Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1818: Chapter 1820: Asking Father-in-law to Stay Too

Father Qi was truly angry. He initially thought that since the old lady wanted to see her grandson, he wouldn’t say anything. But now, hearing what Cheng Su said, and combining it with the stories he usually heard about missing children, he inexplicably felt uneasy.

Their family’s Xiao Qi was lovable, and with his fair complexion, who wouldn’t be fond of him? Such a child, and a boy at that, is always adored. Heaven forbid, if Mother Qi was careless and the child got taken away? Then...

Father Qi quickly dismissed the thought. Such a scenario shouldn’t even be imagined; it was too inauspicious!

But Mother Qi’s legs truly worried him. She couldn’t walk fast, let alone run!

Yet this stubborn old lady insisted on saying she would take care of him.

Damn it, stupid old woman, totally clueless!

Father Qi rolled a cigarette and started smoking on the balcony, becoming increasingly furious as he thought about it.

”Dad, why are you smoking here? After the Mid-Autumn Festival, it’s getting chilly.” Cheng Su came out.

”There are children in the house, and you’re here too, so it’s not good to smoke.” Father Qi said as he moved his cigarette further away to avoid the smoke reaching her.

Cheng Su smiled and said, ”No worries, you can smoke wherever you want, just make sure not to catch a cold.”

Father Qi nodded, thought for a moment, and said, ”Your mother-in-law, she’s a stubborn person. She’s been talking about helping you with Xiao Qi since before he was born. If it weren’t for her bad leg, she wouldn’t have held back for so long. Now, she just couldn’t help but talk to your mom. You should persuade your mom well so as not to dishearten her.”

”Dad, I know, don’t worry, my mom is fine!” Cheng Su replied quickly.

”Your mom is a capable woman, I’ve known that for a long time. She has been very attentive over the past year, and she has taken good care of Xiao Qi. You and your family have raised Xiao Qi well, and that puts me at ease. But your mother-in-law, she... sigh!” Father Qi showed a helpless smile: ”I can’t persuade her.”

”Dad, you don’t have to think too much. I still have another year of studies before I can be completely free. Otherwise, I would definitely take care of him myself. So with your help, all I can feel is gratitude.” Cheng Su said reassuringly, ”This affection grows from spending time together. Mother-in-law likes Xiao Qi, and we can all see that. I believe she will take good care of him.”

”I’m not saying she doesn’t have the heart. You’ve seen her leg, it’s just not as it used to be. As you said earlier, when it comes to running, we old folks can barely keep up with a child, let alone someone who can’t run?” Father Qi took a puff from the cigarette and said, ”Now that life has improved, there are more cars, and I just can’t feel at ease!”

Cheng Su felt a warm glow in her heart, thinking that this is genuine concern for Xiao Qi. She said, ”In that case, playing at home or strolling in the yard should be enough, and I’m here too!”

Father Qi nodded, thought for a moment, and said, ”Why not hire a nanny? I have money here to pay for it. Having one more person to look after him will give us peace of mind. Now that Taiguo is not around, having one more person around can settle the mind a bit.”

”If we’re to hire a nanny, I also have the money, but if we really do, then Dad, you should also move in with us!” Cheng Su said, ”With you here, if I go out, both of you elders can surely handle one Xiao Qi. Besides, if Mother-in-law takes care of Xiao Qi, you’d be lonely alone at the old house, so why not live with us and enjoy the hustle and bustle!”

The most important thing is, with him around, he can frequently remind Mother Qi not to be reckless, serving as a peacemaker.

Father Qi pursed his lips, deep in thought.
