Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1838: Chapter 1840: Desire Drives Us Forward

Cheng Su wasn’t flattering Little Yu, but sincerely admired her. At that time, she was such a distressed woman. I just provided some startup capital and maybe a bit of management advice, but didn’t participate in anything else. It was Little Yu who single-handedly established the old Auspicious Bun Shop.

From what was originally a small bun shop, to now having two or three branches and franchise stores. There’s no fake effort here.

Cheng Su respects every hardworking woman, and every person who fights with their own hands. Little Yu is one of them.

Seeing Cheng Su praising her like this, Little Yu felt a bit embarrassed, waved her hand, and playfully said, ”Look at you, in front of a business expert like you, I’m not even qualified to carry your shoes, how can I take your praise?”

”Why can’t you? In just a few short years, you’ve opened two or three shops; that’s something.” Cheng Su said earnestly, ”Opening a shop isn’t hard, the hard part is how to manage a brand. Sister-in-law, now with the old Auspicious having branches and franchise stores, it’s an independent brand! If you keep insisting on it and maintain good quality, this brand will keep moving forward, and the future achievements will be even greater. Just imagine, when people talk about buns and dumplings, everyone knows the old Auspicious. What a result!”

Little Yu was overwhelmed by her words, trying to hide her excitement, and said, ”Will it really be like this?” She touched her face and said, ”At first, I just wanted to earn a bit of living expenses, make sure the elderly and children have enough food and clothing, and didn’t think too much.”

”You just wanted financial independence and to achieve financial freedom?” Cheng Su laughed.

What she said seemed profound, and Little Yu tilted her head, thought for a moment, nodded, and said, ”It seems like that’s the case.”

At least now, she feels that her original intention has been realized. The family no longer has to worry about money, can eat meat when they want, the kids can study in peace, and have new clothes for the holidays. Watching them healthy and happy, she feels satisfied, all the hardships were worth it.

But along with this satisfaction, she also felt like something was missing, a bit unsatisfied.

Cheng Su laughed and said, ”You’ve accomplished it, but aren’t you still unsatisfied?”

Little Yu, caught off guard, blushed a bit and said, ”It feels a bit weird.”

”It’s not weird. It’s driven by desire.” Cheng Su smiled and jumped in, ”Human desire is endless. You feel financially free now, but what is true freedom? Family doesn’t worry about food and drink, is that freedom? Actually, no, you’ll think, once not worrying about food and drink, you’ll want to eat better, wear better, and live better.”

Little Yu’s face slightly reddened, she opened her mouth but couldn’t find a reason to refute.

”When our lifestyle and consumption reach a certain height, once reached, you won’t be content at that level and will think of more, for example, you’re satisfied having a bicycle now, but you’ll want something with four wheels because it’s more convenient and advanced, isn’t it?” Cheng Su smiled, ”That’s desire. Desire propels us forward, nourishes our relentless ambition. Of course, some people might be truly satisfied with the present, but most people have desires.”

Listening, Little Yu said, ”What you say makes me embarrassed to face myself!”

”What’s there to be embarrassed about? It’s true that desire is endless, if you can reach it, great, if not, at the very least, there’s no worry about food and drink now. What we cherish is actually the process of striving.” Cheng Su said.
