Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1805: Chapter 1807: Leave It to Fate

Hearing Chiang Qing wanted a child, Shen Rong’s heart softened a bit; no man dislikes hearing someone say they want to have a child for you, he’s a simple man, and this is no exception.

Especially since the other party is so many years younger than him, practically young enough to be his granddaughter.

His ego and vanity were instantly satisfied, and Shen Rong’s gaze became softer. Could Chiang Qing’s desire mean that she is wholeheartedly devoted to him?

One must admit, men are sometimes easy to appease, particularly those nearing their seventies; a casual remark can bring him great joy and make him lose all sense.

Shen Rong was exactly like this. He wasn’t entirely foolish, but Chiang Qing’s words indeed pleased him, causing him momentarily to lose judgment when faced with the crying woman.

But a child...

Shen Rong’s eyes glanced around the soup bowl again; Chiang Qing had once had that illness, could it be passed on to the next generation?

It’s not that he wouldn’t give her a child; if Chiang Qing didn’t have that illness, he’d be more than happy to give her a child, but now...

How could the Shen Family have a lineage with mental illness?

Thinking of this, Shen Rong’s originally warm heart cooled a bit, saying: ”Actually, not having a child is good, you can stay by my side all the time, isn’t that good?”

Listening to this, Chiang Qing felt cold inside, and looked at him in shock, saying: ”What do you mean? You don’t want me to have a child?”

”Is a child that important?” Shen Rong frowned.

Chiang Qing couldn’t help but stand up: ”How could it not be important? Without a child, what am I? In the future, if you... pass away, what will I do alone?”

”You don’t have to worry about that. Even if I leave before you, I’ll arrange your later years. You won’t have to worry about food and drink, rest assured!” Shen Rong comforted her.

”You’re being too naive. Just look at these few days, haven’t you seen? Even while you’re still around, the eldest sons are bullying me, coercing me, accusing me. If one day you’re not here, even if you’ve arranged everything for me, without anyone to help, can I protect myself? Can I protect everything you’ve given me?” Chiang Qing’s voice was sharp.

The more she spoke, the colder she felt in her heart because she had stated the truth: she really could only rely on Shen Rong now.

If he were gone, she would be nothing, without power, even with money; she might not be able to protect herself.

This cruel reality made her feel scared and anxious, further solidifying her resolve that she needed a trustworthy support system.

Right, she also needed money; money makes the world go round, she needed more money.

In just a fleeting moment, Chiang Qing’s mind was changing; to have more money, she needed a child, so even if the old man passed away, she could secure more of his estate.

Only then could she ensure a comfortable later life, ensure she could seek vengeance peacefully.

Chiang Qing looked at Shen Rong with a face of sorrow, saying: ”I want to be a mother.”

Shen Rong furrowed his brows; this side of Chiang Qing was a little intolerable and agitated.

”Without a child, I’m just your songbird in a golden cage, not your wife. I don’t want that. A child — the first wife and second wife can have children, why can’t I? Don’t you love me?” Chiang Qing grabbed his arm, saying: ”Our child will definitely be smart and beautiful.”

Shen Rong sighed, closed his eyes slightly, saying: ”Alright, alright, I’m already this old, let’s leave the matter of children to fate.”
