Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1833: Chapter 1835: Who’s Behind the Scheming?

Chiang Qing had been feeling uneasy these days. Shen Rong, being keenly observant and sharing a bed with her, naturally noticed. When he asked her, she mingled truth with falsehood, saying she feared she might not be able to bear children. Without children, they wouldn’t seem like a real family.

The old issue came up again, but precisely because of this, Shen Rong didn’t suspect anything. After all, he felt guilty in the first place, and the second wife was already pregnant. So Chiang Qing having some gloomy thoughts wasn’t surprising.

”How about this? Now that it’s cold, I could accompany you abroad for a change of scenery?” Shen Rong suggested.

There was no way Chiang Qing would agree. She shook her head and said, ”I don’t want to move. I just want to stay quiet.” She couldn’t break this stalemate, so she wouldn’t go anywhere.

Shen Rong felt helpless and lost his temper. He had already added a lot of security under her name. If she was still not satisfied, then there was nothing he could do!

Lin Biao came to report work matters to Shen Rong. As Chiang Qing watched the old man’s aged and slightly bent back, her gaze gradually turned cold.

Taking advantage of the time when Shen Rong went out with Lin Biao to meet other associates, Chiang Qing went to find Chiang Tian. Two heads are better than one, and her little brother often had the most crafty ideas. Maybe he could come up with a good plan.

Chiang Tian had long wanted to visit since Chiang Qing asked him to test that weird soup. Unfortunately, his newly opened company wasn’t on track yet, and everything was a mess, leaving him no time to go.

Now that Chiang Qing came by, he could ask her what was going on.

Upon hearing that it was Shen Rong who had drugged her, Chiang Tian cursed.

”Damn! Isn’t this like something out of a TV drama? Sis, how did you offend him so much that he won’t even let you have kids?” Chiang Tian frowned and asked, ”Wait a minute, no man wouldn’t want many children for prosperity, especially in a wealthy family like this. Sis, could it be that the other two wives are behind this? Maybe they’re afraid you’d have a child and split the inheritance more!”

The siblings were originally from a respectable background, but their father had squandered his opportunities. However, that didn’t mean Chiang Tian was foolish. In the scheming world of wealthy families, they’d do anything to fight over inheritance.

Isn’t this how ancient princes fought for the throne? It’s the same with big families below them too.

People are driven by wealth, birds by food, an eternal truth.

And fighting over inheritance is most common; in ancient times, men had three wives and four concubines, and the women fought among themselves. For their own children’s sake, they’d struggle till death, spilling blood.

But whether wife or concubine, having a child means having a stake. The inheritance to be divided would be greater, and those who already had it wouldn’t want to reduce their share from a full ten to eight, would they?

Impossible! Everyone can do simple math, and in front of wealth and power, what affection could exist between wives and concubines?

So, Chiang Tian instantly thought that Shen Rong’s first two wives were conspiring to sabotage his big sister, preventing her from bearing children to claim more of the old man’s wealth.

It’s well known that the inheritance given to a childless Mistress is far less than to one with children. Family heads aren’t stupid, they wouldn’t give most of the inheritance to a woman without children, would they? What if she remarried? Wouldn’t that be giving advantages to others for free!

After hearing her brother’s words, Chiang Qing felt a sense of suspicion. Could it be true?

Even though those two ’sisters’ appeared friendly on the surface, who knew what their real intentions were behind her back?

Chiang Qing carefully thought over her interactions with those two ’sisters’ and found nothing wrong. Recently, it was Shen Rong himself who personally ordered the soup to be made.

”It’s not them!”
