Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1817: Chapter 1819: Courting Trouble

Father Qi pulled Mother Qi into the room and asked with a stern face, ”What’s going on? Why did you suddenly say you’re going to take care of Xiao Qi?”

Mother Qi looked utterly confused and said, ”What’s so strange about that? I’m the grandmother, what’s strange about taking care of my grandchild? Judging by your expression, it’s as if I’ve committed some heinous crime.”

”His maternal grandmother was taking good care of him, and then suddenly she says she’s not looking after him anymore?” Father Qi’s face was grim as he said, ”Did you tell her to go back and say you’re the one to take care of him?”

Mother Qi felt guilty and turned her head aside, ”I didn’t.”

After being married for decades and sharing the same bed, could he not tell she was guilty?

”When you came, you said you wanted to take care of Xiao Qi. If you hadn’t mentioned it, how would she have seen through your intentions and taken the initiative to let you take care of the grandchild?” Father Qi said coldly.

Mother Qi was embarrassed and said, ”What kind of tone is that? Even if I did suggest it, so what? Can’t I take care of my own grandchild?”

”Then you better have the ability for it!” Father Qi raised his voice.

”Why wouldn’t I have the ability? The siblings in Taiguo, didn’t I take care of each of them? And Xiao Bao, didn’t I take care of him? Now it’s Xiao Qi, and it suddenly becomes that I lack the ability? I’d like to ask you, why do you despise me so much? What is it about me that offends your eyes?” Mother Qi said angrily.

It’s truly infuriating and heartbreaking; it’s just taking care of a grandchild, why is it seen as if it’s some heinous crime and I’m said to be incapable? This is too humiliating!

”No one can deny your merits, but back then, how old were you? How good was your health? And now? Your leg is still limping when you walk. Didn’t you hear what the daughter-in-law said? The child can run and disappear in an instant. With your leg, can you catch up? If you can’t catch up, what then?” Father Qi mercilessly pointed out the problems, ”Out there, there are many cars and people. If you can’t catch up and lose sight of him, what will the consequences be?”

Mother Qi’s face went rigid, and after a long pause, she said, ”Don’t forget, the in-law is also around my age. If she can take care of him, why can’t I?”

”Because she has a pair of nimble legs,” Father Qi sneered.

Those words hit Mother Qi right in the heart, her eyes reddened, and tears welled up instantly.

”Yes, I just don’t have her good fortune and luck. A perfectly good pair of legs, all just to care for the daughter-in-law, and I got into a car accident and broke a leg in vain. Now I can’t even take care of a grandchild, incapable because I don’t have good legs, and it’s my fault, right? Blame it on my thin fate, blame it on my bad luck.” Mother Qi cried out.

Father Qi looked at her coldly, ”I just don’t understand, since the in-law can help, why do you insist on taking care of the grandchild yourself? Can’t you just live quietly?”

”I’m being foolish, I insist on rushing out, I’m bored, is that right?” Mother Qi retorted.

Father Qi was choked up, looking at her crying appearance, he was really irritated.

”Since it’s like this, suit yourself.” He stood up and said, ”I’ll go back with the in-laws. Since you insist on taking care of the grandchild, I hope you do it comfortably and properly, and don’t cause any trouble. This is Taiguo’s only son, the Qi family’s eldest grandson, and they can’t have another at this time. Whether fulfilling yourself is more important or your grandson’s safety is, I won’t say more. If you had thought it through, you wouldn’t have insisted on taking care of him.”

Having said that, he walked out.

Mother Qi looked up blankly at the closing door, gritting her teeth, ”I just don’t believe it, my own grandson, I can’t take care of him better than his maternal grandmother!”
