Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 405: Chapter 405: Much ado about nothing

Feng Yuzhi was spacing out, and she didn’t even hear Qin Jian calling her ”Auntie” twice.

”Old Feng! The kid is calling you!” Yan Luquan tugged at Feng Yuzhi’s clothes and said in a deep voice beside her ear.

”Oh oh oh!” Feng Yuzhi quickly came back to her senses, ”Ah, come in and have a seat!”

As soon as Yan Huan saw Qin Jian come in, the slight uneasiness she had felt instantly dissipated.

She dashed down from upstairs like a cheerful little bird and arrived at the center of the living room, ”Uncle Ning, Auntie, and Chief of Staff, hello!”

”What Chief of Staff? Just call him Big Brother,” Feng Yuzhi reminded her daughter with a giggle.

”Oh, hello Big Brother Qin!” Yan Huan showed a rare blush of shyness.

Qin Jian’s expression was indifferent, and he nodded lightly.

Qin Jian’s reaction was a bit too subdued, making Yan Huan feel very awkward.

Zhang Yun, on the other hand, was very pleased; seeing Yan Huan, she genuinely liked her, ”Huanhuan is such a likable child! I’ve watched her grow up since she was little, and she keeps getting more and more elegant.”

Feng Yuzhi was delighted to hear this and casually said, ”Sister-in-law, if you like her so much, why not let her be your daughter-in-law?”

If An Hao didn’t exist, Zhang Yun would happily agree.

But now with An Hao around, her son’s apple of the eye, she naturally wouldn’t agree so easily.

Whether Feng Yuzhi said that intentionally or not, regardless of the reason, Zhang Yun couldn’t loosen her tongue on behalf of her son.

So she said with a grin, ”Ah, I’m afraid I’m not blessed with that fortune! If Ning Bo were to marry her, it would be unfair to Yan Huan!”

Seeing her not picking up the conversation, Feng Yuzhi had a clear idea of the situation.

Previously confident, she suddenly felt that perhaps, Yan Huan’s matter might not be so easy to resolve.

Regardless, since the guests were here, she should entertain them first.

”Come on, no standing around, please have a seat! Have some fruit! Old Yan, you and Big Brother Ning play a couple of games! Yan Huan, accompany Qin Jian to go out and buy me some salt,” Feng Yuzhi swiftly gave everyone tasks, then looked at Zhang Yun with a beaming smile, ”Sister-in-law, I need to fry a few dishes, can you come help me?”

”Sure!” Zhang Yun smiled and followed Feng Yuzhi into the kitchen.

Seeing the situation, she knew Feng Yuzhi had something to say. Sure enough, while they were picking vegetables, Feng Yuzhi asked, ”Sister-in-law, look at Yan Huan; she’s already this old and still not married off, it’s really worrying me to death!”

There had been an engagement between Ning Bo and Yan Huan before, arranged by the two of them, and now that Ning Bo had left and Yan Huan was still single, Zhang Yun also felt somewhat sorry for the girl.

”Ah, Yan Huan is a good child, I like her very much! But now, Ning Bo is gone, and only Huanhuan is left, having been delayed for so long for no good reason, it doesn’t sit well with me or Old Ning either.”

”Sister-in-law, you know my two children don’t make my life easy! Yan Ye is a man and that’s one thing, but with Huanhuan’s big event being delayed, my heart...” This was Feng Yuzhi’s burden.

”I know, of course, I know. Now, I’ll keep an extra eye out for Huanhuan, and introduce her to suitable men! Don’t worry, I’ll treat Huanhuan like my own daughter,” Zhang Yun said sincerely.

”I know you would, sister-in-law,” Feng Yuzhi smiled and changed the subject to Qin Jian, ”Sister-in-law, I think this Qin Jian is a good kid, and Huanhuan likes him a lot! If Qin Jian is still single, perhaps we can play matchmaker between them?”
