I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 522: Chapter 521: The Whole Story

”Have a seat.” Luo Xudong said to Qiao Xianhong.

Qiao Xianhong glanced at Luo Xudong’s expression but couldn’t discern anything, feeling rather uneasy inside.

”Xudong, I know you blame me, but I absolutely didn’t waste that money. My father owed gambling debts and was chased into the deep mountains. Later, he was caught, and if I didn’t pay back the money, they’d chop off his arms and legs. I can’t just watch my dad get hacked to death!” Qiao Xianhong lowered his head, pounding his own head with his hands.

”Back then, I thought I would pay back the money first, and then save up the allowances I get every month to repay my uncle and aunt as soon as possible. But I never imagined my mother would be paralyzed, and there are two kids at home. My father’s condition means the whole family is depending on me alone. I really couldn’t save any money to repay!”

As he spoke, Qiao Xianhong slammed his head twice.

Since Luo Xudong came in, Beisitian stopped speaking. After more than two years of marriage with Luo Xudong, she had some understanding of his temperament. She wanted to see what he planned to do.

He couldn’t possibly forget about this matter, but the fact that he hadn’t confronted Qiao Xianhong for such a long time, at least publicly, must mean he has his thoughts on the matter.

Qiao Xianhong didn’t get any response, suddenly raised his head, and looking at the unmoved Luo Xudong, stood up and knelt on the ground.

”Xudong, forgive me, lend me one more time, just once, I promise to pay you back as soon as possible!” Qiao Xianhong held out a finger, gesturing firmly to show his determination.

He truly had nowhere else to turn. Over the past two years, he didn’t know why fate seemingly went against him; nothing he did went right. His unreliable father had again incurred huge gambling debts, his mother needed care, and his wife and children needed food. It was all on him.

But his business lost money, and he would encounter extortionists when going out, and they couldn’t reason with them, losing a lot of money to them. On top of his father’s gambling debts, relatives and friends avoided them like the plague.

In the past, he borrowed from one war buddy and then another, borrowing back and forth, unable to repay anyone. After a while, who would lend to him again, not only refusing to lend but also chasing for repayments.

Qiao Xianhong finally thought of Luo Xudong. Honestly, if possible, he wouldn’t want to appear in front of Luo Xudong for the rest of his life, but he had no choice.

Since Luo Xudong returned, his momentum was formidable, quickly becoming the deputy regiment commander, and he bought two houses in Beijing, so he surely wasn’t short of money. Since he wasn’t short, he absolutely wouldn’t force him to repay the money. If he begged sincerely, maybe he could solve the urgent crisis.

Luo Xudong stared at him and finally sighed, saying, ”I won’t lend you money, but as for that eight thousand, you don’t need to repay me immediately, but eventually you will have to repay it.”

Beisitian watched Luo Xudong in silence.

Qiao Xianhong shook his head; this wasn’t the result he was hoping for.

”Xudong, we can barely get by anymore, lend me one more time, I’ll issue an IOU, and I’ll repay you along with that eight thousand!”

Luo Xudong shook his head, stood up, opened the door, gazed outside, and said, ”You should go.”

As soon as he opened the door, Qiao Xianhong quickly stood up; he didn’t want more people to know about him kneeling!

”Xudong, after all these years as war buddies, you really won’t help me one more time?” Qiao Xianhong looked deeply saddened.

Luo Xudong said, ”It’s precisely because we’ve been war buddies for so many years that I didn’t make you repay the eight thousand immediately.”

Qiao Xianhong glared at Luo Xudong, ”I’ve always thought you have a heart of stone, then and now.”

After he said that, he brushed the dust off his knees and walked out looking like nothing could be more sorrowful than a dead heart.

Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo stood by the archway, having listened to the entire conversation between the two.

”Qiao Xianhong, you are heartless, if you hadn’t misappropriated that money, we wouldn’t live so miserably!” Mrs. Qin was embraced by Luo Anguo, looking at Qiao Xianhong as if desperate to take a bite out of him.

She didn’t yell because most neighbors were separated by a wall, and a slightly louder voice could be heard clearly, so she lowered her voice, but this voice represented her repressed and stifling emotion!

Qiao Xianhong lowered his head, and quickly walked out of the yard.

As soon as Qiao Xianhong left, Mrs. Qin immediately turned her gaze to Luo Xudong. What a good son of hers!

Mrs. Qin stomped up the steps, raised her hand, and slapped Luo Xudong. He neither dodged nor avoided, silently enduring it, as if it was something he deserved.

Beisitian didn’t expect Mrs. Qin to hit him, and quickly stepped forward to hold Mrs. Qin’s arm, whispering, ”Mother, things aren’t as you think. Let’s talk inside.”

Mrs. Qin was trembling with rage, supported by Beisitian into the house, followed closely by Luo Anguo, who didn’t look at Luo Xudong. If today wasn’t made clear, he wouldn’t recognize this son anymore!

The elderly couple sat inside, looked at Luo Xudong with anger. As a son, not being able to take good care of the family at such a time could be overlooked, but letting someone who disturbed the family leave so lightly, and even say there’s no hurry to repay!

Sure, they didn’t lack money anymore, but that eight thousand was quite significant, and its meaning was different to them!

Luo Xudong remained silent, while Beisitian, worried about Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo’s health due to anger, asked, ”Xudong, is Qiao Xianhong’s downfall in these two years your doing?”

Luo Xudong slowly nodded, he wanted Qiao Xianhong to appear before him voluntarily.

”Let him taste what you went through.” Luo Xudong said.

Over these two years, he hadn’t forgotten about Qiao Xianhong’s matter, and he didn’t leave it unattended. At first, he followed the leads of Qiao Xianhong and Qin Hongmei’s sister, investigating who targeted him with this trap.

He finally discovered that it was actually a person who participated in the special force assessment at that time, as the special force initially considered him, and due to Luo Xudong, this eligibility was his, meaning the candidate was originally that person’s spot, and because of Luo Xudong, he was left out, and this exclusion meant he had to demobilize and go home.

Having been a soldier for so many years, leaving the military camp meant he didn’t know where to go, couldn’t adapt to society, naturally harboring resentment toward Luo Xudong. If it weren’t for him, he would have been an excellent special force soldier.

It wasn’t enough to provoke the desire to harm others, but after Luo Xudong was forcefully recruited by the General Staff Ninth Department, it was like a bomb exploding within him; although he had already demobilized and returned home, Luo Xudong went to the General Staff Department, leaving the vacancy to someone else!

He was filled with hatred, but not enough to harm others, only resorting to intrigues, gathering information on Luo Xudong, learning about Qiao Xianhong, and targeting him ultimately.
