I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 533: Chapter 532: How Did You Meet

Shao Simin stood by Luo Xuhua, a smile on her lips, not stopping his action because it was too late to do so even if she wanted to.

”Seeing that you’re busy, I didn’t want to disturb you,” Beisitian said with a gentle smile.

Luo Xuhua was indeed busy, and Shao Simin was quite busy too, though they were focused on different things. If the relationship was truly that close, she could easily find Shao Simin, so this was just an excuse.

Luo Xuhua understood and said no more.

In just a couple of sentences between him and Beisitian, they had already attracted the attention of Peng Baocheng, who looked at Luo Xuhua with surprise and then at Ma Tianlai.

Ma Tianlai leaned in close and whispered a few words to him, to which Peng Baocheng nodded in understanding.

”Sitian, try to stay in less crowded places. You’re pregnant and it’s inconvenient. If you need anything, just come to me,” Luo Xuhua said.

He didn’t have much time, and it was already good enough to have a few words with Beisitian.

”Okay.” Beisitian responded with a faint smile.

”Do you have a car to take you home tonight?” Luo Xuhua asked, not fully reassured.

In fact, Beisitian was brought here by Shao Simin. Being heavily pregnant made it inconvenient, and with Luo Xudong not by her side, he couldn’t help but worry. If anything were to happen at or around this party, he would be upset for a lifetime.

”Yes, I do.”

”That’s good then.”

Luo Xuhua was about to leave after speaking, but then he heard Peng Baocheng speak.

”So Mr. Luo and Doctor Bei have such deep connections. If it weren’t for Brother Ma, I would never have guessed.”

No wonder Beisitian had an invitation. Since it’s the husband’s cousin, the relationship should be very close. Why, then, is the invitation the white-bordered, lowest-tier kind?

This couldn’t help but make Peng Baocheng think.

Luo Xuhua, hearing Peng Baocheng speak with such familiarity towards Beisitian, widened his eyes, looking at Beisitian and then at Peng Baocheng, not knowing how they could know each other.

Shao Simin, thinking that what she noticed earlier wasn’t a mistake, smiled and stepped forward to take Beisitian’s arm. ”Sister-in-law, you shouldn’t stand on ceremony. Why didn’t you come look for me when you arrived? Maybe it’s because I was too busy to notice. Anyway, Sitian, how did you meet President Peng?”

Beisitian gently withdrew her arm from Shao Simin’s grasp and said, ”We met unexpectedly.”

The term ”met unexpectedly” covered too broad a range, providing no information or reference value. Shao Simin was naturally dissatisfied, and the fact that Beisitian withdrew her arm felt a bit disrespectful.

Shao Simin suppressed her inner discontent and didn’t grab Beisitian’s arm again. She couldn’t openly ask how she knew President Peng, but she would definitely ask in private.

Just then, a few people came over to Peng Baocheng, chatted for a while, and Peng Baocheng turned back to Beisitian, ”Doctor Bei, I’ll excuse myself first. I’ll pick you up on time tomorrow.”

Beisitian nodded to show she understood.

Tomorrow, she would check on his wife’s condition, see if there were signs of a repelling charm to proceed with the next steps.

In fact, Beisitian wanted to observe more brain patients. Wherever she was weakest, she focused her observations. In the previous life, there weren’t many such patients, and those there were mostly kept at home or treated as gone, not publicized.

”Sitian, this is...” Luo Xuhua opened his mouth.

”He’s my patient.” Beisitian couldn’t explain the private matters too clearly, so she could only say this.

Luo Xuhua suddenly realized, ”So that’s how it is. Sitian’s skills are truly getting better!”

His praise was genuine; if Beisitian weren’t truly skilled, she wouldn’t catch Peng Baocheng’s attention.

Shao Simin showed nothing on her face but inwardly disagreed. She thought Peng Baocheng sought Beisitian for treatment mostly because of the Tian family.

Thinking this way, she didn’t consider further: if it were because of the Tian family, why not go directly to them for treatment instead of taking a roundabout way to find Beisitian.

Luo Xuhua wanted to say more, but two people came over with wine glasses, and he didn’t have the chance, so he turned to socialize. Shao Simin hesitated briefly, then turned to leave, not intending to stay.

Ma Tianlai also went to talk with someone, and Nian Fanghua came over, ”Doctor Bei, are you tired from standing too long? Shall I find a place for you to sit?”

Facing Nian Fanghua’s benevolent inquiry, Beisitian’s smile was more genuine, ”Thank you, but standing for a while is fine. You don’t need to trouble yourself.”

”In a setting like this, with Old Ma here, I don’t need to step in. Besides, I don’t know any of the noblewomen here,” Nian Fanghua said truthfully, though that wasn’t the reason she stayed.

As they spoke, they moved towards the wall, where in a corner there were several sets of sofas and tables for people to rest, but everyone was busy socializing, leaving no time to sit.

So there were only one or two people seated there, and it became slightly livelier with Beisitian and Nian Fanghua’s arrival.

Beisitian was indeed a bit tired. She didn’t want to waste Nian Fanghua’s time, but it seemed Nian Fanghua planned to accompany her, so she said nothing further.

”Thanks to you, my son is now basically fine. He’s lost some weight, but much better than before, and he has more energy,” Nian Fanghua talked about her son.

”The child has a good constitution. Otherwise, at his age, two years would have already exhausted his vitality,” Beisitian said.

Nian Fanghua’s heart pounded and she felt frightened after hearing this, realizing she was lucky to have met Beisitian. Otherwise, it might indeed have turned out as she said. She only had this one son; without him, how would life go on, no matter how much money they had?

Men and women’s thoughts differ; women often think more for the child, while men might ponder more extensively and have greater needs.

”We were fortunate to meet Doctor Bei; without her help, Old Ma and I would truly be at a loss,” Nian Fanghua sighed.

Not far from them, a lady was quietly drinking juice. Due to the proximity, and Nian Fanghua and Beisitian not deliberately lowering their voices, she overheard their conversation.

She looked over Beisitian a few times and suddenly chuckled softly, ”Children are full of vitality. It’s not so easy for them to lose it. The doctor here seems to be exaggerating a bit.”

Both Beisitian and Nian Fanghua looked over to see the lady sipping tea. She was around forty, with a graceful appearance, exquisite features, fair skin, and though showing signs of age, still maintained a mature charm.

Before Beisitian could say anything, Nian Fanghua already felt displeased, casting a glance at the lady with a slightly stern face, ”Strong indeed, but it depends on the illness. Different illnesses manifest differently, so calling it exaggeration is somewhat presumptuous!”
