I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 541: Chapter 540: A Peaceful Day

No matter how well Wei Yuanqing maintains himself, he is getting older, and after standing for more than two hours, his legs begin to feel numb. Wei Zhongxun helplessly looks at the chair beside him, realizing that Grandpa can’t sit down.

Of course, Wei Yuanqing can’t sit; Wei Zhongyuan is the greatest hope of this generation of the Wei Family. He truly loves these two grandsons, and as he gets older, he really doesn’t want to bury his own children.

”Grandpa, let’s go inside and wait,” Wei Zhongxun said compassionately.

Wei Yuanqing shook his head, ”Doctor Bei is pregnant and inside saving my Wei Family’s young ones. How can I complain about standing outside waiting? I’ll wait here, so I can respond quickly if Doctor Bei has any instructions.”

Wei Zhongxun nodded, looking at Wei Yuanqing with respect.

Just as they were speaking, the tightly closed door of Wei Zhongyuan’s room opened, and they turned to see Beisitian walking out.

Wei Zhongxun hurriedly helped Wei Yuanqing walk over.

”Doctor Bei, how is it?” Wei Yuanqing’s heart tightened when he saw Beisitian expressionless.

”It’s fine now, Zhongxun, take me back,” Beisitian said. Two hours of acupuncture treatment and verbal guidance were very exhausting, and she was already tired and felt sleepy now.

Wei Yuanqing immediately let out a big sigh of relief, his entire body relaxing as he shared the fatigue.

Wei Zhongxun quickly nodded, ”Grandpa, I’ll take Master back first.”

Wei Yuanqing looked at Beisitian with immense gratitude, ”Doctor Bei, you are a benefactor of our Wei Family! This old man thanks you here first!”

”You’re welcome,” Beisitian said, not wanting to say more.

Seeing Beisitian’s exhaustion, Wei Yuanqing knew he had many questions and gratitude to express but couldn’t say them at this moment, so he hurried Wei Zhongxun to get the car.

Wei Zhongxun drove Beisitian back, and after taking her inside, his concerns for his brother didn’t allow him to stay longer, so he quickly returned.

Beisitian fell asleep as soon as she lay down, and slept until noon the next day, as Luo Xudong had already taken a leave for her in advance.

”I know you’re a sensible person, but it’s not okay to exhaust yourself like this,” Luo Xudong said.

Today wasn’t a day off, yet surprisingly Luo Xudong was home.

Seeing Luo Xudong speaking earnestly, Beisitian knew he was worried about her, and obediently nodded, saying, ”I know, I won’t do it for myself, at least for the child.”

Luo Xudong gently hugged her. He understood that if Beisitian could save a life by expending some energy, he had no reason to stop her, but seeing her so exhausted, his heart ached.

”Why aren’t you at the military today?” Beisitian tilted her head and asked.

Luo Xudong gently nuzzled her smooth forehead with his chin and said, ”I have to leave for a while, at least two weeks, possibly two months.”

So he specially requested a day off today to be with Beisitian.

He felt quite guilty deep in his heart. With Beisitian pregnant, he wasn’t able to be with her all the time, and even when not on missions, he seldom had time to stay at home. This time he was going overseas for peacekeeping, as a part of a special reinforcement unit, he would do his utmost to return within one to two months.

Beisitian sat up and looked at Luo Xudong with her sparkling eyes, ”No matter what, be sure to stay safe. You are not alone anymore; you have parents, a wife, and children.”

Luo Xudong had never been away this long, and he had never taken a special day off to be with her before a mission, which left her with a sense of unease.

Saying these words was to make him have concerns in his mind; call her selfish if you will, but with concerns, Luo Xudong would remain calm in some situations and not rush in blindly.

Luo Xudong smiled, ”Don’t worry, it’s just that the duration of going out is long.”

Seeing the slight smile on his lips, Beisitian felt a bit more at ease.

On that day, Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo didn’t come over to the courtyard, and they kept Luo Xuping, who was running this way, giving the couple some alone time.

Luo Xudong cooked lunch; while it wasn’t as delicious as Beisitian’s, it was passable and quite tasty, and they both enjoyed eating it.

The couple spent a leisure-filled whole day, and in the evening, Mrs. Qin made a table full of dishes, inviting them over to eat. She had become very good at making medicinal meals using the recipe Beisitian had given her.

”I might as well open a small restaurant and earn some money,” Mrs. Qin joked while untying her apron.

Luo Xuping had already taken a seat at the table, ever since Beisitian improved the diet, his height began to shoot up, and the skin-and-bones appearance had long gone. Although he wasn’t the tallest in the class, he was one of the tallest.

”Brother, Sister, in the future, I also want to join the military!” Luo Xuping said after gulping a mouthful of rice, eyes wide open.

He still hadn’t changed; he continued to call Beisitian ”Sister,” as he felt calling her ”Sister-in-law” very awkward, and couldn’t get past it from the heart. Eventually, Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo didn’t force him anymore, letting him call her whatever he liked.

”Why such a lofty ambition?” Beisitian smiled and asked.

Luo Xuping proudly lifted his chin, ”I want to be even more outstanding than Big Brother.”

Luo Xudong cast a faint glance at him, and Luo Xuping blinked and then continued to focus on eating.

Luo Anguo and Mrs. Qin didn’t mind; the child had his own ideas, and whatever they wished to do, they would let him do it. The parents could no longer give him a boost; it was all up to him in the future.

After dinner, Luo Xudong and Beisitian chatted with the couple, and they heard Zhuangzhuang barking. Someone had come to the courtyard.

Luo Xudong went out, saw that it was Wei Yuanqing and Wei Zhongxun with their grandchildren, and invited them inside.

Behind Wei Yuanqing and Wei Zhongxun followed a few others, each holding a gift box wrapped in red cloth.

”Doctor Bei, I initially wanted to come in the morning, but heard you were resting, so I didn’t want to disturb you. The old man is here to thank you. If it weren’t for you, Zhongyuan’s life would be gone, and the Wei Family would have lost a pillar!” Wei Yuanqing said sincerely.

The gifts he brought were all valuable herbal medicines, treasures of the Wei Family, totaling eight gift boxes!

”Mr. Wei, there’s no need for such courtesy,” Beisitian smiled, not refusing these herbal medicines.

”It’s been hard on Doctor Bei, have you rested enough?” Wei Yuanqing asked.

”I’m fine, it’s just some exhaustion,” Beisitian replied.

Upon hearing this, Wei Yuanqing nodded, feeling relieved, though a hint of worry still lingered between his brows as he asked, ”Doctor Bei, although Zhongyuan’s breathing is now stable, and he appears to be asleep, why hasn’t he shown signs of waking after sleeping for so long?”

”Let him sleep, by this time tomorrow, he’ll likely wake up,” Beisitian said.

Wei Yuanqing further inquired, ”Doctor Bei, could you explain what caused this? I don’t even know what Zhongyuan did to end up like this. Will there be any aftereffects?”

This last question was his greatest concern. If Zhongyuan wakes up with diminished spirit, that’s manageable and can be compensated for, but if he becomes a fool, what can be done?
