Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1803: Chapter 1805: I, Ning Ge, Bully Others Just Because I Can

Some families celebrate, some lament. As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, Cheng Su is preparing for the visit from her parents-in-law and father. Far away in the Capital, the Ning Family has also received the Mid-Autumn Festival gifts sent by Cheng Su.

These days, Ning Ge has been so busy that he’s practically a shadow of himself. He just got home and saw everyone gathered around, looking through the gifts Cheng Su sent, mostly local specialty mooncakes and this year some supplements from her own seafood shop.

He casually grabbed a mooncake, tore it open, and started eating, while asking a servant to bring him some tea.

”Did you skip dinner or what?” Ning Gang looked at him, frowned, and checked the time before asking.

”I only drank tonight, didn’t have much to fill my stomach.” Ning Ge replied, biting heartily into the mooncake.

Hearing this, Ning Gang disapproved even more, saying, ”Doing business is fine, but you can’t joke around with your body. Eat when you should.”

Ning Ge said, ”You know how it is at the drinking table, once you start, there’s no stopping.”

Ning Gang rolled his eyes at him and called him into the study, asking, ”What’s the deal with the Shen Family? I heard from your second brother that you’re frequently using connections to pressure the Shen Family?”

Ning Ge swallowed the mooncake in his mouth and said, ”It’s nothing, just outsiders trying to take our territory in the Capital.”

”Nonsense, what territory? Do you think you’re in a gang?” Ning Gang scolded.

Ning Ge giggled and said, ”Big brother, I have my reasons. The Shen Family runs casinos abroad, they’re half legal, half shady. Now they’re trying to expand their business here, who knows if their money is clean.”

Ning Gang frowned and said, ”If they can develop business here, they must be legitimate. Little Four, in this world, not everything is black and white.”

Though a military man, he understood the world’s game rules weren’t just black and white, even the highest leaders knew this. As long as it wasn’t excessive and kept to the surface, some darkness was allowed.

There’s no choice, for the nation to grow strong, the economy must flourish. Even in the military, where do they need money for developing weapons and such? The annual nation’s budget for the military isn’t that big, doesn’t he know?

And where does the money come from? Doing business, engaging in trade, commerce with foreign countries, etc.

”Big brother, don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.” Ning Ge said, ”I bet you don’t know why I’m pressuring the Shen Family? Jiang Conghe’s daughter, Chiang Qing, is now the Third Mistress of the Shen Family’s head. Isn’t that dramatic?”

Ning Gang was startled, ”What?”

That girl seemed to have disappeared without news, now she’s someone’s Third Mistress?

What is going on?

”Anyway, that’s how it is. Chiang Qing, that woman, is crazy. I just can’t stand seeing her and can’t stand her relying on the Shen Family to throw her weight around.” Ning Ge raised his chin and said, ”The Shen Family, if they want to take in such a woman, they have to bear the consequences.”

Ning Gang laughed angrily, ”So you’re abusing your power.”

”Why can’t I?” Ning Ge said proudly, ”Why work hard to gain power if not to use it to bully others now!”

This is the condition he has. Wasn’t the Chiang Family like this too back then?

This is the game rule: whoever is the boss is the one with power.

”I can’t be bothered to lecture you. I can’t handle things here. Your second brother is in civil affairs. Don’t make it too hard for him. Next year, there’s going to be another election.” Ning Gang gently reminded him.

Ning Ge saluted him as a sign of understanding.
