Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1809: Chapter 1811: Saying the Wrong Thing

Cheng Su had no idea that her private life had already been exposed in Chiang Qing’s eyes. With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, her in-laws and father came to Qing City to reunite, and Qi Fenglian also took the opportunity to bring festival gifts, accompanied by her husband and kids, making the house bustling and lively.

”Mom and Dad might as well celebrate the festival at our place, it’ll be lively.” Everyone was gathered together talking, Qi Fenglian cheerfully invited her parents.

”Yeah, yeah, Grandma, come to our house for the festival.” Xiao Bao chimed in, jumping with excitement.

Mother Qi was delighted, hugged Xiao Bao in her arms, gave him a kiss, and playfully scolded Qi Fenglian, ”You’re talking nonsense, you have your own family now, who goes to their daughter’s house to celebrate the festival?”

As soon as these words were out, the lively atmosphere in the room suddenly froze, and Father Cheng and Mother Cheng’s expressions turned a bit stiff.

Weren’t they celebrating the festival at their daughter’s house too?

Mother Qi also realized she had misspoken, her lips twitched, and she subconsciously glanced at Cheng Su, feeling uneasy.

Cheng Su looked at her with a meaningful gaze.

Mother Qi’s pupils slightly contracted, wanting to explain something, but her throat seemed blocked, mumbling without being able to speak.

Father Qi silently cursed his wife, quickly stepping in to save face, ”If it were any other day, we might really have gone, but now Xiao Qi is here, we always think of him first, wherever he is, that’s where we’ll celebrate.” Saying this, he shot Mother Qi a glare.

Mother Qi quickly added, ”Yes, yes, Xiao Qi is here, we’re not going anywhere.”

Qi Fenglian also knew her mom had misspoken, with the in-laws celebrating here, wasn’t this just a slap in their face? Secretly blaming herself for bringing it up, she tried to smooth things over, smiling, ”Looks like I’m no match for Xiao Qi, can’t even compete with him for attention.”

”Let cousin come to our house too.” Xiao Bao said, sitting in front of Qi Xiaoqi, reaching out to poke his chubby cheek, feeling deeply fond.

Qi Xiaoqi looked away from the building blocks in front of him, glanced at his cousin with only a tuft of hair on his forehead, then at the adults, and finally said in a milky voice, ”I want to stay at my own home.” Pausing, he added, ”My grandma, grandpa, and granddad are also at my house, together.”

He deliberately left out Mother Qi, who was eagerly looking at him.

Qi Xiaoqi finally spoke to Xiao Bao again, ”Let your grandma go to your house then.”

Everyone was taken aback, Mother Cheng wished she could scoop Qi Xiaoqi up and kiss him fiercely, thinking, this kid, isn’t he just lovable, always sticking up for family?

Mother Qi’s face turned unpleasantly sullen.

Cheng Su had seen enough of everyone’s expressions, intentionally scolded Qi Xiaoqi, ”Xiao Qi, if Grandpa is staying home, how can Grandma go over to Auntie’s?”

Qi Xiaoqi looked at her, earnestly saying, ”My grandma celebrates at home, so my brother’s grandma should obviously celebrate at his house, otherwise he’d cry.”

Everyone burst out laughing.

Qi Fenglian called him a little rascal, scooped him up and said, ”Then let Grandma celebrate at Auntie’s house too.” She then teased Cheng Su, ”How come in just a few months, he’s become so articulate? Truly smart, much smarter than his cousin.”

”Probably watched too much TV, learned that way.” Cheng Su glanced at her son.

”I say that’s not it. Clearly, you two are so clever, so you have such a clever child, really endearing.” Qi Fenglian gave Qi Xiaoqi several kisses.

Seeing Xiao Bao a bit down, Qi Xiaoqi said, ”Cousin is smart too, he’s older than Xiao Qi.”

Xiao Bao immediately perked up, puffed out his chest, and said, ”Of course, I’m your brother, and I’ll always watch out for you in the future.”

Qi Xiaoqi smiled, and everyone joined in the laughter and chatter over the children’s innocent words, except for Mother Qi, who was left feeling desolate and hurt by the perceived ’abandonment’ from her grandson.
