his unit.

His heroic deed, although suppressed for a month, eventually spread throughout the military.

The previous time, Qin Jian led all officers and soldiers in a disaster relief operation, fearlessly facing danger, confronting difficulties head-on, and undaunted by wildfires, preventing a significant loss.

The organization commended them and also held discussions.

His position was pretty much settled, but there had been no conferment of rank or appointment until now.

This time, as soon as Qin Jian returned to the unit, the commendation and appointment documents from the higher-ups were issued.

Qin Jian was appointed as the Staff Officer of the 686th Regiment, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel!

From that moment on, Qin Jian changed from Camp Commander to Staff Officer Qin.

Meanwhile, Jian Ying, previously an instructor at the battalion level, was promoted to Political Commissar, also taking up a post at the regiment headquarters!

Tian Niu, who had an exceptional performance during the disaster relief, had stood out for years in the military, particularly during the recently concluded grand military contest where he and his team achieved remarkable results and broke several records.

The organization decided to promote him to Camp Commander!

Before he went to serve at the regiment headquarters, Qin Jian returned to the camp, and all the warriors from his battalion saw him off.

That evening, the mess staff prepared an abundance of delicacies, and the warriors brought out snacks like peanut dips that An Hao had made for them.

As they ate, the warriors of the battalion couldn’t stop praising An Hao and expressing their fondness for Qin Jian, wishing he wouldn’t leave, though they were simultaneously overjoyed about his promotion.

The soldiers of the Third Battalion could hardly bear to part with the Qin Family and made a scene for half the night with toasting and singing.

If Qin Jian hadn’t strongly constrained them, these warriors would probably have gone wild that night!

The next day, news of the Third Battalion’s gathering spread throughout the regiment.

Talk of the event was everywhere, and having the respect of one’s own men to such a degree was a matter of great honor.

However, there are always people with different points of focus.

For example, in the female soldiers’ dormitory.

”Sister Yan, you should’ve seen the soldiers of the Third Battalion. They treat that An Hao as if she were the Camp Commander’s wife! I heard she’s been sending beef and fish—so generous! That must have cost a lot of money!” Xiaomei sat on her bed, munching on an apple, chatting with Yan Huan.

”Don’t talk to me about that nonsense.” Ever since Qin Jian had returned, she had not seen him again.

Whenever she asked his soldiers about Qin Jian’s whereabouts, it was as if they knew nothing.

They had even learned to cover for him.

”Just look at how skillful she is. Sister Yan, if you don’t make a move, I’m really afraid you’ll miss your chance,” Xiaomei couldn’t help sighing, ”She’s already been appointed as the Staff Officer! Soon she’ll be at the regiment headquarters.”

Yan Huan, who was busy knitting, felt a surge of emotion upon hearing this. She stood up abruptly and tossed the pile of yarn in front of Xiaomei: ”Straighten this out for me and knit the sleeves of the sweater! I’ll check it when I come back on
